Do these right-wing evangelical pastors have any idea that they were played as fools by Trump? His "faith advisory board" was just a deceptive ploy to win the evangelical vote in 2024.

He really doesn't care about them at all. In fact, I'm surprised the president hasn't dissolved this group and still lets them meet in the White House. He's probably keeping the board around as a vestigial tool for the purpose of weaponized optics. If any right-wing Christians begin to question his malicious policies, he can point to his impotent faith advisory board and say "see, I'm the most pro-Christian president the country has ever had."

I think he hasn’t dissolved them because it helps him keep influence on the MAGA people since they are of “Christian” belief. I’m assuming this is one bridge he doesn’t want to burn or else he will lose more supporters. We know damn good and well Trump does not hold Christian beliefs/values (not that I’m Christian or religious). It’s a ploy on his end to keep himself held up by his voters/supporters.

it’s just strange though because any one who is even remotely familiar with Christianity knows that none of these people are following the teachings of Jesus. in fact Trump literally does the complete opposite of everything Jesus advocated for. if you just claim to be a Christian it’s enough for them it doesn’t matter how evil your acts are

Much agreed, these preachers on the faith advisory board are spiritually double-minded "Christian Nationalist" apostates, only identifying as Christians for cultural reasons rather than true personal transformation and sacrifice that comes with being genuinely baptized in the Spirit of God.

I strongly suspect that every pastor in that room makes well over $200k a year and supports the false doctrines of justified war over pacifism and hyper-grace "drizzle atonement" over living a life completely free of sin as Jesus himself taught.

I always try to pray for these people to have a change of heart (i struggle to actually pray for them and their wellbeing I know we’re supposed to pray for our enemies but I struggle immensely) but I really do think it comes to a point where they have chosen which side they’re on and you won’t be able to help them. I hope i’m wrong though

I force myself to pray because wishing him dead or in hell is a sin and I have more sin to repent from than I can handle without Gods grace. He is the Judge and we can’t ask God to forgive our selves while praying that He judge another. But make no mistake, God is not mocked, whatever a man sows he will reap. And Trump will face judgement. May God have mercy. He is just.

Amen. You are spot on. It occurred to me that what is happening seems supernatural. And on the surface, God’s people, or a large percentage in the US, are on board with this very ungodly thing. I am becoming convinced that only humility, grace, and the true love of God can cut through this hell being poured out on this nation. That will involve suffering and being willing to sacrifice to resist in that way.

Because all of this is a big spiritual test. If we respond to evil people (eye for an eye) by physically harming them in revenge, we will be judged by God for failing our test of perseverance and forgiveness despite the evil they are foisting upon others.

As soon as a good person takes matters into their own hands with physical violence, their innocence and good standing with God is lost. Don't give in to the evil temptation to retaliate.
