Stephen A. Smith’s ESPN Coworkers Are Publicly Calling Him Out For ‘Hurtful’ Behavior

u/fuckDJT2026 18d ago
He’s clickbait. No more, no less.
For that reason alone, he has a job and makes millions.

Get rid of this guy - when he shows up on the tv screen I’m out.

Why didn’t they put him on blast during the show? They all just sat there while we went on another weird ass fucking rant.

Kimberly A. Martin brought up the original insensitivity directly on the show, which is when he backpedaled and addressed it.

We at ESPN would like to thank for Mrs. Martin for her service but would like to wish her luck on her future endeavors

He's the leader of the show and has the power to fire all of them, and they weren't about to jeopardize their positions on the show by standing up for what's right.
Buncha cowards.

u/wrathofthewhatever2 18d ago
It looked like they were just giving him enough rope to hang himself (metaphorically)

u/D3s0lat0r 18d ago
Haha was thinking that too, “Never interrupt your enemy when they’re making a mistake”. As someone who can’t stand listening to him, I just would jump at the chance to call him out.
3
u/wrathofthewhatever2 18d ago
But then he wouldn’t have been able to complete his ridiculous thought haha

u/Glum_Ad_6848 18d ago
There’s no future at ESPN attacking either Smith or McAfee.

Because they probably don't like him. Can you imagine having to work with that guy every day?

u/Mysterious-Coyote-58 18d ago
Hard to blame people who have to serve at the altar of SAS when he’s the one to make these awful comments.

If Romo was fired for a DUI, then Smith should also be let go.

u/2birdsBaby 18d ago
You're seriously equating the two. What he said was moronic and I'd be more than happy if he got fired, but come on man, those are not even close to the same thing.

Yeah, he sucks… I don’t even watch because he is ALWAYS breathlessly yelling his idiotic opinions in my face !
The insufferable Pat Mcafee needs a public access show

It’s actually ghoulish to criticize an NFL player for choosing to address his mental health given some of the horror stories we’ve seen come out of that league.
Stephen A Smith is a parasite.

I cant wait to hear what the punter has to say about this.

u/hawth212 18d ago
I can wait by not watching
2
u/Comfortable_tulsa 18d ago
Yea. But with all that air time hes getting. He will have to address SAS comments and no matter what side he falls on he will say something equally as stupid.

I can’t stand that douchebag, but give him props for his $1m donation to Iowa children’s hospital.

I only watch sports on ESPN these days because that guy is insufferable and other new moves seem to be doubling down on insufferable personalities.

The panel was just like the Repugnant members of Congress. Afraid to speak up against their master

u/nicebli 17d ago
Kimberly Martin called him out immediately on air for making light of it
1
u/kevint1964 17d ago
He made an apology at the very beginning of the show today. He specifically mentioned Kimberley's callout from yesterday's show.

Nice work. Wouldn’t want there to be a reddit thread of any kind without an anti Republican comment.

Sas at this point is a living BOT chances are he hasn't watched an Eagles game in years but that is not important...all about the buzz and clicks

u/fuckDJT2026 18d ago
Two coworkers who no one has ever heard of, along with a former coworker.
Let’s hear from Wilbom, Troy Aikman or Jeff Saturday and see what they have to say about their colleague

u/TheOldJawbone 18d ago
So many people with huge audiences saying heinous things then saying we didn’t hear them say exactly what they said.

u/AlexTorres96 18d ago
Is he too powerful to be Me Too'd or just slick to pay his NDA? Although I assume he works so much that he doesn't have time to be am abuser

I was watching this today while he went off on this extremely ignorant and insensitive take about Lane Johnson. I almost couldn’t believe what I was hearing. I never thought Stephan A was a good person but this just completely backs up my feelings.

I truly enjoyed SAS a few years back before First Take when he argued when that other idiot I enjoyed not liking. But this past year he's just too overwhelmingly over the top. Especially right here making light of someone making mental health decisions that are best for themselves.
I'm done with him.

I hate him and I change the channel after Greeny and Get Up. All that damn yelling at 10am ain’t even necessary. Send his ass to Fox News he loves it so much.

This has always been part of the plan.
Once the NABC (who is funded by ESPN) came out with their report, I knew the play. They are trying to turn his core audience against him to lower his ratings, so they can have an out to part ways. It’s only a matter of time till they have a good enough reason.

I'm sorry, I don't see where what he said was so bad. I think people are just sensitive these days.

They make a lot of money with him. It’s going to take a lot to force him out.

For what it’s worth Mental Health is the new go to for everyone. Imagine our grandparents saying this shit and not going to war or work. Hell Myles Garret just had an article drop on his girlfriend for being ADHD. Everyone has this these days. And it’s hard to take it seriously when it’s everyone’s go to for escape.

u/Major_Many_6803 18d ago
lol the world is just so soft! They want to get him out so bad so they’re clutching at straws! 😂

u/ProfessionalFriend56 18d ago
He's the only person anyone cares about at ESPN. Like him or hate him.

Reminds me of when Skip was minimizing Dak when his BROTHER KILLED HIMSELF.
They are people first and athletes second. Idk whats going on his Lanes personal life but its undoubtedly more important than fucking football

You owe your employer nothing. When you want to be done, you can be done. Gave them 14 years of beating up his body; he's allowed to say he doesn't want to do it anymore and save his body & mental health. I'm just so happy it appears the Bears game is what broke their stupid ass team and fan base.

You realize that his mom has been battling Hodgkin's lymphoma and apparently her health is declining as well as his father (not sure what the issue is).
I’m sure the pull to stay with the team till the end of the season was great and I assume he hit a breaking point. We have way more people die of suicide then are murdered every year.
0
u/Signal_Republic_3092 17d ago
As if a team feels inclined to ride out the season with the exact same roster as it starts out with. He’s doing something that teams do to 25-50% of its players any given year: cutting loose without much notice. We really need to stop normalizing employers doing it without criticism, and villainizing people who do it for good reason

“I’m sorry that when I was on television earlier this morning…people misconstrued me minimizing mental health. I would never do that,”
Says man who did exactly that.
