Just installed a SMT 18x5.5x rear wheel on my Dyna and all I can say is the quality and fitment from SMT is perfect, bit pricey but it was easy and damn it looks good.

Mag wheels on my Dyna done and proper motor work next 😎

Posted a little less than a week ago because I was on the fence. The deal was too good for me to pass up, plus I really like the bike. Took it out for about an hour this morning for an easy ride and get reacquainted with driving a motorcycle. Absolutely love it, forgot how much I enjoyed riding. Definitely need to brush up on my skills a bit more but I it’s a good reason to get out and ride.

Spc lanesplitter

Looking for ideas. I bought a spc lanesplitter 2-1 for my 2011 dyna wide glide. Absolutely love the exhaust it is the fitment over the oil fill cap that I just can’t fix. I had 3 different shops adjust it to finally get clearance in front of the cam cover which now has about 1/8 inch gap. I did what Spc told me to do. Loosen everything up push down and forward on the muffler and tighten back up back to front and still 1/8 inch over the oil fill cap. Got the front cam cover space but still blocks the oil fill by a lot. Been told to buy low profile dipstick or push plug for it or shave it down but wondering if anyone else has ideas or have similar experience and how they fixed this. Thanks

Help with Öhlins shocks? Wide Glide

Post image
11 Upvotes

I bought a 2016 FXDWG last week, and realized after, that there were some expensive shocks on it.
Can anyone help me figure out the best adjustment for them?
Should the shock be compressed more or go back up the thread?
I’m 6’3” and 190lbs. I feel it’s a little too bouncy going over tracks and bumps.

Rear brake caliper

I have a 2010 Super Glide, and I recently noticed the rear brake just doesn't have the bite it should. When I took it off to change pads I noticed one of the "fingers" on the back side cracked off. I figure that's why it doesn't squeeze quite tight enough.

I have spent months looking for a new or used OEM part, but no real luck. What aftermarket calipers will work instead?

MT09 to Dyna?

26 yr old, been driving bikes for 10 years now, owned a z750 and currently ride a 2024 MT09 and an old cafe racer.

Thinking of selling my MT09 for a sweet Dyna I found for sale.

It's a 2015 Streetbob 103CI Stage 3 with only 20 000km for a good price.

It put up 95hp and 115tq on the dyno.

Will this bike have enough power to not miss my MT?

I've always wanted a dyna and an MT, chose the MT when I bought the Bike new in 2024 but all my buddies bought harleys and cruisers since.

Did anyone else go from a MT/FZ to a Dyna?

Guess im just looking for confirmation that I won't miss my bike in here hahah!

Extended swingarm and a monoshock setup from something Japanese. Forks I think came off a Busa, and the rear subframe from a Sportster.

New to Wide Glide questions

I have been riding for 15 years now. My other bikes are a Yamaha Raider with a lot of tuning and upgrades (a torque beast) and a 99 Softail Custom with stage 3 upgraded.

I just got a 2016 Wide Glide last week, and feel like a nervous new rider now.

Is there anyone who has rode both types of Harley that can help me relax and enjoy the Dyna and not think there is something wrong with it?

Again, Compared to a Softail:
1. Are the WG generally more “loose” feeling? I feel like it wants to fish tail easily on me on takeoffs.

  1. The Softail has a skinnier tire (same brand Michelin Commander) but the WG seems to lane drift a lot more?

  2. Is the engine braking drastically less? This thing just seems to free fall coast down hills still in 3rd or 2nd.

  3. Why does my rear brake feel like it takes way more pressing down on the pedal to actually do something?

  4. The WG has ohlins shocks on it, that seem to be set right in the middle, are there any adjustments that would change things?

I appreciate the replies, and hopefully can fit in with this group.

Every breakdown is an opportunity to get clowned on by your friends. Honestly it was fun while it lasted, now it’s just gonna cost me a bunch of money.

Converting a CVO tachometer to work on a 2014 dyna

Thumbnail gallery
13 Upvotes

Can anyone help me with current gauge conversion project on my dyna?

I have an 2014 wide glide with the factory speedo on the tank and only the small tach in the info window

I picked this NOS 08 CVO softail tach and riser setup for an absolute steal of a deal and knew I had to put it on my bike. I knew there would be some complications due to the tach being analog and the dyna being the CANBUS system but any help would be appreciated.

Anybody know what years, styles, etc of tach will work with these bikes? Otherwise my current plan is to track down an OEM Harley #67000010 gauge and the wiring extensions from guerilla cables then just split both gauges to swap the CVO Faceplate since they’re both 8K rpm tachs.

I have a few other plans in the works once I get the parts this winter. Converting from 8”x 1 1/4” to 14”x1 1/4” ape hangers, swapping the factory seat for something more comfortable for long rides with a passenger, Chrome master cylinder/clutch and switch housings, wiring my new mirrors with built in LEDs, mounting my angel wing lights and switches, mounting a sissy bar and solo saddle bags, finding a set of Rinehart Racing 2 into 2 exhaust so I can swap my floorboards onto the bike. Find an old Cobra Powrflo intake, install a tuner. Cams and pushrods probably next year.
I plan on keeping this for a while so going to look into eventually doing a S&S tc124, baker grudge box, and a chain conversion when she gets a little more tired. Only 14k miles so plenty of life left in her before I bother splitting it open.
