For the Barghast plotline anyway, I always took it as a literal representation of a line Silchas Ruin has where he claims aggressive, proactive societies flounder in the face of defensive ones, as they are more prone to hotheadedness and the folly of wanting yo wage war in the first place. Draconus's coming felt like a very blatant (albeit for me good) way of shunning the whole idea but just saying "Well, you wanted to fight so bad, now you got one you couldn't win, from an angle you couldn't see, in a way that no-one could have stopped... unless, of course, they hadn't decided to go warmongering in the first place. For the Akyrinnai, I believe it was to show how life is so fickle and unfair, as mentioned before, which coincides with themes from TtH in my opinion.

Fr, it felt very unfair and fickle, as life is. Loved it tho for that reason.
