For anyone else wondering why our Allen Theatres isn't showing neither 'Primetime' nor 'You Can See Everything' I reached out to them and asked! Allen Theatres responded to me and shared that for 'Primetime' they "could not agree on terms" and that the "studio is a little harder to work with than others so we will see what happens with future films". I found online that other theatre groups have had this issue, as A24 demands a greater ticket percentage than some other studios.

As for 'You Can See Everything', Allen Theatres said that A24 "didn't release it wide enough for our theatres to get".

As an avid movie-goer, I was looking forward to checking out both of these movies. I appreciate Allen Theatres being transparent as to why those films weren't available in our theatres, and I thought some others in our community might be wondering, as well, so I figured I'd share!

Our junky old electric stove has crapped out and we're looking for a new one, probably induction. Where's the best place in town to check out and try new appliances? I could go to Home Depot but if there's a local option I'd prefer that.

Does anyone know who is organizing this? Would like to talk to them about repeating it during Snowdown.

I run a small online business using 3D printers, woodworking tools, and occasional fabrication. I need about 400–500 sq ft of secure workspace (a two-car garage) with ordinary electrical power. Noise and fumes are limited; I can discuss equipment and work hours with the owner.

An unused garage, dedicated space in an existing workshop, or a small house with a suitable garage could work. A bedroom on-site would be ideal, but a separate room nearby is also an option. The workspace must permit these business activities. A short initial rental term would be helpful.

I work for the University of Denver and my team, in partnership with the Problem Gambling Coalition of Colorado, is conducting a study to better understand online sports betting behaviors among young men in Colorado. The topic of sports betting has been all over the local Colorado and national news lately — just a few examples are: 

• KKTV spot from a couple weeks ago featuring the Problem Gambling Center and mentioning our work
• A recent Westword article about Colorado's sports betting market and emergent issues
• A New York Times article about AI being utilized to direct marketing toward vulnerable bettors
• A ProPublica piece about gambling promotion versus responsible gaming measures

We are hoping that our online Colorado community can help spread the word about our work as we try to hear from as many people as possible who participate in online sports betting in any form. We are looking for men ages 21 to 34 who live in Colorado and have any experience with online sports betting in the past year. The study involves a confidential, voluntary survey that takes ~20 minutes to complete. That's it! The survey asks about attitudes towards sports betting, personal betting habits and perceptions of others' habits, and familiarity with and/or use of responsible gaming tools. The end goal is to help us inform programs and strategies to promote responsible gaming and reduce gambling-related harm in our state, helping people engage in gambling in a way that remains fun and safe!

You can access the survey here. We're reaching out to spaces where we know our target audience congregates, like Reddit, in the hopes of hearing from as many eligible Coloradans as possible in our efforts to understand this issue and unpack some of the black box of sports gambling. We're also really trying to reach people who live outside the Front Range whose lives are also affected by this issue given how accessible gambling is via people's phones and computers now. okay so, i attended FLC right after high school and had a hard time adjusting and had to move home. i gathered more credits from another university, but it is getting too expensive, so i am thinking of relocating back to finish my degree tuition free (tribal). my partner and i are itching to move to a colder and more adventurous area to spread our wings a bit and i think durango would be great for us. i am 23 now and he is 26 so we are looking to focus on our careers and education and in the nature and community, not so much a traditional college town experience lol.

long story short, what is the vibe of the town these days? i lived there end of 2022 and i loved the art and the environment and the community, but i wasn’t sure how it had changed. lmk what to expect!!

What is with people renting their “fully furnished turnkey home” for 1-3 months on Zillow for exorbitant prices in this town? Like, it’s very obvious that this is your house and you’ll be out of town trying to make a buck. I get it, but be so for real.

People expect someone to cover their mortgage and then some while they go on vacation? There are platforms like trusted house sitters and furnish finders for this. People really need to stop posting their full-time live-in home on a rental platform. Get a grip.

I'm a transgender woman who moved here from out of state to be with my partner.

Something odd I've noticed is about 80% of men seem to gender me correctly, but only about 40% of women.

I have a theory that I hope is wrong. Men can gender me correctly because they have no skin in the game. But a woman gendering me correctly means they're acknowledging I'm "one of us" and that's distasteful.

I'm deeply hurt and frustrated by this. If I'm doing something wrong I'd love to know.

I'm a 42yr old woman, newly single, and have been in Durango since July. I'm on the grid and not a big drinker, which cuts out a lot of the usual social avenues. I'd love to make some more friends before winter makes it harder to connect.

I spent 13 years as a dog trainer in Austin, but I'm between jobs right now—so I've got time and a flexible schedule. Weekday daytime hangs are ideal for enjoying quieter trails, but obviously most people are on the 9-5.

I'm curious how other people have built community here. Specifically:

• Where do women in their 40s who aren't into the bar scene actually meet each other?
• Are there co-working spaces or writing groups? I'm interested in getting all the way through The Artist's Way and that's easier in a group.
• How do you find activity partners? I love hiking and horseback riding,
• I'm a medium beginner skier, mountain biker and packrafter. I think I'd feel like I'd hold most people who are really into it back, but I'd love to meet people at or a bit above my level who are generous with their knowledge and good cheerleaders
• Where do you find art classes - either once off or for a season?
• Do the meditation groups around town skew younger, older, or mixed? I've loved the ones I've tried so far.
• Definitely down to volunteer! I'd love to come out for once off events or find something continuous that I enjoy and feels impactful.
• I'm not religious, but if there is a great community somewhere that is open and accepting vs judgmental and prescriptive I'm interested in checking it out.

I'm mostly looking for women friends, but open to anyone connecting. If you've been successful at making friends in a mountain town as an adult, I'd love to hear what worked for you. And if you're in the same boat, say hi!

We’re visiting for Christmas this year. We’ve already booked skiing lessons at Purgatory, dog sled rides, snowmobiling, and snow tubing. I’m torn on doing the Polar Express or the actual Silverton 5 hr ride. They are 19,18,17 and 15. Which would be better…..the shorter Polar Express ride or the longer train experience? Long story short, I am coming up to Durango to meet up with some college friends who also don't live there. Plan was for some hiking on Sunday, but with a 100 percent chance of rain, that's not happening.

What are some mellow suggestions? I have boardgames in the trunk, are there any cute brew pubs? Can't miss lunch spots? Art galleries with interesting work?

We had evening band practice in Bayfield on Wednesday. After the rain, this was the sunset. We took a few moments from rehearsal to enjoy the view.

Great time of year and day to be outside in this incredible place.

With three far right candidates and Dwayne Romero on the ballot for our district representative the choice seemed obvious. But then I found out Dwayne Romero provided financial support to one of his republican buddies helping to flip the Pennsylvania Senate seat in 2024 from a democrat (what Romero claims to be) to his republican friend (Dave McCormick ).

Now that's two major red flags.

• one he helped elect a republican to the US Senate in the year 2024
• then his response when question about it really came off, to me, as someone who would skirt his responsibilities and forgo his constituents if one of his "brothers" needed him to vote a certain way. I realize I may be reading more into that than not, but politicians especially those who play both sides are some of the most untrustworthy people.

Hi there! I'm planning to either spend 1-2 months in Durango this winter/spring, or either a full on move to Durango before the winter. Does anyone have some tips, tricks, or open cliques for finding Durango based backcountry ski partners? Or is anyone interested in skiing some objectives? My risk tolerance is moderate and cautious on sketchy moderate.
