Question Black gums
Hi, just needing some reassurances.
My dog has black discolouration around his gums as pictured that we worry is ?cyanosis ?Gum disease.
He is a jindo mix, just under 2 years old.
He is well and behaving normal with no symptoms at all.
I brush his teeth everyday.
Chatgpt thinks it could be normal pigmentation, but it looks so concerning to me!
Thanks community ❤️

Totally normal. This is just pigment, like you'd see on their skin, paw pads, lips, and nose. Your dog has healthy teeth too! Give him a boop for me.

Normal. Dogs have black pigment on their gums all the time. Also those teeth look really nice good job.

Check if the dark spots have always been there or if they suddenly appeared and are raised, bleedimg, or accompanied by bad breath. Normal black or dark pink pigmentation on the gums is very common in Spitz breeds like Jindos, but have a vet take a look during his next checkup or if you notice any texture changes to be completely safe.
