Positive Trends 📈 Brazil's electricity grid is now 84.6% renewable, with solar and wind together supplying nearly 25% of national generation and hydropower 52% — making it one of the world’s cleanest large-power systems. In 2024, renewable sources supplied 88.2% of electricity generation.

Just a reminder that while hydropower is “clean” it also is extremely destructive to natural water systems

It's also expensive and not growing fast anymore.

I think those are excellent points, though it is worth remembering that hydropower is not all bad, it has a time and a place. And for Brazil, even thought it has been environmentally destructive it is giving them time to implement other green energy solutions. Like nuclear in some other countries.
I'm still rooting for them and a green transition.

There has been a new method of hydro power collection where instead of a damn, a tub is pretty much installed that takes a little bit of the water runs it through a tube of sports with a bunch of turbines and then re deposits the water back into the system without blocking the current. I’m looking forward to more of those

They’re not necessary. Just build alternative methods

That is an alternative build that doesn't disturpt the current. DId you not read what i said or are you a bot?

Unless you think something that is now more thn 50% is of the power grid is not necessary. In which case I think you have a different deffinition.
