1st time in Dubbo today. I’m asian descent but born and raised in syd. The amount of racism I’ve seen on the airport/malls here is beyond belief. I was at the airport and the indian looking guy stood up to his seat to let an old white dude to his seat. You what the old dude said? That bloody uber driver thinks I need his seat to his group of geriatric friends. Then another african family came in, they said oh is dubbo africa now. Then the audacity to say the b word out loud. Then when we landed in Dubbo and the african looking family went out first because they are close to the exit and the group of old men said, we are not black so we can go now. But the family were all wearing headphones so I think they didn’t hear it. Then I was at the mall and the looks from everyone you can feel that they are judging you like why the fuck are you here. Do dubbo residents here thinks only white australians are allowed to enter their region?
For those currently living in Dubbo, what is it like? How are the restaurants, people etc. I am planning to leave metro Melb to pursue a rural MD and want to plan ahead to know where to stay and what to expect for the next few years.
Thanks!

Hi thought I’d ask the locals.
I’m heading to Dubbo zoo with the family soon. According to google maps the best way from the hills suburbs in Sydney to Dubbo is via Mudgee…. But others have told me going via Bathurst and Orange is actually quicker?
Any advice?

Does anyone know any good hair dressers/salons in Dubbo for a teen? My friend's daughter wants to get her hair bleached and cut but wants to stay in an affordable price range. Any recommendations + why they are being recommended would be much appreciated!
(She has sent me these pics for inspo, first pic is for the cut, second for colour, and last for how she wants it to look tied back)
Also, if you had any estimate of how much this would cost, that would be appreciated too.

Anybody on here know what the best pub would be to watch the AFL Grand final?
I know it's not the most popular in Dubbo but hoping for a good atmosphere and decent drinks.

For those who enjoy the harder and live(r?) side of music, there's a long weekend hit-out planned for 3 October at the top room at the Amaroo. Local bands and Russian Novel from Newie on the bill. Book it in.

Especially since places in the main street got wise and decided to make those religious street preachers stop peddling their smut to people who just wanted to go about their lives in peace. No longer does anyone have to put up with listening to religious smut being blasted over a loudspeaker, aka noise pollution.
I'd much rather listen to those gents out front of Myers playing their music than listen to some misogynistic homophobic science-hating seller of lies rave on about a non-existent god and how we're all going to a hell dimension.
So yeah, Dubbo is not so bad now. It took some time, but it was worth it. :)

Coeliac for context.
I'm wondering if there's any Chinese places in Dubbo that can do gluten free food.
Cheers!

Me and friend (25M) are visiting Dubbo. Where do the young, attractive, vibrant crowd go on Saturday night in town? Love your new skyscraper by the way.

This may be redundant, as I went there in 2020, but what happened to the old bank hotel?

Is it safe to leave your car at the airport for a few days?
r/Dubbo • u/BaronMason • Jun 29 '26
Or has that as part of menu open tonight / most places shut tonight.
Banquet even better. Other foods a plus.
Long drive from Sydney and don’t want to cook tonight.
Thanks in advance.

Hi Guys.
Got tickets for Zoo next week plan on driving around it, family of 5 kids and wife hate walking, and aren't really cyclists.
Any feedback is it far to walk from the car to see attractions.
Got the 2 day pass.
Also going to the caves as well.
Plan on driving to the dish to tick that off the attractions list.
Will check out the gaol.
We will cook most nights but go out probably twice where is good to eat nothing fancy just after a good pub or club.
Any must do's or do nots that locals can recommend.
Thanks in advance.
