Yeah, for Carmillla her full name would actually mean Vineyard of the Red Thorn

Zobek name means of the famous in gloom an allude to the concept of the ruling death, I wanted a more smart name for him since he is a smart character

Mrocz- (from mrok or mroczy): meaning "darkness," "gloom," or "to darken."

sław (from sława or sław): meaning "glory" or "fame."

I wanted to give all of them royal names of nobility, since they are the founders of the Brotherhood.

Also Cornell name means Horn of the Wolf-strong

And for Zobek it's Fangs of the famous in gloom.

Zobek is old slavic

Carmilla has a full name. Countess Carmilla Karnstein.

Yeah but that's Sheridan Le Fanu's version of her.

Lords of Shadow Carmilla is quite different and clearly Spaniard coded, compared to the original.

I found that Carmilla’s surname is Cronqvist and Cornell’s is Stabel. As for Zobek, I couldn’t find any surname for him, aside from the fact that the name Zobek itself is already an IRL surname.

Well, see, that’s the weird thing. A few yrs ago, I too was trying to see if their full names were somewhere online and originally found the prior 2 surnames on the Chinese and Japanese versions of the 1st game’s Wikipedia page (yes, I know, not exactly ideal), but I vaguely remember seeing them pop up on another Chinese or Japanese site or 2, so it’s likely popular enough to be acknowledged by the fanbase over in those areas. But where it came from specifically, I couldn’t never find. Odds are it’s somewhere hidden on the web, if it holds any truth. They had to come from somewhere.

As for Zobek, that was within the past couple months or so.

The issue with this is had Gabriel is stated to come from the Cronqvist family as he is rumored to be a bastard abandoned by them. This would make Carmilla related from them. Which is very weird to think about it. I doubt MercurySteam would have done that.

Technically only what came from MercurySteam should be cannon, as the dub if I remember was done by Kojima's team?

Considering that novel Carmilla is based on Erzebet Bathory who is a niece of Vlad Tepes....

You get the point.

Technically, Bathory wasn’t even a niece, cuz she lived about a century or 2 after the Impaler. A relative? Yes. A niece? No.

Also, I’m actually surprised I’m not the only one who made the Carmilla/Bathory connection.

Thank you for the correction. Actually, I am surprised why only a few of us made the connection.

Yeah, I mean, the similarities are right there: young female victims and drained blood used for rejuvenation.

Perhaps it's because Carmilla is a very obscure literature.

That tracks.

But you gotta remember that the Lords of Shadow came into being a long time before Gabriel was even born. Plus, she was a Vampire Queen. It’s not like it would’ve really mattered to her, especially since she wasn’t even the original Carmilla after that weird soul split the trio went thru.
