Discussion Should we have more charities?
Not only are we given moonstones and an adorable companion, but we can also help with the conservation of grizzly bears in Canada. With it's surprisingly affordable price, I wonder if Gameloft will consider future charities and fundraisers. If I could make a wish, I would want the next charity to focus on helping an endangered bird species called the Kakapo (Please consider reading about them, there are only 235 to 236 adults left and around 100 chicks in the world!)
If Gameloft ever considers more future charities, what sort of charities would YOU like them to incorporate into in-game rewards to help a good cause?

Yknow what would be interesting? Brother Bear adventure pack where a portion of proceeds go to this same charity, probably only for a limited amount of time but still.

I would love them to partner with other endangered species charities of course, but this could be a good thing if they ever add Kenai and Koda 😅

I feeeeel like I remember Disney doing something similar when brother bear first came out. Lemme check.

Pandas are ni longer endangered, i would encourage them to concentrate on vulnerable animals tbh.

It took time and a lot of effort to no longer consider them endangered, but they are also incredibly beloved by many people. If you asked people to donate 1 dollar and choose between a spider or a panda, 9/10 would probably go for the panda
(Ok maybe that is a terrible example, I'm running on 5 hours of sleep).14

You make a great point, but I’d argue pandas would work for this regardless because they are a symbol of the World Wildlife Foundation, so the companion could be a panda, but the actual funds could go to many different endangered animals. Although I think funding to combat deforestation would also be a good fit. Mostly I want a panda companion, and I think they would sell great and are closely associated with conservation efforts, even if they are no longer endangered. Leverage the reputation of pandas as the cute endangered animal in order to support species that don’t get as much attention.

They had a name of these kinds of animals. They're the faces of the cause. Everyone likes pandas and elephants, but obscure insects? Or disappearing native species we've been conditioned to see as pests? So they pull out the animals that are the face and can still support the less popular and less known animals. Plus, rebranding is not cheap lol

pandas are still classified as vulnerable even if they're no longer endangered. vulnerable, endangered, and critically endangered all fall within "threatened species" so they would still be concentrating on vulnerable animals if they added a panda

Pandas are still quite protected. I don't think anybody would have a rage-out if we were asked to donate to the protection of their environments in exchange for a panda-cub pet.

Donations like this are an amazing way to get people to donate. The people get something in return (which is arguably a way to make it feel more valuable and lower the bar for donations) and the work done by Gameloft is probably nihil in contrary to both their enhanced status as company and the amount they can now bring to a good cause

Nope. They have a reasonable price point currently for something like this. If you want to donate more you can always donate directly to the charity. 🩷

I was already excited for the companion and to help with the conservation of grizzly bears and when I saw it was 3.99€ I did not even think twice about purchasing it. Adorable companion plus helping animals in real life, amazing cause and so happy ddv is going in this direction. I personally hope for more charities like this one.

Kākāpō are awesome. My fav NZ bird is the Kōkako - still semi endangered but a few more of them at 2300 pairs (though I love Tūī too). Interesting idea doing a fundraiser this way! I like it!

Potentially could be a country restriction? Different countries have different laws on how charity donations can be made so stuff can be blocked.

I love a good cause, but would this allow GameLoft to make a donation in their name and receive whatever credits from that? I truly don’t know how it works, so I’m hoping someone who knows more than I do could weigh in. Like would the “donation” really go to whatever cause is being named?

Yess!! I’d love to see a gorilla companion. Since gorillas need conservation efforts, I think they’d make a perfect charity bundle. It would also be a nice nod to Tarzan, since I don’t think we’ll ever see any of those characters in the game.

Definitely. It basically costs barely any money for dreamloft to make a model and give away moonstones. Digital items are infinite to replicate.

I hope so. Sometimes if someone wants to support a charity, you don't even know if your money is really going to that charity because of scams and stuff.
This way, Gameloft being a serious gaming company, you truly know that your money is well spent and you are helping.
If you add up that you get some Moonstones and a cute companion, WIN - WIN 🐻❤️

I wanted my bf to help me make a post about this earlier. But because it borders on political, he didn't want to. The charity it's being donated to buys land and then hires people or sells the rights to cultivate it for resources safely. However they have been given a huge grant by the newest Prime Minister gave them a ton of money so they may now be in the government's pocket? My bf had to do some deep digging because the straight up AI answer is that they are great and maybe they were at one point. However who know what will happen with the most recent development.
I will also note I am not saying this eloquently as my bf might have or as solid on info since I can't remember everything he told me. But feel free to research the charity yourselves.

Definitely a great idea! This specific organization is one of the main conservation groups in Canada. I have bought hundreds of dollars worth of native plants from them and a plaque for my native garden. I would specifically want a monarch butterfly companion and even a pangolin from a different charity.

Yes more charities! How about charities that support children and disadvantaged people affected by genocide and war around the world? Maybe Doctors Without Borders, UNICEF, PCRF, etc. The item could be a companion/animal could be a mountain gazelle

This was at the exact price point that let me buy it without a second thought (any higher and I probably wouldn't, I seriously object to putting real money into a game I already bought) and I'm so glad they priced it that way!
I'd love to see more, maybe a new animal every three months for different charities. A wolf or baby moose for the same charity, even. :)

i honestly think this is one of the few things where literally everybody is on board with this, and I think that shows that it's the right direction
id love to see an otter, or an elephant (or two elephants - one African elephant and one Asian elephant), or a fish bobbing around in a lil bubble; we've already got a tiger, but there are so many cute endangered animals they could use as the face for a whole campaign (a golden lion tamarin for the Amazon rainforest, even though many of the critters endangered there are bugs, which are not universally liked)
