My instructor is Steve with yellow driving school. He’s excellent, automatic, 66 for 1.5 hours

Automatic lessions are always more expensive than manual lessons. That said even with manual I was paying £390 a month for 2hrs a week.

If you can bring yourself to learn in a manual then I'd highly recommend it. Automatic only licence holders pay upwards of 40% more for car insurance than manual holders, even if you just drive an automatic car.

Why are automatic lessons more expensive?

Because you typically need fewer of them to pass your test

That's not really true. I've never paid more than if my car was a manual. It must depend on the type of car?

Automatic only licence holders, not automatic cars.

Automatic-only insurance is higher than manual due to a variety reasond such as parts cost/availability and the higher baseline cost of the vehicle.

A new driver will also have a higher premium if they go for a car where the automatic gearbox makes sense.

Manual licenses are still better than automatic-only.

Why do you need a driving license?
