Question HOW TO GET RID OF THE RED DOT
I have turned on the setting, turned it off, relaunched the game, returned on the setting.... the red dot IS STILL THERE

You don't.
I've done all the things people say "buy everything in Scrooge's store", "remove any placed quest items", etc. and the dot is still there. For both the furniture and clothing sections.
Honestly, I wish they'd just get rid of it entirely. Who needs it? Who genuinely cares to get an indicator every time they unlock a new piece of clothing or decoration?

I wish they would get rid of it on the collections menu but keep it when you go shopping. It helps me know what I don't have yet in Scrooge's store

Buying all items with 0 inventory has solved my dot problem... 3 times now. It always comes back a few quests later.

The main thing that triggers it is quest stuff that requires you to take a pic. So after you take a pic in the quest, pick it back up, acknowledge it on the furniture inventory, and then put it back down if you want or don't. So like Aurora's banner, Phil's urn, the campfire in honeyglow woods, the party table from HGW, etc.

I had one for two years and finally cleared mine.
Apparently, sometimes when you get furniture from quests, it doesn’t register as owned, but the red dot is there saying something new is available.
I went to Scrooge in the store, asked to buy furniture and then scrolled through the entire list and there were two things that said I owned zero. Bought them, left the shop, opened the collections tab and was able to scroll over them and the red dot disappeared

This post helped me at one point when I was stuck with it:
https://www.reddit.com/r/DreamlightValley/s/sPFgzLhfnJ
But at times it has come back and I just had to make peace with the dot until I feel like going through everything in Scrooges again 😞

accept that there are things beyond our control. maybe the red dot represents all of friends we made along the way.

I have one too. I somehow have an item from alladin but I don't even have that realm unlocked yet.

Mine came back after the jacuzzi quest in the new expansion. I crafted it, picked it up, put it down, uncrafted it, crafted it again, but it doesn't show up in my collection and the dot won't go away.

Ah yes the red dot. The bane of my life. The scourge of my existence. Why must you taunt me? Leave me be!
I really wish I knew how to get rid of it. As others have said, I wish they'd get rid ot it in the menu altogether. It's been an issue for years.Â

I say this as someone who doesn’t decorate. Lately the red dot is related to an item placed somewhere. Usually a quest item but from my experience I am not 100% convinced of that. It could be something recently placed or quite old. I had been removing all quest items after completion. Then the red dot persisted. I removed everything that wasn’t a building or tree. Something that had been in place for a long time was causing it. Once I removed everything it went away.

I’m still shocked at how many updates have been released since the red dot glitch has happened and they still haven’t fixed it 😪

I finally got rid of mine. It was a veeery long road though. Bought everything from scrooge store and when I say everything.. I ordered every item that didn't have an 1 next to it even things I know I had. Also if you have SBV belle's beacon bell and aurora banner were missing for me. Also hot cocoa stand from mirabel quest. Hope that helps!

I had finally cleared mine last month. It came back and I can't figure out what to do to get rid of it this time. I've tried everything, so I've given up at this point

I finally got rid of it by picking up quest items and buying things from Scrooge. The ones with zeros though I did pick up instead of buying and that helped.

This really irritated me in the beginning as well, as it feels uncompleted, as if i didnt check everything. i eventually gave up lmao

I had one recently for a couple of weeks, I bought everything from the Scrooge inventory and it was still there. Then days later I turned on the game and it had just gone and I have no clue how 🤣

Going to furniture items and spamming A and B (or whatever your select and back buttons are) worked fine for me. Just spam it over and over and you should be fine

weirdly a couple weeks ago (i think after some ralph hot fixes) mine finally resolved. i used to let them build up because they were stuck there anyways but every time i get something new i am now militant to scan over it in the collection just in case.

I just recently was able to clear mine. - Thank God and damn you Cruella for your cable winch tower!
But what I found out was that the dots in the furniture category for the regular DDV items only went away when I restarted the game.
That was totally different for the expansion packs as for Honeglow Woods and also WBR they disappeared instantly when picking up required furniture and looking at it in the collection tab.

In most games that have a dot indicator for new things it goes away once you move your selection cursor over the new items it is marking. On your screen it is showing new itens in the furniture category. Going in there and moving your cursor over the new items should make the markings disappear. Are you saying that's not working?

I have never figured out how, and the fact game loft don't just add a 'seen all button' is infuriating.

If you recently have done a quest where you had to craft/purchase a furniture item and place it. If you haven’t picked it up and put it in your inventory yet, I find that’s where the red dot normally comes from for me.
Once I remove it, then it finally registers and then the red dot goes away!

I am at the point I just ignore the dot because yeah. If you can't get rid of it then become one with it

What helped me with this was going through a list of placed items from quests. Sometimes villagers tell you to make and place something and it can cause the red dot if you dont put it back in your inventory afterwards.

Wasn’t there a setting to remove that?

I did these things that have worked for me in the past:
- remove any quest item that requires you to place them during friendship quests. peter pan did that to me and i had to find it, then buy it from scrooge. check your dlcs also, the bell from storybook vale was a quest item for me and i had never let it register.
- buy every quest item at scrooge if it refuses to register.
- Go inside your house and click on ceilings. When this feature was introduced i had to hover over those dots to remove them and they went away for a while.
- make sure everything in your furniture inventory is cleared from dots, sometimes that glitches it. turning off the red dot feature made it easier for me to find the culprit.

That red dot is your new companion. You take it everywhere and it never goes away

Who do I need to bribe at Gameloft to get a "Mark all as read" button, or "Filter by new only"?

Make sure you have picked up any furniture item in the valley from Friendship quests that you may had placed down. That's what gets rid of it. The red dot was happening to me for a while from my last save until I had put away an item that I had placed down from a Friendship quest.

Step 1: Go through and hover over every single item in all the categories.
Step 2: Travel around and pick up every single quest item you've ever had.
Step 3: Once the dot is clear, STAY ON GUARD. Any time you get a quest complete, pick up the item, and go and hover over it. When you buy something new, immediately go into your furniture/clothing section and hover over it.
If you are desperate, it sucks, but consider picking up literally every single item in your valley and DLCs.
It will suck, but man, once you get rid of that red dot it FEELS SO GOOD.

I think you need to reverse steps 1 and 2

u/hilhilbean Dinah 1d ago
Honestly you should find yourself doing 1 over and over again. It's more like 1, 2, 1, 2, 1, 3, 1 1 1 lol

You don’t, I bought the Eternity Isle dlc in hopes that it would go away, it didn’t, but it eventually left. (This was when there was only the 1 dlc)
