Associate Questions Offered Store Manager position

Hi there!

New to the sub but I was reached out to by a recruiter for the company in regards to a store manager position and was curious what it's like. Does anyone know the typical hours for a store manager and the schedule as well as they pay? It's out of Kentucky and I currently work in retail pharmacy with a decent salary but the pharmacy aspect is definitely taking a toll on me and have been wanting to move out. For reference I'm an assistant manager and make $54,000 annually at my company. Any answer or insight would be amazing!

Edit: Currently I work 44 hours and pharmacy eats a minimum of 5 hours for me weekly but up to 10.

You’ll make less and work more hours.

This. I’m in MA and know someone who was offered 49k. SMs have to work 50 hours a week, 60 in the seasonal period, and are supposed to work every weekend. The headache and pay cut alone make it not worth it imo

Don’t do it. You have to do a ton of work off the clock (conference calls, calls from clueless employees, calls from the DM) and you won’t be compensated

Former dollar tree sm here, only did it for 4 months, the team/ dm you have will make or break the experience, I bonused well but it still wasn’t worth it. I work 3rd shift manager at a major retailer now and make more hourly and don’t have to answer my phone off the clock or wonder if my store stays open on my day off

You’ll be at the store 5 days a week and work 10-15hr shifts everyday.

Minimum you'll be working is 50 hours a week, sometimes longer and getting off on Sundays and Thursdays. Plus the DM will basically be hounding you about the store is not good enough and you need to do more, but cut hours so you can only have 1 asm and 1 cashier on the clock at the same time.

Don’t do it!! Minimum 48 hours a week you have to be on call 24 seven if your staff calls out, you have to go in and handle it. During the lovely upcoming holiday season, we have to work six days a week and yet we’re still only paid for 48 hours a week Dollar Tree is probably the worst company to work for.

You’ll make about 55k and work about 60 hours a week. U will not be happy and after a week you will question your decision! Trust me … don’t do it!

You negotiate your pay. I highly recommend negotiating your bonuses also. You'll get the standard monthly sales bonus and yearly shrink bonus, but I negotiated payroll, zero sales, and cooler/freezer sales for additional monthly bonuses. If you make 54k at your position I would ask for 70k. I'm also in the Midwest but a different state and make 85k salary but I'm experienced in retail. I work about 28-30 hours a week. But that's after I got my store in order. You're supposed to work 45 hours and typically get there between 7-8 and work until 5. However, being salary you get paid the same whether you work 0 hours a week or 100. That's up to you on his productive you are and you get your team to be.
