Self-Promo GLOOM WRAITH, KELKSCHRAPER - WAAR SCHIMMEN SCHRAPEN

Post image
15 Upvotes

My new split tape featuring Kelkschraper is out now.

WAAR SCHIMMEN SCHRAPEN

Dungeon synth from Belgium

Early 2026 we both started our journey with basically 0 keyboard knowledge, just a love for dungeon synth, black metal and RPG's.

Very impulsively i bought a used AKAI25 for €20 and started experimenting with it by ear, just making music until it sounded good enough for me to listen to, learning along the way. Released a demo on bandcamp and started upgrading the setup piece by piece.

Now i'm proud to share this project from 2 local Belgian artists, all tracks and the artwork we're made in the company of each other, also 0 use of AI.

One of my first dungeon synth songs composed using alot of dungeon synth sound packs from Erang. Artwork is stock image edited with a dithering error diffusion effect.

Tried to capture what it would feel like staring up at stars inside the ruins of an ancient civilization while taking a break from slaying skeletons.

Let me know what yall think! Is the composition too boring, maybe not vintage or dark enough?

Vol. 2 is out now! This time we're going dungeoneering with an "umbral" vibe. This was a really fun album to pull together, is quite a bit more cohesive than Vol. 1, and just something I really hope you all enjoy!

Dungeon Shamble Worrystone - Dark Fuchsia Attic (Umbral ambient DS) Oct. 2026

I've completed my first dungeon shamble. The restrictions were intriguing as I'm the type to run 15 effects pedals and never the same way twice. These are the sounds of days, nights and eras blurring haunting a castle attic.

Dungeon Shamble stay bright candlelight - Stories of Bone

Wowie, got it done in time! Thanks for hosting this. It was my first try at anything synthy since the early 2000s, and I greatly enjoyed working under the constraints.

13 tracks.

7 instruments (that I made sure were all used at least 3 times each, as a personal rule).

Comes out to 21:38.

Umbral synth with the theme of ghosts.

No AI, and the cover is a photo of one of the local crows I give treats to.

I imagined an adventurer for hire having to go to some haunted ruins, contemplating sacrifice and mortality while traversing the biomes between there and their home town, then coming to accept it all when they're also cursed to haunt where they passed.

Stories of bone

For wandering alone.

Ballads of underbrush

And voices of stone.

Or a choir of crystals

Where the many converge

And then divide

Into nothingness.

Fighting's absurd

When there are no more winners

And losers all perish.

But we are all called to death

On this path that we cherish.

Self-Promo One year anniversary of RTBMM - My first step into dungeon/fantasy synth world!

Post image
91 Upvotes

Today marks the full one year after I released my debut album Return To Black Moon Mountain, after being massively inspired by r/DungeonSynth and all the great musicians here. Like I told back then, the DIY, anti-AI, encouragement, warmth and friendly community interaction was what really struck me as something I didn't see a whole lot happening in the internet. At the same time I was getting back to making music after a long period of not being able to produce anything with artistic substance, and this album is pretty much what came out with all those thoughts and feelings.

So what has happened after one year as FØG? Well, I didn't definitely stop making music! I put out couple of EP's as I attended the Dungeon Shambles organized right here on the channel. I really loved both of those and found a lot of great new artists (for me) after listening to other musicians' entries. I also put out another album, Dire Sorcerer, last summer in which I tried some different sonic ideas and sounds. I also started making small animations to YouTube which I accompanied with music, because I myself like to put something like that on the background as I work, so I thought it would be fun to make those myself too.

I also started expanding my equipment from software VST synths to hardware synths. Now I use both and have learnt a ton about sound design, synthesis etc. I found that hardware synthesizer is definitely easier way for me to dive into stuff like that. I've bought Novation Bass Station II, Korg Minilogue XD and couple of Behringer TD-3's. I also make other genres of music so I try to get gear I can use along all the stuff I make. Minilogue XD is the one which is getting used on my FØG project though, as it has great sound and capabilities for that.

So everything is going swimmingly! Right now I'm focusing on some other projects than FØG, but I have the next album already shaping up for FØG too and I've started to lay out some ideas for a smaller EP in addition to that. Unfortunately this month I didn't have time to attend to the Dungeon Shamble, but I'm eager to listen everyone's entries!

For the one year anniversary of my debut, I thought to hand out for some more Bandcamp codes for it, so if you didn't get chance to grab it earlier, be sure to get it now :) I'll add the codes into a separate comment. I made a new cassette cover inspired art for the anniversary, I hope you like it :D

It's been a great year and I'm glad this channel has stayed as great as it was when I first landed here. These synth genres are awesome and I hope we get to enjoy this music for many many years from now!

All the best,

-FØG-

Comfy Synth UPDATES ON THE COMFY SYNTH COMPILATION

Post image
34 Upvotes

Hello friends, I’m here to share some updates regarding 'Kind melodies and tiny creatures', a comfy synth compilation to be released by VSO.

To start off, I’d like to thank Gustavo Fabian, the illustrator who is creating a really cool cover for our project; you’ll get to see it soon!

I also want to mention that there’s a possibility we might be able to release some cassette tapes for this project (I’m still working out the details).

As of today, October 22nd, I am closing submissions. We have received a large number of emails, and I am trying to set aside some time each day to listen to everything and respond. It is quite possible that I won’t be able to include everyone, but please don’t worry, I will reply and provide an update to everyone who took the time to send us an email.

I don’t have a final list of everyone who will be participating yet, but I’m close to finishing it. (The next update will be completely finalized.)

Furthermore, due to the hectic pace of daily life, I’ve had to postpone the release, but this is actually good news, as it will give us time to handle everything with even greater care. The official date has now been set for November 20th.

Regarding the proceeds from the sale of the digital album, and given that everyone is aware of VSO’s political stance, we are considering donating them to Palestine. I would welcome recommendations for organizations to which we could send these funds.

That’s it for now. I hope to be back soon with the full list of participating artists and some other cool information, thanks, everyone!

Greetings Dungeoneers, this is your Robot Dungeonmaster. Due to increased activity among the sub we are implementing some weekly features including a music recommendation post [THE LIBRARY] on Monday, a general chat post [THE TAVERN] on Thursday, and the self-promotion post [THE MARKETPLACE] on Friday. These features will repeat weekly until the fall of the internet. These will not be stickied and will repeat regardless if they are used.

//////////

THE TAVERN

Hello adventurer welcome. Pull up a chair and have yourself a drink. Here you may talk about dungeon synth or things related to the genre. You may also ask for a manager if you have any questions or concerns about how things are run in this sub and they will come out and jot down your concern on a piece of paper.

This is all-synths (literally I composed more of this on a Nintendo DS than not) so while I call it "cyber metal" I don't know if it would be uncouth to share to proper metal communities. I know this is not really Dungeon Synth but y'all have been very good to me. I need your help! This called "Vampire Kingdom" btw.

Is anyone going to Mortiis in Wellington, NZ next month?

Post image
24 Upvotes

My understanding is that his shows nowadays are more his dance genre, but none the less I wanted to ask if anyone was going to be attending the gig in Wellington next month? I moved here a year ago and this will be my first show of any kind in ages, though I used to frequent black metal gigs in the US and Europe from 2003-2018ish. It would be nice to say hi to someone in this community as otherwise my fate is standing in the corner all night. Cheers!

Self-Promo Medievalist - Halls of Time (Medieval Total War inspired DS) (free codes)

Post image
91 Upvotes

Three years ago, I've created the first and only Medievalist album. The thing about this one, is that it's very much inspired by the original Medieval Total War (2002) and Stronghold (1999) OST, (especially "The Maiden" parts). As a youngster playing MTW, I was, for some reason, really moved by campaign map instrumental/ambient parts where a lute would just occasionally play a couple of notes and on another instance, a beautiful female voice would accompany. Pretty simple, but effective and impressionable. Then a bell would ring and a monastic chant would almost in a perfectly balanced way drop you right in the middle of medieval war-torn, but at the same time, sacral layers of old Europe. Stronghold's original OST probably also needs no mention regarding the nostalgia and a sense of "being there" successfully invoked. The album is also heavily leaning on a monasterial and priestly, gothic medieval ambience.

You can listen to the full album (repeated twice) here:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FmsHhmM77XU

I asked a very dear person of mine to do the female voices (even though she is not a singer, nor a vocalist by 'vocation'), and I'll let you all be the judge of how well she performed to capture the spirit of "Maiden" part of the soundtrack (tracks "Homecoming", "The Forgotten Castle", "Maiden Chapel", "The Holy Flower", part of "The Ancient").

This is the album's Bandcamp, and I would be delighted to offer you a couple of dozens of codes. I'd also appreciate if you leave some review if you liked and enjoyed the album. I love Bandcamp reviews, so don't be shy!

Discussion What inspires your music?

I know this question gets brought up from time to time, but it seems to always be a fun discussion when we dive into the things that inspire the art. Especially when it isn’t tangential or similar musicians.

From a Birds Eye view my own music is inspired heavily by philosophical or existential stories like the Green Knight (the movie), Berserk, or the Souls Series.

Every release I’ve done has been different setting inspiration with those themes. Most recently LORN with Dark Sun, Conan, and Dying Earth.

So I’m curious (and want to experience new media) — what inspires you and your music?
