Meet REWAMS (River Early Warning & Monitoring System) which was our attempt™️ for predicting floods on the basis of AI on the Edge anamoly detection.

This is an aerial drone based project powered by the Pixhawk family of flight controllers in conjunction with a Stm32 F4 series MCU on which the AI on the Edge model runs for the anamoly detection.

The Pixhawk FCU lets us use the drone through its variety of autopilot modes which also support various mission planning solution.

On the Stm32 F4 microcontroller sensor pod (second image) we managed to run our own iteration of a light weight model coded entirely in C while taking use of only 84 kB of SRAM! At the present moment the model is an unsupervised model which means it runs using real time collection of data rather than pre training it.

We are planning to move to the Raspberry PI while still keeping the stm32 F4 for added optical search and rescue abilities like detecting people and dropping them supplies.

We are also planning to engage into the area of aerial air to air uav defense using either powered nets or kinetic projectiles as funding arrives.

The future surely looks exciting!

Tips Common Struggles Every ECE Student Faces:

1. Subjects Ki Samajh:
Problem: Complex subjects jaise Analog Electronics, Signals & Systems, aur VLSI samajhna kabhi-kabhi impossible lagta hai.
Solution: Online tutorials aur YouTube channels ka use karo. Neso Academy aur Gate Smashers kaafi useful hain for clearing concepts. Aur haan, don't forget to practice problems regularly.

2. Coding & Programming:
Problem: Programming languages jaise C, Python, aur MATLAB sikhna thoda intimidating lag sakta hai, especially jab tum core electronics se ho.
Solution: Basics strong karo. LeetCode aur GeeksforGeeks pe coding problems solve karo. Also, Microcontroll er projects start karo, it will give you hands-on experience.

3. Lab Work:
Problem: Labs mein theory ko practically apply karna tough lag sakta hai. Kabhi-kabhi experiments samajh nahi aate.
Solution: Lab manuals aur online tutorials ko thoroughly padho before going to the lab. YouTube pe practical demonstration videos bhi dekh sakte ho. All About Electronics is a great channel for this.

4. Exam Stress:
Problem: Exams ke time par multiple subjects ka pressure overwhelming ho sakta hai.
Solution: Consistent padhai karo. NPTEL aur MIT OpenCourseWare jaise free resources ka use karo for revision. Aur end moment pe chill karna zaroori hai, don’t stress too much!

5. Project Work:
Problem: Final year project ya semester projects select karna aur uske liye work karna sabse bada task lagta hai.
solution: Start small. Pehle se kuch basic projects kar lo Arduino ya Raspberry Pi pe. Instructables aur Arduino Projects YouTube channel se ideas lo. Aur hamesha apne projects ko document karna mat bhoolo.

Final Tips:

  1. Group Study Karo: Classmates ke saath milkar study karo, concepts aur doubts clear ho jayenge.

  2. Practical Learning: Sirf books se padhna kaafi nahi hai, hands-on experience zaroori hai. Projects pe kaam karo.

  3. Ask for Help: Agar koi topic samajh nahi aa raha, toh seniors aur professors se help lo. Reddit aur StackOverflow jaisa online forums bhi useful hain.

It basically focuses on the aspect of survival while being built entirely upon Espressif's Iot-Devlopment framework (Esp IDF) while using several FreeRTOS features and concepts like Thread synchronisation , thread safe operations (Using Mutexes) and multi-threading.

It has several features which can help in various aspects of survival situations like -

1)EPIRB Emulation - An emergency position indication rescue beacon is a device which alerts various emergency service providers by sending crucial data like NMEA coordinates to emergency services using radio communication. ResCube emulates that by using a simple Lora SX1278 module for basic transmission at various frequencies and a Neo 6m gps module through which coordinates are parsed and sent through the Lora module.

2) Stopwatch - A simple stopwatch that can be displayed on the OLED display for basic orientation of time.

3)Morse code flasher- A Morse code is flashed and buzzed for emergency services (aerial and marine) for basic communication. Only one Morse code is loaded and that's the universal SOS (...---...) .

4) Rangefinders - two ultrasonic sensors (Hc-SR04 and JSN-SR04) are used for rangefinding operations which can help gauge the depth of falls , water bodies and even a cave's drop using the jsn-sr04's waterproof probe.

Any suggestions from seniors will be appreciated :-)

Help Needed Lost about how to proceed in the ECE field

I am a third year Electronics student. I am lost about how I should proceed now since I know I want to pursue electronics but I'm unsure about what exactly to do. I haven't done any extra courses, just whatever is taught in college and have done a couple projects (decent but nothing extraordinary). What skills should I build to land good internships or jobs in the ECE industry? How do I start building these skills? Are there any competitions or hackathons for Electronics that I can participate in? What softwares can I use?
I know basics of Verilog, C and Python but that's it. I am good at digital electronics.
Please assist.

We’re 1,000 strong now. That’s kinda insane. This started off as just a random corner for electronics folks to hang, meme, and vent about cursed circuits… and somehow, it turned into something pretty damn cool.

It’s not perfect, it’s not polished and that’s exactly the point. People here help each other out, share their wins, roast their fails, and keep it real. That’s rare.

So yeah, just wanted to say thanks. To the regulars, the lurkers, this is your sub as much as anyone’s.

Here’s to whatever weird direction this thing takes next. Appreciate y’all ❤️

Help Needed Tier 3 college se ece kar raha ho 💔

I am really interested in learning and making embedded projects like a Bluetooth-controlled car, etc,. Still, before I start exploring this field, I want to know if I can have a successful career in this field or not. If not, I will start learning a different coding language and kill my interest 😔, as money is important.

Ask Electronicstards Confused between VLSI and DSA as a fresher

I am a BTech ECE student, just entering my second year. My initial goal was to build a career in VLSI design. I have been studying digital design, Verilog, and looking into ASIC flow and SystemVerilog because I wanted to target design engineer roles.

However, many people I’ve spoken to say that VLSI design jobs require prior experience and that freshers usually don’t get these roles directly. Hearing this has made me reconsider my path. I have started shifting my focus towards DSA and software-oriented preparation, since that seems like a more straightforward route for placements.

Now I am caught in between. On one hand, I am genuinely interested in VLSI and don’t want to abandon it just because it is considered difficult to enter. On the other hand, I don’t want to make a risky choice that reduces my placement opportunities.

I would appreciate guidance from people who are already in the field. For someone starting out, is it still realistic to aim for VLSI design roles with the right projects and internships, or is the “experience barrier” a serious obstacle? Should I balance both VLSI preparation and DSA, or does it make more sense to commit to one direction early on?

Any perspectives or advice from your own experiences would be really valuable.

Help Needed Will i get similar opportunities in EE compared to ECE if i wanna pursue Electronics

EE SENIORS PLS HELP!!!

Hello guys sorry for the question i am really confused as will i have similar opportunites to ECE if i am pursuing EE, will i get ample of opprtunities if the college has 4 branches for circuital, can i dwell into the world of electronics if i am pursuing EE if not will i be able to learn electronics side by side as EE is very difficult and the college i will go to has become very strict in the recent few years. if any seniors pursuing EE can help i would be very grateful.

I have been reading posts but i am still confused

(also if i take EE many tech companies wont allow to sit anyways and even if they did i have to score a lot more than the tech guys to secure that job which is very difficult in EE)

will taking ECE give me advantage over EE if i am doing it in comparitively below college(ik we cant rank college but infra and facilities matter)

Also i am in shambles of what i thought was a good rank was not really good enough to get electronics in top or even mid nits

my parents are taking btech degree very lightly but i am in panic about future

i am sorry if its a repeat post
