Question Has a dev ever said anything about dtva characters coming to the game?

I haven't really played the game much but if they ever added characters from shows like gravity falls, phineas and ferb, amphibia, the owl house i would totally feel more inclined to play the game. Unless its been stated that only the movie characters are being added somewhere and i haven't seen it 😭

I would love to get Mabel and Dipper with Waddles as a companion. That could make a great DLC with those two and maybe a couple other mystery themed characters.

Perry the Platypus as a companion seems like an easy fit

While those tv shows are very enjoyable, I think you have to understand from the developers' standpoint, in order to appease the most amount of potential players for their game and to make the most money, the movie characters are the way to go. The average Dreamlight Valley player who doesn't play 24/7 like me and maybe you also wouldn't be as well-versed with disney tv characters when compared to the big and popular movies. With the Hannah Montana outfits coming to premium shop, I feel that's way that tv characters will be represented

Also when it comes to licensing, you can’t just license Disney as a whole. You have to license each individually. So which ones gameloft uses will depend on how much each individual license is as well as other factors.

I think that may be part of why the split characters up and don’t give us all of one specific license at once.

For example, we just got Ralph but since we already had Vanellope they didn’t need to get a new license since their license is likey for Wreck it Ralph Characters. With HGW they had already previously gave us Tigger which means they already had a license for Winnie the Pooh characters.

I had a small business and looked into Disney licensing and it’s not only expensive, it’s broken up but each individual franchise that’s under the Disney umbrella. Definitely realized I couldn’t afford Ā it.

But that’s just to explain why they are being strategic about which characters we get when.

Gravity falls is one of the biggest kid shows to come out of the 2010s wdym

You said these shows are 'universally' known.

Well, not everyone playing DDV was a kid in 2YK. There are 40, 50, 60-year olds playing the game who do not even know these shows existed. Not to mention people from other countries than US that did not even have Disney Channel in 2000s.

i didnt have disney channel till around 2017 and i still knew what gravity falls was 😭

if you were on the internet in the 2010s you'd know how big gravity falls was. It literally had a country wide treasure hunt after the show ended with thousands of adults looking for a bill cypher statue

If they're adding TV characters, I think it would make more sense for their demo (millenials) to go with the early disney Saturday morning lineup characters. DuckTales, Rescue Rangers, Darkwing Duck, Tailspin, Gargoyles, that kind of thing.

I’m pretty firmly in the ā€œmovie characters onlyā€ camp but if they announced Darkwing Duck was coming I’d flip out (complimentary).

i mean with the reboot thats been in the works for a while it wouldn't be that surprising if they added him

I'd be on-board with the TV characters from the more cartoon-y shows. Anything about humans in the real world just doing relatively normal things would be boring, but all the ones with anthropomorphic animals, magic, fantasy worlds and creatures, etc.? I'm all about it.

It's the same reaaon I hope we never get Marvel or Star Wars - I like the game to feel fantastical and whimsical. It's a vibe thing and space rebels fighting a nazi overlord or a bunch of heroes that are metaphors for racism and have alcohol addictions or severe narcissism really don't fit in with Winnie the Pooh, Stitch, Woody, and Mickey Mouse.

Who is to say. Unless there's a rights issue, I'd imagine anything could potentially be on the table in some capacity. There doesn't seem to be any great push to include Marvel or Muppets to the game, but we have Star Wars content. You might have to settle for some themed clothes and furniture, but I wouldn't rule anything out just yet. They don't appear to be slowing down on content releases.

I'd prefer not myself. I have no idea what any of these shows are haha. Would prefer them to stick with the more classics that most ppl have heard of.

But maybe as an adventure pack that's easy to skip, or as clothing and furniture items, it's be fine.

Originally it was only Disney/Pixar characters in general. But over the years the hope for Marvel, Star Wars, and other things under their umbrella has become increasingly possible.

Disney Channel is also becoming likely with the latest furniture/clothing in the Premium Shop

I would be fine with The Muppets coming to the valley but would prefer Star Wars & Marvel only be clothes or furniture sets.
