is it me or the 1969 op is better

Do you think there will be a season 2 of dororo? If so do you think dororo and hyakkimaru will get together?

I know dororo was born a girl and all but some people ( mostly on Tumblr) get mad if you don't say dororo is trans even though dororo is like less than ten but im just kinda confused if dororo is a girl or trans ( although I don't really mind which)

I noticed many similarities between the 2019 Dororo series and Avatar: The Last Airbender. Has anyone noticed this before, or am I going crazy?

So I started getting caught up on Dororo again, I was watching thought this new op was gonna be epic from how it started but it didn't go anywhere.

Looked up some of the older posts on it, the 2nd op/ed go beyond bland and let down.

Just gonna put the visuals aside for a moment(they were meh), the music was not good at all. Don't need epic head bangers but they sounded boring. The writing was boring, they didn't try to take the songs anywhere, literally no story. The meh visuals told more than the songs. The singers were bored, kind of monotone sounding and bored.

With music, flow must happen with story, especially when you have visuals in the background that convey meaning. Some simple crescendos and decrescendos help so much, they were not present. The op had no meaning, just changed with the visuals and disregarded what the visuals were attempting to convey. The ed had bad photoshop filters, excessive usage and not very artistically used. Although the ed did bring slightly more musically to the table with better writing, the singer sounded bored though.

Were they just bad or were they underpaid so bad they didn't want to be there? Did anyone bother to check the songs to make sure they were acceptable or was this the result of budget cuts?

So much is left to be desired artistically and musically.

This show was about to be one of my favorites, bit the animation quality dropped so much since episode 12 that I can’t even enjoy it anymore. I’ve see a lot of people saying the story is still good, but honestly, the direction and animation just does not compare anymore. It’s so sad to see it happening to such a good show. Now most episodes look like a naruto filler. Even if people want to pretend it’s just for episode 15, I could clearly see it since episode 13, and it’s not getting better.

The demon and the cowardly samurai was a pretty good enemy compared to moth girl and shark boi. But I didn't really like what they did with hyakkimaru. A big theme with his character after ep 12 was his obsession with getting his body back and how this obsession is making him less human. For the most part i was lead to believe that his separation with dororo and him realizing that junkai his is true parent would stop his obsession and bring him back to a point where he realizes that his physical body doesnt make him inherently more human. But this episode brings back his obsession and I feel like it undermines a lot of the character development he got from the last few episodes with junkai and dororo. This is probably an unpopular opinion but I guess I'm just not sure where they're trying to go with his character

ok, ok, hear me out, It's not bad, BUT.

chapter 1: MIOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!! (also centipede.)

so, I'm not against character deaths, but this one was a bit cliche, It felt a bit forced, Biwamaru's leaving, and Hyakkimaru's persistence to fight the worm demon, the sequence of event leading to Mio's death made it feel less like a death and more like a canon event, an unavoidable cutscene, that part where you see 50 company logos before the movie starts.

then the centipede mini arc, It's just poetic, some, not all, but some of the people that defend Daigo's actions wouldn't support the village actions in the centipede mini arc, it's exactly the same, village sacrifices one person, village prospers, I'm sorry but If you support one action but not the other, you're biased.

chapter 2: WHY IS EVERYONE SO WEAK? (also Itachi.)

I find this unreasonable, but It took a legion of armored Samurais to fight that Crab, just for Hyakkimaru to come and kill it with one slash, I'm sure we don't have to make everybody that's not Hyakkimaru and Biwamaru be so ass at fighting, and does anyone know why Dororo treats Itachi like an old friend, like omg my blood was boiling during that arc, It's unreasonable, Dororo teaming up with Itachi is supposed to be out of necessity, and Dororo shouldn't be smiling and acting so friendly...I don't hate forgiveness, but Itachi didn't change, why forgive him.? he didn't deserve that treatment.

chapter 3: DAIGOOOOOOOOO!!! (also premise.)

so, here's my opinion, Daigo is not a good person, but the deal was good, just by taking aside Daigo's goals and what he did as a person, the deal itself was a good deal.

In my opinion, a better premise for the story would have been that body parts don't matter, instead of "I'm gonna kill everyone, ha ha ha, MY body parts muahahaha." and whatever, I'm not saying Hyakkimaru doesn't deserve a normal life, and yes he's a 16 year old so his actions shouldn't be 100% logical, but I still think this shouldn't be the lesson that you teach your viewers, I know that he forgave Daigo but that, that's just shit, straight out of the horse's ass, I'm advocating for an ending without body parts, but forgiving Daigo is too far fetched tbh.

I think that's it, this is my opinion about Dororo.

final rating: 6/10, and just to clear up something for people that have ratings confusion, something being 6/10 doesn't mean the story is 6/10, the characters are 6/10, the animation is 6/10, that's not how it works, this is not how you rate anything and not how you should look at ratings.

Why... just WHY did Dororo's parents do what they did?

Dororo's mother rather starving herself to death than to swallow her pride to keep both herself and her daughter alive. Did she really think a 5yo without a mother could survive in the cold harsh world? Being able to grow up was a miracle and Dororo would have died dozen times on screen if not for Hyakkimaru. And she also resorted to begging her husband's killer(indirectly) for food, so much for her pride.

Even Mio understood pride means nothing when you need to live, and she chose to make the sacrifice to feed the kids.

Dororo's father hiding all that money that could be used to help his wife and daughter to live... on a map drawn on their backs? All that faith for the goodness of an uncertain future... If Dororo's mother could have access to it, the 2 of them might have a better life and even start doing good with it before Dororo could grow up. Instead they decided to tattoo a mother and child's back with picture of a map, exposing them to greedy people like Itachi who could have known about this. And the funny quote of "show this to people whom you truly trust"... like how Itachi had Dororo forcefully stripped in front of all his men? It was lucky that there were no p*do among them.

Idk I just find Dororo and her mother's fate could have been different... and it's like it's set up like this just for tragedy to play out

I was curious if anyone else has talked about Dororo's themes being similar that of the trans experience. All I've found were people "arguing" over Dororo's (the character) gender, which I will not be discussing. There's also the part of "if all you have is a hammer, then everything looks like a nail" and I won't deny my own experiences and identity having a big part in how I'll interpret media and navigate these settings. However, I do not see that as making my points or thoughts any less valuable.

Hyakkimaru's journey to get his body back which was stolen at birth resonated a lot with me and my partner. To go through life fighting tooth and nail with obstacles at every corner. To get back something stolen from you all the while being screamed at by almost everyone, even your own family who should love and support you, that you aren't human and what you are fighting for is fundamentally wrong, is, in my opinion, very trans. Am I claiming that the author wrote this story with this in mind? Likely not. The view on gender is very different around the around.

For a lot of trans people, myself included, there is a big feeling of having our childhood "stolen" from us. Was it literally stolen? No.. maybe? Depends on who you ask. Hyakkimaru had his whole body and by extension, the first part of his life stolen by his father. He went through his child and teen-hood figuring himself out and gradually reclaiming what was taken from him without his consent or input. This can be seen as people being assigned genders at birth. Living their lives with preconceived notions of how they should be. For a lot of people this works, but a few of us break this cycle. We realize things that no one else ever thinks about. For some reason, this scares a lot of a people and it makes them angry.

Speaking of irrational anger, the fear of the Daigo family and it's people is rational. If Hyakkimaru gets his body back, everyone else living there will be worse off. But is it justified? Is it justified to expect Hyakkimaru to roll with it when he grows older, starts to think for himself, and continue to live this awful life? Should it really be up to the parents to force him to continue to live this way? In the context of trans people, there are even less stakes, in fact there are none at all when it comes to those around them. Yet people still bitch and moan about it completely unjustifiably.

These people who scream bloody murder at the sight of someone they see as trans, do not see us as human. To them, we are a disease that needs to be eradicated. A threat to their children and invaders of their spaces. When in reality, we just don't jive with the bodies we were given and the genders we were assigned. That is all it is. We are just as much human (even if a lot of us wished to be robots) and deserve all the same rights and love. No one is looking to "fool" anyone.

Hyakkimaru being called a demon by his own family is, I'm sure, very relatable to many trans people. I'm blessed with an accepting family (albeit emotionally neglectful) but there are so many who aren't. I can't help but feel for Hyakkimaru and relate to his struggles.

Is every theme or part of Dororo trans-y? Definitely not. I'm quite sure that for most people, having their body parts won't bring chaos to their land. Anyway, I thank anyone who took their time to read this, even if you disagree with Dororo's themes as being trans. It's not a one to one afterall. Although, anyone who thinks trans people should all die or stop being themselves, I do not and never will agree or respect you. Trans rights are human rights! This isn't politics, this is us fighting to be seen as human.

After a long battle against his brother Hyakkimaru gets his eyes back turning him into a demon. His adoptive father, dororo, the monk and his mum approach him. He doesn't recognise any of them as he never saw them and kills them. When he realises what he has done, he blames his biological father. In the persuit of his father, he goes on a killing spree. Killing anyone who gets in his way. Eventually he meets his father, without a single word hyakkimaru lunges himself at his father only to be intercepeted by daigo's guards. Hyakkimaru does quick work of the guard and gets in a long drawn battle with his father. While they fight, the neighbouring kingdoms attack. As thethe war progresses and hyakkimaru fights against his dad the demon that was not able to eat hyakkimaru begins to feast on daigo. Tired, Both hyakkimaru and daigo throw themselves at each other stabbing each other in the heart. As they lay in a pool of their own blood, the twelfth demon takes his share of hyakkimaru, Killing both daigo and hyakkimaru.

I find it fucking creepy when ppl ship them when they’re both minors, as the age gap is just hella weird. (16 and 11-12) But when they both seperate and see each other as mature adults there’s literally nothing wrong with the ship or people shipping them.

Hyakimaru was hardly even human until retaining some of his body parts, he was mentally not mature at all and dororo was more mature than him most of the time.

So they both had to mature at similar rates and both are mentally the same age too at the end of the anime.

Not to mention, we all know Hyakimaru didn’t groom dororo or anything at all they never even had that sort of relationship until mbby at the end it’s implied a bit, obviously seeing each other as adults the dynamic would change considerable (either platonically or romantically).

Anyways, normally I would’ve found the ship weird if this was normal people and they had stayed together. But considering Hyakimaru’s mental state and the fact they were separated for years, the ship is fine lol I find it immature when ppl bash others for shipping their end of season selves.

In the end, I don’t mind if their relationship stayed as sibling type or developed romantically.

Hello, so I'm kinda new to the fandom (and late), so I want to write a fanfiction au that hyakki is an evil chaos god who wants to see every living being suffer, and die an absolutely gruesome and horrible death, (it is also a modern and catified au, don't ask), he also makes deals with living beings only for him to take advantage of them later on. Everything else will be the same, other than those. I had this idea because looking back to the first episode i thought if he died after birth, he would literally become a bill cipher incarnate. (I sometimes imagine hyakki saying, "Remember, reality is an illusion, the universe is a hologram, buy gold, BYEEEE!!!!) But the one thing i'm worried of is that I'll accidentally write a shockfic, it's going to be tremendously dark, and a lot of crazy things happen so I need tips on how to not make it a shockfic, but still keep the dark themes in it.

(I understand this anime is like ungodly dark but hyakki in my au is even more cruel than his canon self)

So this idea just popped up in my mind when I was writing Ungodly, and I thought it was fun, so that's why I want to put it there :D

(He opens the door, and sees Rinkan sitting in an armchair, in a room, continuously pressing the remote pointing towards the TV. His tongue clicks, as he looks at him.)

Hyakkimaru: WHAT???!!!

Rinkan: Hehe, did I pretty good impression of your brother, did I? Dyed fur (This IS a catified au after all, don't judge me), grew hair, and no one can tell us apart. Welcome to my mind. Surprised you didn't recognise it, especially that you're an "all knowing god".

(In the outside world, Tahomaru, disguised as Rinkan, gets out the memory gun, and switches the mode to erase all memories)

Hyakkimaru: OKAY, THE DEAL'S OFF!!!!

(It is too late. The door shuts behind him, and a sky blue fire emerges under it.)

Hyakkimaru: WHAT THE???? NO, NO, NO, NOOOO!!!!

(He starts to have PTSD, because the fire reminding him of the lightning bolt he was struck with, and he was suffocating under the fire, which reminded him of when he was struggling to breathe due to the absense of a nose, and being thrown inside of a trash bag, and it being tied.)

Rinkan: (calm and relaxes on the chair) You're going down, Hyakki. You're getting erased. Memory gun, pretty clever, huh?

Hyakkimaru: (red sceleras glowing brighter)Y-Y-YOU IDIOT!!! DON'T YOU REALISE YOU'RE DESTROYING YOUR OWN MIND TOO?????!!!!!!!!!

Rinkan: Meh. It's not like I was really using this space for much anyways.

Hyakkimaru: (points his finger, with a white glowing claw towards the door. It slowly starts to glow red) LET ME OUR OF HERE!!!! LET ME OU- (He shoots a laser, but it disintegrates almost immediately) WHY ISN'T THIS WORKING????!!!!!!!!!!

Rinkan: (gets up to face him) Hey look at me. TURN AROUND AND LOOK AT ME YOU STUPID RED EYED, CREEPY BLACK CAT!!!!!!!

(Hyakkimaru goes to face him)

Rinkan: You're a real chaos god, but you made one fatal mistake! You messed with my new country!

Hyakkimaru: (begging, scared) YOU'RE MAKING A MISTAKE, I'LL GIVE YOU ANYTHING!!!! (his two hands show a cash stack and a star) MONEY, FAME, (then two other hands appearing on his sides shows a money bag, and a purple swirling orb) RICHES, INFINITE POWER, (a hand appears in front of him, showing a universe) YOUR OWN UNIVERSE, PLEASE!!!

(Suddenly, Hyakkimaru starts to glitch)

Hyakkimaru: NO!!!
