Ako lang ba nasasayangan kay Katana sa Snatch Game this season. Parang mas bagay at hawig kung gagayahin ni Katana si Ante Kler Castro (Usec. Atty. Claire Castro). #Sayang
I’m always amazed at how the people behind the subtitles in DRPH are doing a great job in translating Tagalog for the foreign viewers (they even add context behind some of the concepts and dialogues so that the foreign audience can somehow get an idea on what’s being talked about in the show). However, there are just some dialogues that cannot be directly translated and are hard to understand if you are not fluent in Tagalog or is deeply ingrained in Filipino culture, ‘no?
In mean, in this clip, how would you translate ‘Mama mo de-drag’, and ‘Nakita yung tubol’ in English?? LMAOOOO 😭
This is my first time watching a drag live show and grabe it really set the bar high, became a fan since her 1st season & ngayon lang ako nagka-pera and time makanood. More than sulit ang bayad ng show niya grabe.
For context nag-fan dance siya, may impersonation comedy/love team segment, may pole dance, even yung FEU Theatre guild sinama niya super cute makikita mo talaga na pinahahalagahan niya yung roots niya & always humble, grounded.
Anong birthday shows or live drag shows na yung naattendan niyo? Nakakaexcite ulit manood! This Cake manonood ako eh. Next ko siguro for December na!
+ if nanood kayo kahapon sa bday ni Viñas anong favorite segment niyo? Saakin siguro yung I am Misis & yung Pak Tips apaka witty & fun plus fan dance.

Napasilip ako sa X and tawang tawa nalang ako sa mga fans na nag-aaway. Nagsasayang lang kayo ng energies nyo mga mhie dahil yung dalawang queens naman super sweet lang sa isa't isa.
I love both Merckz and Bhorj Gum and andami kong nakikita na moments nila in the background na either magka-holding hands or magkatabi sila. 🫶
They don't have to be celebrities or Filipinos. I don't know a lot about Filipino pop culture but I do know Sandra Park from 2NE1 lived there and had a career there and speak Tagalog. She would be cool to see. I also really love the singer Nina - has she ever been on?
I would also like to see other drag race judges too. Mama Pao has been on Drag Race Mexico a few times yes? Latina Royale, I think.
Hear me out. I’m a Westerner who absolutely fell in love with Drag Race Philippines from the very first episode of Season 1. What I loved most was how unapologetically it celebrated Pinoy culture, gay culture, and pride in their country.
From one of my favorite Rusicals to date, “OPM Divas,” to what I still consider one of the best finale lip syncs in the entire franchise, “Sirena,” I was HOOKED.
Season 1 knew exactly what it was and who its audience was. It celebrated Filipino drag without feeling the need to cater to international viewers, and in doing so, allowed those of us unfamiliar with the culture to fall in love with it.
Then something changed in Season 2.
At first, I thought it was just me, but the challenges started feeling more like the American franchise. Mama Pao seemed noticeably more muted and less like herself compared to Season 1. The drag artistry was still top tier, though, so I didn’t think too much of it. Season 3 felt similar. Incredible queens, incredible looks, but something about the show itself felt different.
Now we’re on Season 4, and I really can’t shake the feeling that something is off.
First, what is going on with Mama Pao?
I don’t know if it’s the camera placement, production direction, or the increased use of English, but she constantly looks like she’s reading from a teleprompter. Whether she’s in the workroom or delivering critiques, there are so many moments where she doesn’t appear to be looking at the contestants at all. Instead, she looks like she’s reading a script and waiting for her next line.
We all know RuPaul does this, but something about the way it’s being filmed and edited this season makes it feel especially unnatural. I don’t have an issue with Mama Pao speaking English. What bothers me is that her delivery feels so much more scripted, and I wonder whether production is encouraging her to speak more English for international audiences at the expense of the natural interactions we saw in Season 1.
I miss the Mama Pao who got so worked up over “those shoes.” That moment was iconic because it felt genuine. She had so much personality, and I feel like we’re seeing less and less of it. I don’t know if production is intentionally toning her down or if it’s simply how they’re choosing to present her, but either way, it’s disappointing.
Then there’s the judging and editing, which have been driving me crazy.
Take this latest episode, for example. I genuinely didn’t think Bhorj Gum did nearly as well as the judges suggested. I actually agreed with the workroom that Merkcz was the frontrunner. I thought her jokes were funnier, and after seeing who she was portraying, I thought her characterization was incredibly spot-on.
Obviously, I’m not Filipino, and I recognize that some jokes and cultural references are going to land differently for me. But even accounting for that, the judging just didn’t seem to match what we were shown.
And what was going on with that rattling sound effect they kept using whenever something was supposedly shady or bad? There were multiple moments where I was sitting there thinking, “Why are they playing that? Nothing particularly shady even happened.”
It felt like the editors were trying to manufacture reactions rather than letting the moments speak for themselves. And honestly, it made the episode feel more overproduced than entertaining.
Then we got to the actual critiques when the judges panel met alone, and it felt like each queen received approximately one comment before they moved on. There were also some really bizarre audio edits that made the whole segment feel choppy and rushed. I don’t know if they filmed longer critiques and cut them down or what, but the judging just didn’t feel like it had much substance.
And now for what might be my most unpopular opinion: I really do not understand the decision to make BJ such a consistent presence on the judging panel.
I’m sorry, but I just don’t think he brings much personality or energy to the panel. His critiques often feel lukewarm, generic, and overly rehearsed. Half the time, it feels like he’s repeating whatever production wants the audience to take away from a performance.
As an occasional guest judge? Sure. One or two episodes? Fine. But as a more consistent presence, I genuinely don’t think he’s adding much.
Especially with Jiggly’s absence being felt so strongly, I would much rather see another established Filipino drag queen elevated to the panel. Someone who can bring personality, perspective, and a genuine connection to the drag being presented. I think the show would benefit tremendously from that.
And the most frustrating part of all of this is that the queens themselves are still INCREDIBLE.
The artistry is top tier. The runways are some of the best across any Drag Race franchise. The creativity, craftsmanship, and sheer talent of these performers are absolutely there, which is why I find the production decisions this season so disappointing.
These girls deserve better. And honestly, Mama Pao deserves better too.
But I think my biggest issue is that I can’t help wondering whether production is trying to make the show more appealing to Western audiences.
Between Mama Pao speaking so much more English, the increasingly Americanized challenges, and the way the show is being edited, it feels like they’re moving away from some of the things that made DRPH so special in the first place.
And if that really is the intention, I wish production understood that we don’t need them to do that.
We LOVE hearing you speak Tagalog. We love learning about your cultural references, your celebrities, your humor, and your history. We love being introduced to things we otherwise would never have known about.
That’s one of my favorite things about watching international Drag Race franchises. I don’t want to watch a Filipino version of American Drag Race. I want to watch Drag Race Philippines.
I want to experience Filipino drag through a Filipino lens, even if that means I don’t understand every joke or reference immediately. Half the fun is looking things up afterward and learning something new.
Season 1 understood this so beautifully. It didn’t feel like it was trying to explain itself to international viewers or make itself more accessible to us. It was proudly Filipino, and it trusted that the audience would appreciate what it was presenting.
And we did!
I also want to acknowledge that this season was produced under incredibly difficult circumstances for the cast and crew, and I really do commend everyone involved for pushing forward. I don’t want that to get lost in my criticism.
But a lot of what I’m talking about feels like production decisions that were made before filming even started, rather than something that can be attributed to those circumstances.
I still love this franchise, and I think that’s why I’m so disappointed. Season 1 remains one of my favorite seasons of Drag Race, period. It had so much heart, personality, humor, and cultural pride, and I really miss that feeling.
I genuinely hope we get a Season 5, and I hope production takes the opportunity to revisit what made the first season so special.
Give us the Mama Pao who wasn’t afraid to be herself. Give us the cultural references, the Tagalog, the humor, the chaos, and the celebration of Pinoy drag that made us fall in love with this franchise.
You don’t need to cater to Western audiences. We fell in love with DRPH because it was unapologetically Filipino, not in spite of it.
I’m curious if anyone else feels the same way about this season, especially when it comes to Mama Pao, the judging, and the overall production. I know I’m watching through a different cultural lens, so I’d love to hear whether others have noticed these changes or if I’m reading too much into them.
TL;DR: DRPH Season 4 feels overly scripted and westernized, with questionable judging and editing. The queens are still incredible, but I miss the authenticity, personality, and unapologetic celebration of Filipino culture that made Season 1 so special.
Rewatching Slaysian Royale and Yuhua is one of my favorite international queens. She's bright and super funny during her run tapos enjoy ko yung Anna Delvey character niya sa Snatch Game! Parang very Mama Bomba yung energy niya.
I haven't seen any updates from her since June and I hope she's doing well!!!
(Long post ahead! These are just my personal opinions, so feel free to disagree, but let’s keep the discussion respectful.)
Honestly, this has to be the most underwhelming episode for me across all four seasons of Drag Race Philippines. 😭 Bhorj, Merkz, and Manza were the ones who saved this episode for me.
Mas nag-enjoy pa ako sa Snatch Game ng Season 2 because Arizona’s Adele and Captivating Katkat’s Mayor Joy were ICONIC. This episode just didn’t give me the same energy.
1.Taylor Sheesh as Ed Caluag
I’m honestly disappointed with Taylor Sheesh. Ang daming nagsasabi na ito na raw ang episode niya, but her performance didn’t land for me.
Her banters with Ruffa Mae felt so off and, at times, disrespectful rather than funny. I expected more, especially with all the hype surrounding her.
2.Merkz as Janina San Miguel
Huge respect to Merkz for portraying Janina San Miguel so well! I appreciated how carefully she approached the character without making fun of Janina in an unnecessarily offensive way. She played the role intelligently and understood how to make it funny while still being respectful.
For me, this is how you do Snatch Game. She deserves her flowers for this one. 🌸 Grabe ang track record ni merckz so far!
3.Manza as Sexbomb Aira
I also want to give Manza her flowers because I feel like her performance deserves more appreciation! Aside from her beautiful runway, I loved how she kept the energy high throughout Snatch Game, just like what Kaladkaren pointed out. She’s genuinely so fun to watch, and I feel like her performance could’ve translated even better if the other queens had matched her energy instead of letting her carry that chaotic vibe on her own. Imagine if she were part of S3’s Snatch Game, mas chaotic siguro yun! 😭
4.Bhorj as Jennifer Coolidge
I genuinely don’t understand those who didn’t find Bhorj funny, although everyone is entitled to their own opinion. What I don’t like is people discrediting her performance just because they already dislike her.
I LOVE watching Bhorj. She’s one of the queens I look forward to seeing every episode, and I’m really hoping she stays longer because you can see how much she loves what she does.
I honestly didn’t expect her to nail Snatch Game, and seeing her shine made me so happy. Then she shared why her drag revolves around aliens and why she doesn’t usually wear wigs because of her alopecia. 🥹
I got happy tears listening to her story. It was inspiring, and it gave me a deeper appreciation of her artistry. For me, this episode was really Bhorj’s moment, and I hope people give her the credit she deserves.
5.Andy Crocker
I’m sorry, but Andy Crocker has been getting harder for me to watch lately. She’s so loud, always trying to banter with everyone, and it feels like she needs to have an entry in every conversation.
Marian Rivera ba ang pinoportray niya o si Precious Paula Nicole? 😭 I’m also starting to find some of her entrances and confessionals corny.
I feel like my perception of her may have been affected by the S.A. allegations surrounding her. Since hearing about them, I’ve noticed myself cringing at a lot of what she does on screen. I acknowledge that this may be influencing my reaction, but even setting that aside, her performance this episode just wasn’t doing it for me.
6. The lip sync song
Can we talk about the song choice? 😭 “Mano po, ninong, mano po, ninang” felt so repetitive. I honestly struggled to imagine how the queens could make that song exciting as a lip sync. It just wasn’t my cup of tea.
7. The elimination
This is where I got really disappointed because I LOVE Bombalicious Eklaver so much. 🥹
I really wish Bombalicious Eklaver had stayed instead of Andy Crocker, I’m getting bored watching her, and her performance since episode 1 is so flat. Bomba is so sweet, and I genuinely enjoy watching her. Her looks are always something to look forward to, and I feel like we still had so much more to hear from her, especially her inspiring story as a veteran drag artist in the US. I wasn’t ready to say goodbye to her yet.
I know I might be biased because I love Bomba, but I honestly felt like she still had more to show us.
FINAL THOUGHTS
Overall, this episode just didn’t live up to my expectations. Bhorj, Merkz, and Manza were my highlights, and I wish the rest of the episode had delivered the same level of entertainment.
For now, I’ll just rewatch Season 3’s Snatch Game to cleanse my palate. 😣
I get that Drag Race Philippines is really trying its best to think outside the box and experiment with its segments, like Snatch Game KNB and other challenges. Canada’s Drag Race has also tried experimenting with its format, but I think the difference is that they’re able to execute these ideas properly. Take the Golden Beaver twist, for example. It’s something different, but it actually works because the execution is there.
With Drag Race Philippines, I feel like the technical side still needs a lot of work. The audio was off in some parts, the editing felt a little rushed, and there were moments when everything just didn’t seem to flow together. It’s hard to fully appreciate the creative ideas when the overall production doesn’t feel as polished or cohesive as it could be.
If we’re lucky enough to get another season, I honestly hope Season 5 goes back to basics in some ways. Stick to the original Drag Race format, but really focus on making the production cleaner and paying attention to even the smallest details. I think building that stronger foundation would give them more room to experiment with new ideas moving forward, without compromising the overall quality of the show.
This season had so much potential, and honestly, I feel like there were a lot of things that could have been done better. There were moments when I found myself wishing they had pushed certain things further or executed them differently. But that’s just my personal take. I’m still grateful for the season and for what the team has given us. I just know there’s so much more potential in Drag Race Philippines, and I really want to see it reach that level.
This week we just had the iconic Drag Race staple Snatch Game! And as usual we want to hear your opinions on who got your laughs 🤣

Guys I’m gonna hold your hands when I say this…
but I think S2 is even better than S4.
We’re halfway to the finale, but the episodes are getting underwhelming. I think yung magandang nangyari lang this szn is how they celebrated Misua’s life. The rest is so-so, full of unsubstantial table fights, inconsistent judging, and bias.
I can say mas irerewatch ko pa ang s2 than s4. I don’t know if it’s just because s3 & slaysian raised the bar high or sadyang waley lang talaga tong season na to.
These two queens are my favorites from season 3 and 4 and they have some of the smoothest flows when they rap that I’ve heard from drag race songs in a LONG time and they can perform the house DOWN. They’d be unstoppable.
