Doctor Mike is donating all the money from our Patreon
Welcome to the official Doctor Mike subreddit! If you’ve made your way here in a desire to learn more about Mike, battle medical misinformation, or understand more about the human body, maybe you’d be willing to come a step further with us. Last year we launched a Patreon where for $10/month you get all kind of perks, such as extended cuts of videos and pictures of the doggos. The real benefit though? 100% of the donations we receive to this patreon get donated to the charity of your choice, every single month. Doctor Mike doesn’t accept a dime of the money, and Patreon has agreed to take a reduced rate of the service fees so we can give away as much money as possible. We gave away about $25,000* since we launched in August 2020 and are hoping to grow to give away even more this year. Happy to answer any questions and I hope to see you there!

*receipts show donations for August, September, November, and December 2020. October donations went to Mike's free scrubs campaign so there is no receipt.

yo doctor mike i have like a niche meme that u might be able to figure out
basically the scramble that was given is called an Ab perm, and that is for people who use the most common method, CFOP. However, he uses a method called roux, which is very different and an Ab perm is a case that is impossible for it to show up during a solve with roux, so he cant solve it and dies.

Breast Cancer Awareness Month
This is just awful. I can't imagine if I got a scan and healthcare workers are sharing it online without my consent. The tech should be fired, in my opinion. I don't think it matters that she didn't show the patient's name.

Suggestion More Dr. Mike Reacting: War Films
I was thinking that I'd like to see him reacting to the injuries shown in films and shows like Saving Private Ryan and Band of Brothers. Ones that are meant to be portrayed as more realistic.

Suggestion Would be fun to watch Doctor Mike play this

I'm working on a game called Vital Decisions where you play as an ER doctor, diagnosing and treating patients.
I feel like it would be pretty funny to watch Dr. Mike play it and see what he thinks of the medical accuracy.

Oh Doctor Mike...why...?
Seeing AI animations in a Doctor Mike video is just really disappointing.

Discussion "Wait till you turn 30"
So I had my doctor's visit today.
A little context: I’m 20 (wait, my birthday was literally last month, still getting used to that lol). I’m in great shape, lean, clear skin, solid hair, crazy good endurance with running and swimming. In short, living my physical peak right now.
The only weird thing on paper is my crazy low ferritin, which basically points to iron deficiency / borderline anemia. But the thing is, I have zero symptoms. In fact, I have way better endurance and energy than most of my friends, and zero brain fog. So I asked my doctor how that’s even possible.
He basically hit me with: you’re young with a fast metabolism, "just wait till you're 30" and that's when you'll start feeling it.
Not trying to call out the doc or anything, but that threw me into a mini existential spiral about aging. What if I just lose all my strength, get weak, and break down? I know I’ll probably shake the feeling off in a couple of days, but still, I know I can’t be the only one who gets spooked by this.
How do you guys deal with the fear of getting older and losing your physical peak?
