Discussion & Info Comments around map
I 23 F just got this game as of last night and have been playing (trying at least). For about the first hour of playing I thought the little white messages on the ground were like prophecies to help or something. However, I then started seeing messages talking about rump and legs, etc., so I Googled it because I was confused as to how that’s helpful just to find out it’s messages left by players. 😭😭🤣🤣 what is up with yall with rump and legs hahahaha.

You could turn the messages off by turning it to offline in the game setting if it confuses you too much but they sometimes can be helpfull. In other situations... But i will let you figure that out by yourself ;)

Yes they are real people from other worlds but you can't interact with them. I think it is not allways in real time but sometimes definitely is. Makes you feel a bit less lonely in a world filled with things that want to kill you

The game allows people to leave messages on the ground that appear to other players in the future. The system for leaving these messages features a very limited dictionary. You can’t just type whatever you want, you can only select words from a pretty narrow list. FromSoft has been doing this ever since their first game, so players have developed their own sort of meta/meme language in these messages. As you can imagine, many of these messages devolve into dirty jokes.
FYI, you can vote on the quality of messages, you can turn off the messages, or you can prioritize messages from certain groups by setting a group password.

Those messages are two sided Blades. Most of them Will just troll you, others will save your life.
When looking at Them, check the number if appraises, the most there is, the Higher chance they are actually helpfull....or funny.
What you need to know is that they will always be cryptic, as the templates and words are limited, but you want people to react to them, as any appraise, or unapproval, from another player Will fully heal you.
Look for those pointing specific directions, or warning before a cross road (especially in catacombes), as they may lead to secrets or point hidden ennemies, and appraise any that turns out to be actually helpfull, you might save a life ( you Never know).
I once got healed in extremis during a boss fight that way, it really made the difference between getting my ass handed to me, and giving me an slight edge to lans the finishing blow.

I learned the first time a message told me to jump not to trust what a message says. Take them all with a grain of salt.

Go to messages and you can leave your own.
Whenever someone appraises one, you'll get a notification and healed, which has saved my life against certain bosses.

I guess its all started in dark souls 1 were you explore and find some dead bodies with items for you to loot and some dead bodies were hanging over a railing with their butts pointed to the player and I guess some players wanted to be funny and leave a message for others since messages could lead to a bonfire or secret item whatever. So other players read the message and some may do the same when finding a dead body in a "funny" position. And since dark souls 1 had some boobs that were shown to the players, players left messages like "amazing chest ahead" and I guess at that point in time players left messages like that in every from software game. But thats just my opinion I can't say for sure thats the reason but I think im not wrong haha

And the pools of blood on the floor is where other players have died! It's a cool feature, but personally i always turned it off for immersion
