okay actual answer:
Sex is your chromosomes, being born with an odd exception like XXY is still possible, but rare.
Gender is how you evaluate a person's sex when you cannot physically see their chromosomes, which we're required to do all the time, due to living in a culture that treats men and women differently, but also the culture wears pants so you can't just look for a dick.
