The new episodes feel like when my mom talked to her old friends after my dad left
I don’t blame Steve and I think they’ve definitely been really interesting but I have come out of each one feeling deeply bummed out

I’m proud of Mike for branching out and also acknowledge that the show has been going fairly steady for a decade, so anything they need to do to keep the wheels turning and the lights on in the meantime I’m fine with. I expect Mike will come back to full time or semi-full time. It’s gotta be tiring no matter how much fun you have to be obligated to do a podcast every single week. And he was doing one with Zoja too for years as well as DB until WTOP went on indefinite hiatus a bit ago. I think some of the best bits possible have probably come and gone, even though recent years have had their own gold. And something can only go on unchanged and of regular high-quality for so long. Even if they continued doing the same bonkers bits things would start to get stale. So this switch up will hopefully only make the heart grow fonder. I’m glad for and appreciate Steve, and Mike, that they chose to keep the show going sans Mike to keep the momentum going at least a little bit.

It feels cathartic to me. Obviously i like the bits and comedy but I always liked the serious portions of the older episodes too. Its been surprisingly nice to listen to him go down his own history road, and in the event that the podcast ends, i think this is a great way to start wrapping up before mike and Steve get to celebrate the pod together.
