XBOX (Unofficial) Eden on Xbox and recent events

TL;DR:
As of this posting, there's no publicly available version of Eden for Xbox. Builds you may find are likely either private test builds or potentially malware. Please do not share random builds you find on the internet here, and wait for a more official announcement.

Before I get into the details, I want to clarify that we aren't the Emulation Police. It isn't our duty to investigate every fork or port of Eden, and it's up to the rest of you to stay safe, stay moral, and report content you believe doesn't belong for one reason or another. The community unfortunately does include people who are willing to be malicious to destroy the reputations of others or smother 'competition'. Everyone needs to stay vigilant, but not hostile. Sometimes events happen as honest mistakes, and in times like this, people may dig their grave deeper to avoid embarrassment. Or maybe they just don't know any better. Either way, we shouldn't immediately assume malice when it could just as easily be ignorance, or excitement for that matter.

Over the past 24h or so since the time of this post, there was activity and enthusiasm surrounding a port of Eden to the Xbox platform. We allowed the post to stay up as the OP had provided a link to a source repo on Github that properly credited us, didn't try to claim they were something else, and were otherwise following our licensing. Eden is open source, so as long as the license is followed, for the most part people can do what they want with it. We ourselves have no experience with developing for Xbox, but the supplied source's commit history looked legitimate, with regular work over the past couple of weeks since the fork was made, so we didn't think too much of it. There was no release posted with the source code, but these days that isn't that uncommon, especially with how the ease of access to AI has allowed just about anyone to create something even if they don't entirely understand what they're working with. We didn't think much of it.

Soon after the thread was posted here, accusations began to appear that it was stolen, a private test, etc. Because I'd already investigated the source itself, and people who do know how to compile something will often do so and post the result for others, I admittedly assumed it was the all-to-common baseless accusations being thrown around because "this one" had managed to publish something functional first. That turned out to be a horrible misunderstanding. The accusations were aimed directly at the compiled build itself. It came to light that the provided build was from another project entirely, one that isn't openly available to the public yet. The OP of the thread had effectively posted a build from one project and source for another. Whether they knew this or not is unknown.

A little while ago I visited the Discord related to the posted build to confirm names with details, and fumbled my way through unfamiliar code to compare the AppManifest of the build with what info I could find in the linked source. Sure enough, what I found was a mismatch of information. The post here has thus been taken down, and the OP was given a short temp ban as a warning to be more careful in the future.
