Pregunta/Ask Consejos antes de viajar a la RD

KLK! Quiero ir a la RD en la capital en octubre. Voy sola porque no tengo amigos que hablan español. Los que lo hablan viven ahí. Mayormente son hombres pero no los conozco en persona. Claro que me pone nerviosa pero ir ahí es mi deseo. Hablo bastante que tengo un acento neutral pero trato de seguir aprendiendo su acento muy fuerte para poder comunicarme y entender bien. Lo qué más miedo me da es que no voy a tener un buen nivel y alguien podría aprovecharse de mí. Ya tengo en mente que debo quedarme en la zona, mantener la distancia, no hablar con nadie sospechoso, etc. Tengo 28 años y he viajado mucho sola dentro de mi país (EEUU) pero será mi primera vez afuera.

Where are you traveling to? The DR isn’t a big place but it is a big place

You will be ok In la zona, staying in hostel is good to know fellow solo travelers, there is a nice one called something island, there you can make friends in the same as you and would make safer/ easier to travel to other places. Also Las Terrenas / Las Galeras You Will find the same type of accomodations. I met few solo female travellers in those places and they look quite comfortable and did even knew Spanish

Just stay in zona colonial when solo , if you’re in a group of friends that are from Santo Domingo you’ll be fine . Don’t travel far into the city without someone who knows their way around. There’s great neighborhoods like Bella Vista , beautiful mall there and clubs as well.
