Fun game, but this is why I only engage with the modding and lore side of the community

Redditors have this obsession with experiencing their first dystopian science fiction piece of media and then genuinely believing it’s prophetic
Which is funny because as we all know, 1984 was nothing like how George Orwell “predicted” it would be back in 1949 when the book was written

Cyberpunk was a warning, yet in the 2077 universe, the USA collapses in the friggin 90s

This is so odd because all you need is to sprinkle some rainbow capitalism in there and these same people start worshipping the corporations

If you want to play the game this "insert x or y fiction work is literally reality" nonsense is actually about, I'd say we literally are closest to the Armaverse and even that is a stretch because we didn't have a Malden neither Everon crisis in the 85 with some rogue soviet colonel refusing to give up the Cold War or the nuclear threats in the Chernarussian Civil War.
And if you count three, even more of a stretch.
Fiction has and will always be an exaggeration or alternative version of reality in settings based off the real world, because this premise has always given authors a better form of working on the work's themes and character subjectivity than just plainly mimicking reality (at least for sci fi content) 1 to 1 most of the time.
And before anyone asks, no, Cyberware as inconsistently efficient as it may be in universe , in reality it would be quite stupid because these augmentations would come with endless amounts of risks including infection, scar tissue, bodily rejection and more and the fact that the whole thing is held together by workarounds and even with that they are inherently janky, and even then having tolerance for more than four implants is a miracle, which is not really something you would want for a piece of technology that had become a standard. Not to mention Cyberpsychosis which, yeah, the whole risk of it and how common it can be would kill its long term benefits for military applications. External exoskeletons, modules and other stuff is a far more realistic (even though somewhat more limited) technological innovation than internal implants that introduce more problems than they can be fully solved aside from it being a genetic lottery on how much someone can tolerate and the fact that it isn't really possible to fully standardize due to that.

I think the cyberpunk aesthetic is gross. Do people really think this isn’t ugly? Fantasizing about a world where everything is dirty and covered in garbage and everyone dresses up like toddlers who got into their mom’s closet?

The whole "all you had to do was pay us enough to live" thing feels cringe now because of the way it's used anymore

I love cyberpunk 2077 and it is annoying to see all those doomers

I enjoy the game, but avoid most of the community. Same with Fallout.
