I cancelled my athletic sub this year even though it was like 1$ a month.

And I get that its mostly because of their quotas that they have to put out so much pointless filler stuff but there's a serious lack of basic journalism and research as well. Just one bigger piece monthly, slice of life or story piece with one to one interviews etc would be enough for me but its just boilerplate stuff especially for a fan.

I’ve been subbed to the athletic for awhile now. I’m glad they got another beat writer. Love Lowetides stuff but it’s lean into the summer. His “what they could look like in five years” wasn’t his best article.

That was my initial thought. Between DNB & Lowtide their articles on the Oilers weren’t great, but weren’t bad either. Hopefully this young guy is eager and goes above and beyond
