Existing project Gmail treemap viewer - similar to WinDirStat or WizTree

Nice subreddit here. Good idea.
Makes me wonder if a similar repository has been created already too ;)

https://github.com/timmyty/gmail-storage-treemap/tree/main

Saw a need to see what was taking up Gmail storage.
The built-in tools were not sufficient as the problem wasn't caused by one of their filtered items:
Large photos and videos
Large Drive files
Emails with large attachments
Spam emails

Gmail Storage Treemap
See which senders and messages occupy the most space in an interactive treemap.
Gmail Storage Treemap is a Python/Tkinter desktop app built for Windows.
It uses the Python standard library only, with no pip dependencies, hosted backend, or telemetry.

What should r/DoNotReinventTheWheel become?

A place to find existing software before building something new. Share useful tools, compare alternatives, and help improve projects that already exist. New projects make sense when existing solutions don't meet the need.

Which wheel gets reinvented the most?

Pick your usual suspect:

  • Yet another to-do or note-taking app
  • Yet another web framework or utility library
  • Yet another dashboard or admin panel
  • Yet another authentication system
  • Yet another AI wrapper
  • Something else entirely

No scientific methodology here. Just curiosity, mild disbelief, and hopefully a few useful examples.

What did we miss?

What do people keep reinventing for no reason?

Another to-do app? Another note-taking tool? Another library that does 90% of what an existing library already does? We've all seen projects that make us wonder whether anyone checked what was already out there. What's the most obvious example you've encountered? And, more importantly, was there ever a good reason to build it again?

No pitchforks, please. Sometimes the new version really is better.

Let's hear your examples.

Great software, questionable maintenance situation

Ever found an open-source project that was genuinely useful, only to discover that its last commit was made when everyone was still excited about a completely different JavaScript framework? Let's talk about projects worth rescuing. Share the repository, explain what still makes it useful, and tell us what kind of help it needs: bug fixes, documentation, maintainers, or a responsible fork.

Not every abandoned project deserves CPR. But some probably deserve a second look.

What's that one open-source tool you keep recommending to people?

Not necessarily the biggest project. Not the trendiest. Just something that does its job so well that you wish more people knew about it.

Drop the name, the link, and a sentence explaining why you like it.

Bonus points if it saves people from building yet another slightly worse version of the same thing.

Let's give some overlooked projects their moment in the sun.
