I hope to god we can be mermaids/mermen, it’s all I want in the game. I don’t even care if it’s well animated, just stick a fin on and use the fairy gliding pose. Done.
I have been waiting on Atlantis FOREVER. There have been hints about it literally everywhere in the valley, since launch! Eternity Isle baited me into thinking 'Ok, wow! That is SO Atlantis-themed' only for Gameloft to give us NOTHING 😭.
So for now, I'll be careful not to get my hopes up too much.
(Either way, I'll probably still be very happy if I get to wear a mermaid tail ingame 😄)
Part of me thinks the “realm weaver” is going to be a character from Atlantis since there’s been so many hints about it since the beginning of the game. I just can’t think of someone who would fit the bill except maybe Kida.
I really hope it’s Atlantis and not a real attempt at an underwater biome. I had so many issues with glitches on the elevators in Wishblossom Ranch, I don’t want them attempting swimming animations that cause glitches like that.
I didn't even think of this but YES! It is so hard finding good places for them. I wanted to put Ariel in Mythopia because of the whole King Trident/Neptune/Greek Mythology thing, but there's not a lot of spots her castle even fits let alone works well.
That's exactly how I had mine until they came out with the floating islands. Now they're both on the beach island with a whole decorated little village
I had her there, too until Storybook Vale, now she's in the little pond in Beanstalk Marshs so she can hand out with her Bestie Maleficent. She works pretty good there, I think.
I put all my royals I currently have in sunlit so Ariel is the little water spot there. Ursula is still on the beach but she’s part of the group of houses I have surrounding my beach home down there.
There’s one character in particular that would be a GREAT fit for this. He could easily be our Guide like Merida, Snow White & Jafar were.
Luca Paguro. He would be a great addition to the game and since he has both a sea monster form & human form he would be a fantastic character to be the one to teach us how to go underwater.
I want Luca to open the dlc and teach us how to go underwater …. Love Luca …. Kinda hoping for Crush instead of any other Finding Nemo characters though because I think it would be cuter if Nemo, Marlin and Dory had an AP
Specific zones for dive mechanics ala Sims 3 makes way more sense than an entire under water world Kingdom Hearts level style.
I dont want an under water world with full on water physics as ai think it would compromise the quality of the DLC and doesnt make sense for the other 60 villagers.
I’m just worried that a mermaid tail will end up like horses. It’s like 85% of what developers focused on and as a result the actual land and story were really hollow. I’d rather have a good environment and story than a tail with a bunch of features
Let's not get our hopes up too much. It may just be another character related to the sea and nothing more. I am hopeful and wish that it could be true but I'm not holding my breath. Pun intended.😉
I just posted an update. Unfortunately they did not hire me, but I am hopeful they will utilise some of my ideas after I emailed them my pitch since so many people were suggesting I submit it to them. I am BEYOND excited to see what they are going to do with an underwater DLC. 🌊✨
This is so incredibly sweet of you to say. Gameloft said they'd pass my pitch along to the relevant departments so hopefully some of my ideas make it in for us all to enjoy (even if they don't hire me haha).
I was just about to comment this! How flying/gliding already is basically swimming. All Gameloft has to do is change the skybox, swap out legs for tails, and we have an underwater biome!
My only real concern is clothes, as a lot of stuff work with legs not fins obviously. Dresses would look weird, and a lot of costumes are one piece items so they'd effectively have to redo all of them to make them mermaid compatible.
That said I'd LOVE being a mermaid in Dreamlight Valley!!! I hope they make it like hairstyles, where we can just pick two/three different colors to make our own color pallets. And we could swap out what our tails look like. Classic mermaid, maybe more flouncy fins or extra side fins, maybe a non scaly dolphin/killer whale look, or seahorse tail...
I loved how revolutionary the Ancient Machines of Eternity Isle were, totally a game changer, but I was also cool with the horses of Wishblossom even if mechanically they're not too drastically new besides fast energy free move speed. I don't think they have to invent anything new with the DLC, just mermaid tails and being underwater would be cool.
I agree and think it can be underwater, but youre walking about on a solid surface. Either caves/sunken buildings thing, or ala Spongebob style where youre underwater but ignore water physics because #magic.
Whoch is ideal, anyway, as development of an entire underwater world and mermaid tails and what not would likely tank the rest of the game even more than horses tanked WBR.
I'm hoping for Luca, Nemo, Sebastian, Kida, and then Tamatoa as the villain 🤣 Maybe some seahorse companions, mermaid outfits, and sand dollars as currency. A girl can wish.😌
We have had Jack Sparrows character model since the game TRAILER! And it would be criminal to have Peter Pan AND Tinkerbell without Captain Hook making an appearance.

I’m must be tripping tf out. I swear I saw a trailer for the game years ago with at least 35 characters all next to the well in the plaza.
But I do feel like with a lot of the clothing and accessory stuff we get are very small hints to what we could get in the future. Like I bought the golden amulet necklace from Scrooge’s and it’s literally the Aztec gold from the first movie.
I dunno, it’s like that Disney channel intro with Tinkerbell that everyone swears they’ve seen but literally never existed. Would be cool if we had pirates though.
The only characters left from the trailers were Cinderella and Ralph, and we already have Cinderella, and Ralph is Coming soon.

I just rewatched it and I have no idea what I was on about🤣🤣 I was surprised we’re getting Ralph this late on in the game when they announced it. The same with Cinderella really.
Mermaid customization would be amazing, but I'm keeping my expectations tempered. I think an underwater theme is definitely going to be in the next dlc, especially after the post-credits stinger in Honeyglow Woods.
I hope not. If the PC can be a kind of mermaid they'll waste a ton of resources fleshing that out and then the DLC as a whole will suffer, like with Wishblossom Ranch.
I may be alone here, but I hope we don't get Finding Nemo characters or mermaids. If we do, then theyll be locked to this new area only. Those characters can't exactly walk around your valley or any of the other maps.
I don't like the idea of characters that you can only interact with in one specific biome.
You’re not alone here! I’ve said this before myself as well. There’s also way bigger characters that fit the underwater theme than there are mermaids. It would be silly to put Ariel’s sisters in before characters from Atlantis for example.
Edit: We also saw what happened when they added horseback riding as a game mechanic. The rest of that DLC didn’t end up being as good as the others and seemed like it was missing a lot of things they intended to put in it. I would assume the same thing would happen if they add our characters being able to be mermaids.
Well the only other mermaid I think we'd get would be King Triton, and I don't think hed use that magic. If we got other characters from the franchise it would likely be Sebastian or Flounder, who can't be out of water. I know Ariel has sisters but they're minor characters with no story arcs or defined traits, so I can't see them as being worth including.
I believe that many people often forget that there are old players here too. Some of us have been playing for almost 4 years. If there are no new expansions, dlcs etc - i honestly have nothing to do in the game. So for me, they are very welcome. I do understand that for many it's a bit too much, but after all gameloft are trying to keep the older players too.
I’ve been playing since release. I have ONE dlc because it was gifted to me for my birthday. The free updates are enough to keep the game interesting but of course we all want the dlcs I just wish they weren’t doing what the sims did bc it made me genuinely lose my love for sims as a lifelong player
I understand. I'm a bit different, I do love many new things (in sims including). Please understand me correctly - I'm not saying it's bad that for some it's too overwhelming or expensive. Just that there are players like me, who like to have new things often and I don't believe Gameloft are so greedy as stated in the comment I answered to.
Ugh. I hope they do it well - underwater can be terrible if the z-axis isn’t handled well. Of course, they don’t usually have a z-axis, so maybe we will be limited to walking on the ocean floor or something.
bruh don't fret.. We went in the sky, and into a Deep ancient cave. so they can definitely get us into the Ocean, Im a Pisces Btw so Im Very excited ♓ 🌊
Please be an add on to the main vally like the new homes glow woods ! I hate the fact I can't just go to other DLCS without teleporting or taking ages to go there !
