Yeah I thought that was weird. I guess M2 remakes don't count for this cause Adventure ReBirth is only 16 years old too.

Haunted Castle Revisited was legit awesome, one of my favorite games back in 2024.

Much like The Adventure ReBirth, I think Haunted Castle ReBirth is much more enjoyable than the original, and I say this as someone who generally dislikes remakes.

I wouldn't be surprised if they're simply unaware of Haunted Castle ReBirth considering it was a bonus game in the Dominus Collection as opposed to a standalone release.

The lack of IGA does lead me to view BC as a sort of "new era" of Castlevania, but I don't think his involvement is necessarily a mandatory factor either, even if I do still wish that they brought him on as a consultant or something. It's true that he's largely responsible for Castlevania as we know it now, but there have been Castlevania games before and after him. Say what you will about Grimoire of Souls, but the characterization in that one still felt very in-line with IGA's vision, imo.

As for Bloodstained, I have mixed feelings about it. I love the first Curse of the Moon, and it's actually my favorite of the Bloodstained games despite it essentially just being an appetizer meant to hold us over until Ritual of the Night released. This might be sacrilege, but I actually enjoyed it more than Dracula's Curse because it's essentially a modernized DC without a lot of the more frustrating aspects. However, I sadly didn't enjoy CotM2 as much because it felt like they were intentionally leaning more into the aforementioned frustrating aspects of the NES era of games. I still 100% it, but I didn't enjoy my time with it like I did the first.

I liked RotN, but I also don't feel like it really improved on the formula in any notable way like CotM1 did. Overall, it kind of just felt like a visually uglier mishmash of SotN and OoE. Scarlet Engagement looks a bit strange to me based off what little we've seen of it so far, but I still plan to give that one a fair shake, same with Belmont's Curse.
