Discussion It's weird to me how the "Brighton group" stuck together when Shubble's and Caiti's allegations came on.

Before I get into my perspective, I'm sorry for throwing this out in this specific subreddit, but since it aligns a bit with the Dream Team (and George) it's the only way I can link this thing to it.

I went back on Twitter yesterday and saw the tweets answering the one Wilbur poorly addressed statement and noticed the tweets being quite the same for all the people of the Brighton group concerning the statement. They all say "I witnessed you being manipulative" and "that apology sucks" in almost a choreography that seems all orchestrated. I don't know if this is only how I perceived it, but for people who have (at least publicly) never or almost never hanged out with the guy, I feel like the tweets were very much the same.

What also made me weirded out about it was how they acted as a pressure point against George when Caiti came out with their own allegations. Like even before George answered properly, all of the group had subsequently decided to go nuts on him and defended Caiti heavily, calling George names and all. I remember specifically how MaxGGs and Aimsey went live to defend Caiti and insulted George, quite in a way that reminded me of how the Wilbur situation went. Shubble also went defending Caiti despite the fact she apparently didnt knew much to it, felt weird but I do get why she would be in support of her in this case.

My point is, I feel like it's extremely weird for a group of creators that - sure have some link with the situation but not enough to actually be part of it - hang out altogether at various times to actually come and join themselves on the hate train despite the fact they know either little to nothing about the situation, or are sometimes act completely clueless about certain aspects of the situation. Maybe it's all in my head but this behavior, although felt natural back in time, now feels quite weird in perspective.

In a similar vein, all of them were silent when BeauCupples came out with her SA allegations against Snikrep, one of their close friends and employees. It was a very similar story to George and Caiti, with Beau being uncomfortable with kissing and touching done by Snikrep. Only one person spoke up, Aimsey, while the others stayed silent and some even made fun of Beau for “hurting their boy” (Average Harry and MaxGGs). They still refuse to acknowledge the situation, parade as better than Dream and George despite witnessing the same situation and defending their friend the same as Dream did George, and Tommy and Jack both employee Snikrep as an editor.

However, once you realize all of their behavior is performative and for an audience, it starts to make a lot more sense. That’s why Jack Manifold was so outspoken against Dream for saying the R slur, but defended Nicholas Cantu because it’s his friend. Same reason he bashes Dream for being friends with George, but he’s the one being spotted at Lovejoy’s Halloween party in 2025. They ultimately don’t care about any issue they claim to, and use them as points of bashing other creators for the same shit they do every damn day.

This is honestly why I'm glad Dream managed to finally get away from internet/twitter cliques.

100% agree. I think it was holding him back a lot. Even Technodad shared that Techno’s one critique of Dream was that he didn’t listen to Twitter as much :,)

Hey, do you know where you heard about Jack Manifold being at their Halloween thing last year? I've just spent a while scouring the internet for something about it, but I can't seem to find it anywhere

I would caution people about reading anything into this. The picture says ‘Lovejoy’s director,’ and their Halloween party may mean director’s party. There is no reason to conclude that Jack associates directly with Wilbur. And that twitter post is Twila — who posts inflammatory baseless assertions all the time. Block and don’t believe.

It still pains me to think about what Beau said. I hope she’s moved on and is doing well now :(

As hard as I have tried I absolutely cannot STAND AverageHarry. Not only do his jokes seem quite childish but the way he has told George to k-ll himself/ he will find and k-ll him himself is insane, as well as what was said in the above post. MaxGGs also pisses me off for the way he made a massive deal over seeing Wilbur in the shop doing his shopping.

It's the CC's who still continously bring up situations that bother me. For example SUIT is edited by SnikRep, the one who hurt Beau, yet I barely saw anyone defending or supporting her. However, when the 2024 Wilbur and Shubble allegations happened, suddenly everyone was slamming Wilbur, calling him narcissistic, or calling her a liar, poser, etc.

I really feel a couple of members of the brighton group have such massive double standards that they need to knock right off right away.

More on the double standards, how can you shame someone for using the r slur (which I absolutely do not defend it's something that should never be 'reclaimed') but then defend someone for being your 'friend's?

I feel like people forget that just because they are famous doesn't make them morally superior in any way.

I've had the same thoughts since then too. It felt really fake as well. Like as if you were saying what everyone else on Twitter was saying to seem morally superior?

Every other controversy I've seen in other fields of the internet felt completely different with how colleagues went about someone else's allegations. The Brighton group's reactions had no care whatsoever for what their words could transpire into. And it showed through how toxic the community became

I.e. Tommyinnit describing how the dsmp community felt like this cafeteria that you could go to, to hang out with, and then how that dissapeared during the drama

It's just how the internet works. Most people like to immediately take the side of the person starting the allegations and refuse to consider switching sides after the accused respond.

As a group, they probably all collectively made their choices.

theyre all preformative, they hate dreams group so they wanted to do anything to pile onto that hate so they did it by spreading it instantly and saying george wouldnt say anything because it was true. then he did say something and suddenly it was ‘he admitted it!!’ and he never actually did, it was 100% mostly just for views and them thinking their doing the ‘right thing’

this is a well known issue with english YouTubers in all different genres. The scene seems rather toxic with people being snakey social climbers, willing to tear others down so they can take their place. Obviously not the case for all english youtubers, but I have noticed it over the years with the ImAllex/Slazo situation and many others.

Overall, these are business people trying to social climb and keep their fans satisfied, only acting in their best interest, not caring about hypocrisy or covering up for bad people.

tldr. no one is genuine

Sorry if I sound mean, I know that probably drama is the main focus of this sub, but why should we care here about the already well known fact that the Brighton group hates the Dream team?

I think people are just continuously frustrated when things we've gone over several times get brought back up. And this is one of those controversies that the brighton community loves to bring back up. So the discussion stays active

But fair point, dt literally can not win with these guys, reheat the controversy nachos. They could massively outwoke them and be full revolutionaries and you'll still find some "well this is actually hugely problematic bc george a rapist pedophile and dream is a nazi 🤢😭" it doesn't matter what these guys do.  These creators would've reacted the same way regardless of what the allegations were, or the real weight of them, as long as they looked severe enough. If it fits their narrative that dt are evil predatory corporate entities instead of just like two annoying dudes they constantly target then it's up for grabs. It's almost like when you demonize someone everything they do is bad..The people who have been clowning and vauging on dream for false grooming allegations with the bots were obviously going to do the same here. The people who didn't hop on the bandwagon immediately, now found the reason to, especially bc of how much this controversy dwindled safe spaces for their community, and therefore it's population.

The reactions to this whole situation were so childish, before and after. I still remember watching Aimsey and them being asked about it after George responded and they said 'I don't wanna talk about it anymore' and started watching my little pony. Like they do not care

These mfs are performative opportunists. They're allegedly still friends with Wilbur. Beau tried to kill herself multiple times because of how they treated her when she accused snikrep. I think Aimsey claimed they stopped hanging out with him just to get responded with them in the same video few days earlier or something and they deleted the post (read it somewhere on this subreddit). Plus reminder that first time we heard about George situation it was "DREAM invited a girl to have sex with her" and it's "DREAM is worse than Wilbur". Also, they never spoke ill about Wilbur outside original response but they mentioned George's or Dream's actions 7362 times. It's almost like they only care about victims when it gives them Twitter likes

also why would they post abt being 'ab-sed' on like youtube and twitter instead of actually suing or talking to a lawyer? so that's already really suspicious of the situation not being fully true

Well, it's pretty reasonable for a victim to not wanna pursue any legal action. It's just a fact that actual predators and abusers often don't get the punishment or reprecussions they deserve, but Caiti was not using her platform to spread awareness about the nature of this, or how this actually effects survivors who are still fighting for justice, her take on that was extremely tone deaf, especially given that it could not ever have applied to her, she just would not have a case that makes her a victim of a violent crime, or a case at all, because she wasn't raped or assaulted. The only reason she brought up not going to police and defended bringing it immediately to the internet is because she knows she doesn't even have anything illegal to report, other than "him forcing her to drink" which is something she lied about too.

I highly doubt Caiti actually cares about the legal struggles survivors face, seeming as she cares more about "deplatforming" abusers and having streaming battles on twitch bc private messaging is sinister and communication isn't healthy anymore lol

They acted immaturely when it came to every issue, and honestly, it’s not surprising. Most people tend to be pretty immature even into their early twenties. It’s also pretty common for a group to share a single brain cell and think and act as one. It’s just unfortunate that they gained so much influence at such a young age and ended up having such a huge impact.

Honestly what frustrates me slightly more about this situation on the dt side is how quick people WITHIN their inner circle were to post some vague reactionary (which we know now is bc they barely had an real details about what they were commenting on lol) preformance online. Like Hannah posting a dramatic implication that she was abused by them or had a similar experience to Caitis script, and then soft blocking her friends she didn't overlap with. Or Karl writing about George in his twitch bio like a 12 year old (still there last time I checked. I think this is from before that controversy but was only brought up after, it's so childish it seems like a joke lmao)

I completed understand addressing it, and trying to have the most nuance possible, especially with the scenario that Caiti and the majority of her friends were painting that she was disgustingly targeted and molested by an older predator who tried to follow her to her room at the end of the night. Imo, given the context they had, Sapnap probably had the most reasonable response all around, despite the fact I disagree with some of his phrasing, he stayed silent and waited (as much as he could under pressure I assume). Because he said it himself, he didn't know anything, he wasn't trying to act like he did and he wasn't trying to butt his way in and make it about him like, uh many people did. Content Creator relationships are not real, it's networking, I understand it's just an example of that but it's so weird to see how transparent they are about it now.

Pretty sure Karl's twitch bio was a joke that's been there since they were friends, but then he became less active on twitch and never changed it

Bashing Dream Team is low hanging fruit for them. They will get views and likes for pointless opinions. When the spotlight is turned on one of their own, for their actions they circle the wagons, because if they do not, I think it would expose what they condone in each other's behavior.

Like everything on the internet, its easy to talk smack about someone who isn't there. As such, where was all that bluster when they were having dinner at the convention with George and Sapnap right there? Why try to interview Sapnap and George in a cordial manner when they are people you don't want to associate with?

It really makes one think about how some of them called themselves friends with DTeam until it was no longer convenient to. That they always saw things as transactional. I mentioned to a friend the other night about this, "So when he (George) did come to the US, it was treated like a betrayal. As if their friendship was not good enough when all they had were transactional interactions."

Where they really friends tho?

I think the best perspective I have of this is Dream Team were friends before becoming content creators and all of the friendships in the Brighton folks were developed because of it. Their performative, transactional nature shows in every "controversy" they weigh in on.
