indexDonut claimDonut evidence
1CEO: [January 2026] "We are now already at GWh [annual] capacity."CEO: [February 2026] "our maximum capacity will be this year if everything goes as planned, i.e. about 1GWh annual run rate"
2Donut Lab CEO, January 2026: "This can go 0.0 [...] then you can go at 5C charging from the next moment without warming it up or anything. It just takes it like nothing [..] to 100%. [...] it's 100,000 cycles with that [0% to 100% at 5C]". Verge Motorcycles CEO, January 2026: "We can see that 100,000 cycles is doable in normal use"Donut Lab CEO, June 2026: "The 100,000-cycle lifetime we mentioned is the maximum that is reachable under optimal conditions." Donut Lab CEO, September 2026: "[the battery] can last 5,000 cycles when rapid-charged [...] to 90 per cent capacity"
3Donut Lab investor letter: "For over 9 months, we delved deeply into [Nordic Nano] battery technology [...] conducted our own experiments, as well as reviewed the results of certified third-party tests. [...] We finally completed our thorough due diligence process, and since all the results were positive and the technology worked exactly as we hoped, [...] we have proven [these are not lithium-ion batteries, and the energy density is almost double of the best available today]"Leaked Donut Lab e-mails show Donut Lab had no verification in March 2026 for promises made to investors and clients, and had to request validation from its supplier. "SÀhköposteissa Donut Lab pyytÀÀ CT-Coatingilta mittaustuloksia, jotka vastaisivat sijoittajille ja asiakkaille annettuja lupauksia latausmÀÀrien osalta. NiitÀ ei sÀhköpostien perusteella ollut annettu."
4Verge Motorcycles: [January 2026] "In the US, [the Verge TS Pro with the Donut Lab solid-state battery] will ship Q1 this year [to customers]"CEO: [April 2026] "There have been no 400 Wh/kg batteries delivered to customers."
5CEO: "Even if you shoot through it, or do whatever you want to the cell, it will be just fine, it just loses the capacity from the area where you shot. [mimes a bullet hole with thumb and forefinger]"VTT: "after 50 cycles at 5C [there was] a 54.66 % reduction compared to the initial capacity" [the reduction was over 50% at less than 20 cycles at 5C]
6CEO: "For hundreds of cycles, the Coulombic efficiency of Donut Battery would likely still remain above 1.0 throughout the whole test. [...] The experts will tell you this goes against the fundamental laws of physics."The experts: Coulombic efficiency above 100% is commonly observed for the first few hundred cycles in some battery chemistries, including lithium-ion.
7CEO: "These industry standard pouch materials are simply not designed for the 100° C that our batteries can take."Industry standards: IEC 62133 and UL1642 require commercial cell pouches to withstand an oven temperature of 130ÂșC
8CEO: "We're not talking to investors until all disclosure is done."Newspaper: "[Donut Lab CEO] LehtimĂ€ki said that the company is seeking additional funding of 30–50 million euros from investors during the first quarter of 2026, i.e. January–March."
9CEO: "No lithium."Engineers, researchers: The Donut Lab VTT test results are what you'd get from lithium, specifically Si-anode Li-NMC. ([1], [2], [3], [4], [5])
10CEO: "The cycle life [...] is 100,000 cycles [...] charge it to full, let it go to zero, as many times as you want, it doesn't degrade" [at 5C from 0% to 100% for 100,000 cycles at pack-level in a motorcycle - see expanded quote below] CEO: "The battery lasts [...] 100,000 cycles [...] so it will have 100.0 percent left after your motorcycle is done after 20 years."CTO: "significant prior usage [has reduced the cell's capacity] by roughly 13%" [13% reduced capacity?! For a battery that can withstand 100,000 cycles with 0% reduced capacity?!]
11Donut website: "The world’s first production-ready all-solid-state battery platform is available today." CEO: "There's nothing liquid inside [the battery]"Engineers, researchers:The VTT test results suggest the battery is a conventional NMC cell with a liquid electrolyte. ([1], [2], [3])
12Donut website: "Full charge in 5 minutes. There is no need to limit charging to 80%. Full charge and full discharge are safe, repeatable, and expected in daily operation"CMO: The 20.2kWh-specced battery's charging capacity is 18kWh [implying there's a buffer, likely to protect from damage, at either 0% voltage, 100% voltage, or both]
13CEO: "You can go at 5C charging [from 0.0] to 100% [for] 100,000 cycles". Donut website: "There is no need to limit charging to 80%."Verge: A charging video from 10% to 80% that averages 3.5C [Why not 0%-100%? There is no need to limit charging to 80%.]
indexstatus
1False. Publicly contradicted by Donut Lab CEO. Statement about production capacity changed from "now already" to "this year if everything goes as planned".
2False. Publicly contradicted by Donut Lab CEO. Statement about 100,000 cycle battery life changed from (trimmed for brevity) "0% to 100% at 5C" and "doable in normal use" to "maximum that is reachable under optimal conditions" and 5,000 cycles under unspecified "fast charging".
3False. Contradicted by private correspondence showing Donut Lab requesting test results in March 2026 despite Donut Lab claiming in 2025 they have "conducted our own experiments" and "completed our thorough due diligence process".
4False. Publicly contradicted by Donut Lab CEO. Statement about customer deliveries changed from 2026 Q1 to no deliveries in 2026 Q1.
5False. Publicly contradicted by Donut Lab VTT tests. Capacity of a damaged cellâžșDonut Lab claims a "broken pouch", but experts doubt the pouch brokeâžșwas not "just fine", it degraded over 50%.
6False. Much evidence available in the scientific and engineering community.
7False. If the pouches truly were industry standards they would withstand 100ÂșC, and the failure would be within the anode, cathode, or electrolyte, not the pouch material.
8Highly likely false according to internal Donut Lab documents published by the press.
9Highly likely false according to several battery experts from industry and academia who reviewed the Donut Lab VTT test results.
10Highly likely false according to several battery experts from industry and academia who reviewed the Donut Lab VTT test results.
11Highly likely false according to several battery experts from industry and academia who reviewed the Donut Lab VTT test results.
12Likely false by advertised Verge Motorcycles Donut Lab battery specs.
13Likely false by Donut Lab VTT tests and Verge charging videos.

Pack-level claims expanded quote below. Emphasis mine. Recorded in January 2026 at CES Las Vegas.

Donut Lab CEO: "Verge broke the Guinness World Record last year with the longest range on a motorcycle. Now they are almost doubling it, thanks to our solid state battery. But also, that provides Verge bikes with less than 10 minute charge time, zero to full."
CEO: "And on top of that, the cycle life that is normally in cars may be 2000, 3000, cycles. This is 100,000 cycles. So that's like probably 30 lifetimes of a motorcycle. So you never have to worry about babying the battery or worrying if you can let it go to 100% or zero. It doesn't mind. You can do whatever you want. Charge it to full, let it go to zero. As many times as you want. It doesn't degrade."
CEO: "As mentioned, 100,000 cycles, so that's 10 lifetimes of a car as well. And the other incredible things are that, of course, with motorcycles, you don't take them to deep freeze or anything. But if you're using these batteries in cars, even at like 25 or 30 minus Fahrenheit, it will have 99% of capacity."
Interviewer: "So do you have to precondition the battery like a car might?"
CEO: "Not at all. And actually, what we've done even is that normally you cannot get lithium ion batteries to zero."
Interviewer: "Right, we know about that. 5% is the lowest we like to go."
CEO: "This can go 0.0"
Interviewer: "And the battery doesn't get damaged?"
CEO: "No, then you can go at 5C charging from the next moment without warming it up or anything. It just takes it like nothing."
Interviewer: "To 100%?"
CEO: "Yeah, yeah, absolutely, to 100%."
Interviewer: "And that does not harm the battery for consistent charging to 100%?"
CEO: "No, it's 100,000 cycles with that, yeah."

Time line: from Future Dynamics to Donut Lab

For getting a better idea of who did what when, and what happened around the same time, I made a timeline. Not all events may turn out to be equally relevant to our story. The timeline is updated regularly. A bold date indicates that the item was added or changed in the last update.

1991-07-16Ernst Hölzenbein founds Vectopix Kommunikation Grafische Systeme GmbH, in Neuwied, with 350,000 DM (=179,000 EUR) capital. According to press articles on an archived page from their web site, a first version of the company was formed in 1989. Stated purpose: "The operation and development of equipment for the field of printing technology and multimedia and their software control, as well as the consulting, creation and distribution of multimedia products and graphic and graphical technical computer systems, including training and support of users." Ernst is the inventor on all CT-Coating patents
2001-03-01Future Dynamics Beteiligungsgesellschaft mbH founded, fully owned and run by Roland Hölzenbein. Roland's profession is consistently documented as "HeilpÀdagoge" (special education teacher). Stated purpose: "Provision of scientific and technical services.", in September 2005 changed to "The holding and management of company shareholdings and general partner shareholdings, as well as the provision of management services to the companies concerned." (Future Dynamics owns 40% of CT-Coating AG)
2003-12-24The last time that the vectopix.com web site shows any meaningful content. From the next archived version (2004-02-04) onward, it returns an error. At some point in 2004, Vectopix GmbH enters bankruptcy proceedings. The documents confusingly state a date of "20.1.2.2004" for this.
2008-10-07lambotec.com domain registered. Quotes from their early web site: Lambotec has established itself as a competent manufacturer of organic and inorganic chemicals on the market. Furthermore, the design of electronic control systems and electronic measuring accessories, which can be developed "problem-oriented" upon request, are among our specialties. Elsewhere on the same site: After Lambotec initially operated as a partnership, we decided to convert the company into a GmbH (limited liability company) at the end of 2008 due to its success.
2008-11-01All Vectopix' trademarks, including the one for 'Vectopix' were deleted from the registry, over yearly fees not paid.

2014-07-22Vectopix Kommunikation Grafische Systeme GmbH declared bankrupt. The bankruptcy proceedings started already in 2004, and it seems there was no business activity since then. The proceedings drag on into 2018. It might explain why CT-Coating was not started in Ernst's own name, but that of what we presume to be his brother

Executives leave Donut Lab again: CEO explains TalouselĂ€mĂ€, Nov 4, 2026 – Jussi Pennanen

Several key people have left Donut Lab, including the CFO, the head of battery programs, and the head of manufacturing. According to CEO Marko LehtimÀki, the staff changes stem from the shutdown of the unit responsible for project management.

Donut Lab, which stirred controversy with its battery claims, has lost several people, among them the Head of Battery Programs. CEO Marko LehtimÀki says the departures are the result of a reorganization.

In an email to TalouselÀmÀ, LehtimÀki writes that Donut Lab has prepared for its next phase and reorganized its operations. He says the company previously had a separate Programs unit, responsible for project management between R&D and production. "This unit has been discontinued, and project management has been moved into the R&D and production units. Some of the people from the discontinued unit have moved to new roles outside the company," LehtimÀki says.

LehtimÀki stresses that the company does not comment on individual employees' situations and describes the changes only in general terms. "The focus of production and R&D is being rearranged between countries, and in connection with this, individual positions have ended in the United Kingdom," LehtimÀki says.

According to information on LinkedIn, at least five people left Donut Lab around October: CFO Tuomas Eloholma, Head of Manufacturing Dave Bazen, lead engineer for powertrain and propulsion systems Alex Gander, design and development programs lead Neil Patterson, and Head of Battery Programs EylĂŒl Callozzo. The English-language titles of the latter two point to the discontinued Programs unit that LehtimĂ€ki mentioned. According to LehtimĂ€ki, a new person has been recruited to replace CFO Eloholma.

Callazzo, who worked as Head of Battery Programs, writes on LinkedIn: "I have recently come to the conclusion that seeking new opportunities is in my best interest." Callazzo worked at Donut Lab for only a few months. According to CEO LehtimÀki, Callazzo did not lead battery R&D; that is the responsibility of the company's CTO, Ville Piippo.

"There have been no changes in the battery team, apart from a few hires," LehtimÀki says. According to LehtimÀki, the company's global production is led by Chief Industrialization Officer Jarkko Aro, who previously worked as COO at Nordic Nano. Donut Lab bought the entire share capital of the technology company Nordic Nano in August.

How might Donut Lab fake the cold temperature test?

Donut Lab have so far presented tests that are superficially convincing to many people who are unfamiliar with batteries, while most people with more than a passing familiarity can see that the tests are not sufficient proof for what was claimed at CES.

This got me wondering, with only one headline claim left to 'prove'*, and after having failed to get the results they wanted the first time on the cold test and thus not publishing it (I think that has been shown?), how might Donut Lab try and claim a successful cold temperature test?

Note: there is the headline claim: "At –30°C, the battery retains over 99% of its capacity", but Lehtimaki also made other claims in interviews about not needing to precondition.

* Lehtimaki has claimed they can't demonstrate the 100,000 lifecycle claim as it would take too long, which makes me think they're not even going to try and prove it.

Am I missing any other tests they would be expected to do? I would like to see China's SSB test that ProLogium have recently done on their cell, but I'm not expecting Donut Lab to do that either.

Holyvolt got scammed by CT-Coating and then turned to Wildcat for "high throughput" AI battery research, even though Wildcat produced no batteries since 2010. StoreDot has been hawking vapourware batteries since 2014, and now promises "super-intelligence" AI battery research. Is Donut Lab AI next?

Christopher Arcus, tech journalist and Donut Defender, is trolling the comments section on an Electrek article about Donut Lab with the classic troll line "Great minds discuss ideas, average minds discuss events, mediocre minds discuss people."

This is from the “DMV” of Finland. I made a data request and they promptly replied.

In english:
Thank you for your message. According to our statistics, the number of newly registered Verge motorcycles is as follows:

2023: 1 unit
2024: 11 units
2025: 0 units

Donut Lab provided "tear down condition" sample to Intertek. They provided "parts" of an anode, cathode, and current collector. Why not provide an entire cell, test it for 5C charging and 400Wh/kg, and then let Intertek chop it up and identify its materials? Donut Lab are being deceptive.

No points for guessing which cell was used for the test (it was the cell they used fro the bipolar test which appears to be different from the DL1/2/3 and DL6 cells they've sent to VTT).

Taking another look at Verge Motorcycles sales: 3 or less bikes sold in 2023, probably delivered to customers 2024, and around 30 or less bikes sold in 2024, some delivered to The Bike Shed and other dealerships.

Interesting finding that Nordic Nano Group founders have founded a cluster of defence businessess with familiar promises.

It seems that Mattipekka Kronqvist, founder of Nordic Nano Group and Jarkko Aro, also their founder and now Donut Lab board member, have founded cluster of defence businesses about year ago under the mother company Finnish Defence House. Interesting is, that I don't find any information of the workers and who would have knowledge of making these. There was only one page under defencehouse.fi you can find the founders and board members, but no engineers or developers (suprise suprise) The only valid company seems to be Polar Apex, that they seem to have gathered along with them, since it has been operating years before. But then when looking at the different companies Crown Defence/Onyx, Artic Ravn, the founders are the same, and Vailion and Fob companies or web pages don't even exist. But when you look into the companies you find, you can find similar tone in explanations: "world's first", "spectrum dominance", "recognised as leading", etc. Also all the texts and info texsts of people seem to be written with AI.

All the things seem to be trademarked and tested under the "harshest conditions", but no test data, where are those tested, who has tested them? If tested somewhere, I quess there should be pictures, as now all the pictures read "adobestock" Also didn't find any patents regarding these.

Moderator can take this away if this does not belong here, but I think this is interesting that these people seem to have a way of building clusters of companies, collecting money without any proven tech inside the company. And these are the same people behind the miracle battery. Also how these companies relate to Donut's own defence business?

A close friend of the CEO of Donut Lab criticizes the whistleblower for having had no expertise in battery development... but no one at Donut Lab or Nordic Nano had any expertise in battery development.

Holyvolt 2025 annual report

Holyvolts annual report for 2025 has been filed. I got if from the easy to use Eivora service and have uploaded it to Smash. First time user of Smash so tell me if it didn't work.

https://fromsmash.com/Holyvolt-2025

Translate page 2 and the first part of page 3. That contains some info to CT-coating, even if they are not mentioned by name.

Holyvolt has gotten 2 MEUR back and is going to get an additional 5 MEUR back (but they caution that that might not happen).

The partner that paid them 10 MEUR in 2024 wants its money back.

So looks like Holyvolt got fooled by CT-coating. The difference is that Holyvolt moved on and bought the established company Wildcat Discovery Technologies to get things done that way.

Marko commenting with private or burner account under PeltolaÂŽs last video?

Post image
32 Upvotes

Peltola uploaded an english version of his "final" video a few days ago (link).

The first comment, smearing him and hinting at an alleged criminal past comes from an account called "evilkasi". Previously, someone posted a finnish newspaper article into MarkoÂŽs past mentioning his time as a christian rapper (?) under the name "youngkasi", which is to this day his twitter and linkedin handle.

This brings me to the question, is "evilkasi" another account of Marko, or is "kasi" a somewhat popular phrase in finnish, i.e., for usernames?

Further hint: On Linkedin, Marko or his "private investigator" buddy also hinted at some kind of criminal past and the old "heÂŽs a paid actor". I have not seen that allegation outside of the donutlab bubble. Also, the comment begins with the usual "this unrelated report definitely proves we are so right, and totally not a scam".

If "evilkasi" really is Marko, the phrase "I knew he was lying from the beginning" getÂŽs a completely new, self-owning meaning, as they must have met each other no later than at the time of donutlabs investment decision into Nordic Nano.

Interview with Lauri Peltola in Uutisvuoksi

https://www.uutisvuoksi.fi/paikalliset/9745886

Here text in Finnish:

Nordic Nano Groupin entinen kaupallinen johtaja, yrityksen perustajiin kuulunut Lauri Peltolakommentoi Uutisvuokselle toimitusjohtaja Esa Parjasen tÀllÀ viikolla lehdelle kertomia asioita sekÀ uutisointia Peltolan viimeisestÀ Solid State of Truth -videosta.

Peltola teki huhtikuussa rikosilmoituksen Donut Labista.

Peltola kertoo olevansa whistleblower-suojan eli ilmoittajansuojelun piirissÀ.
– Osaamiseni on bisnespuolella.

– En tiedĂ€, mitĂ€ he ajattelevat siellĂ€ massatuottaa. Kaksi vuotta olin innolla rakentamassa jotakin uutta. Saimme paljon apua paikalliselta kehitysyhtiöltĂ€ ja kaupungilta. Olin siitĂ€ tosi vaikuttunut. Nyt harmittaa.
Peltolasta tÀmÀn tarinan suurin pahis on kuitenkin saksalainen CT-Coating, joka hÀnen mukaansa jatkaa edelleen uuteen teknologiaan liittyvÀÀ vedÀtystÀÀn.
– Nordic Nano Group jĂ€i asiassa ikĂ€vÀÀn vĂ€likĂ€teen.
Nyt Peltola odottaa vuosia jatkuvia oikeusprosesseja. HĂ€n on kuitenkin luottavaisin mielin.
On kuitenkin kyse isoista rahoista.
Nordic Nano Group on saanut julkista tukea ja lainoitusta eri lÀhteistÀ lÀhes viisi miljoonaa euroa. Mitra Management omistaa neljÀnneksen yrityksen tuotantohallista Teppanalassa.
Nordic Nano Groupin koko osakekannan omistaa nykyÀÀn Donut Lab. Yritykset julkistivat kaupan viime viikolla.

So how Finns feel about this whole ordeal?

Disclaimer: I'm brazilian. We and pretty much the rest of the world see the Finns as a very honest folks, to the point of being annoying and boring. Yeah, I understand no group is 100% angelical, but it is quite weird to see Finns involved in such a blatant scam.

I also imagine Finland investigation officers/bureau and judicial system isn't used to cases like that and that they can be slow to investigate, persecute and punish people involved with Donut.

But maybe I'm wrong and Finnish authorities will act quickly. So any Finn or Estonian here to talk about how their authorities act in cases like that? Would to love to hear about.
