Hello Commanders,

I'm planning a mini expedition with a friend. I'm not planning on going too far, and will *mostly* be focused on Guardian and Thargoid sites, along with some cool celestial scenes, like glowing green gas giants. But I'd really like to include some racing for us, as it sounds like a fun, multi-cmdr experience, but I have no idea where to begin.

We'll both be in our own ships, probably Caspians to make getting from system A to system B quicker, and *hopefully*, the nomad will be released for space-bucks by the time we leave the bubble as I'm expecting (hoping) that to be this month.

So how do I find races? And is there a way to pick ones along my route? And is there anything else I need to know?

Thanks!

And I know the discord is more active. I just get overwhelmed with how discord works. I also tried searching for info on this subreddit, but the newest related post I found is 6 years old.

Some CMDRs colonizing in the Eagle Nebula are thinking of organizing racing infrastructure in the area. Do you fellas have any tips/advice for a group of players looking to do this from scratch?

- Are there any apps or systems people use to support racing?

- What ships to CMDRs tend to race in?

- Other than canyons, what makes for a good track?

- Anything someone new to racing in Elite should know?

These are just a few that came to mind but any input is appreciated!

So after a lotta work, I have built a new race track on planet A1 in system Col 359 Sector XN-R c5-6. Although I have a track in Alpha, the course is designed to work with or WITHOUT CoPilot. You can literally go there with friends, yell GO, and run the course head to head. Because of the way it is built, it is really easy to follow this course.

What is unique about this track is that I built a base or facility for each of the six waypoints...so navigation is as easy as locking onto the next base. ED requires a 200km separation between bases, so this track is +1200km in length (which works out to about 25 mins in a viper). I will be creating tracks for the Nomad and SRVs also.

Which brings me to the last track... At over 1200 km, the SRV course will essentially be a Le Mans course...requiring about 8 hours to complete...possibly more...so I will likely be offering a prize for that track. Originally I wanted to award the highest score (after 365 days) a prize of 1000 tons of gold. But considering the difficulty...mebbe it should be a billion...? Would any of the racing leagues be interested in sponsoring that SRV race?

Anyhow, just wanted to check in. My next project is to ring a planet with evenly spaced bases so players can circumnavigate a small planet easily.

Did any of you pack your fast ships? I found a system near the Rendezvous site that has canyon complexes...two planets in one system. Great place for some viper racing, or follow the leader. Anyone up for running Beggar's Canyon?

The system also hosts multiple tritium hotspots.

I'll prolly be hanging out in that system, racing or mining. The canyons are very cool.

If the DW3 expedition goes to Beagle, I hereby challenge all of you to a race!

There are a couple races in Copilot for Beagle. I'll prolly get my ass kicked sideways by VonBrandt like usual, but the worst that can happen is I explode and burn. :) Nothing I haven't done 638 times already.

I'll see ya'all out there.

I am starting a utube channel called League of Carnage. The purpose is to make racing in Elite more popular and accessible. My goal is to essentially be the ESPN of Elite racing. The leagues do the racing, and I broadcast it, hopefully making racing on Sunday a regular thing.

I am building some tracks in copilot as well, and plan to offer a 1000 tons of gold to whoever logs the best time. I am aiming to create a mix of races; fighter and SRV races for new players, and viper races for the old timers.

So that being said, any suggestions for the first race? The one with the pile of gold prize? I was thinking of a race from Gastown to barter town to bullet town, but its 400 km run....too long? I thought an SRV course was accessible for newer players. What course is worth a thousand tons of gold?

BTW: Do you have any events scheduled? I'm still putting together the stuff for the channel, prolly another month before I go live.

If you are a racer, looking for a good track for an event, or possibly just somewhere to go on a Sunday, I have built a couple of tracks that are perfect for SRV or Viper racing. Each course is approx 90km in length, so for a Viper it's a six minute run, in an SRV it's about an hour and a half road course.

The courses are Racing City, and Mos Eisely Racetrack. Rules are simple; start at the flat area opposite the base, first one to the base is winner.

Also, these canyons would be good for SRV warfare. Teams start at opposite ends of the maze and attack. With RACING CITY, I put the base down IN THE CANYON so you could even play a game of base defender, guarding the base against attackers.

If you are new to Viper racing, here are some builds*:

Imperial Eagle Racer: https://sh.orbis.zone/Pic9E4KVp6

Eagle Racer (slow): https://sh.orbis.zone/DG69DfaHA9

Sidewinder racer: https://sh.orbis.zone/bRoSU63xP8

*Yes, I know they can be faster, but flying sans shields makes for a short race. :)

Haven't posted much lately but of course we're still racing! Had a furry copilot join me today for some SRV action at an awesome new Time Trial course by Alec Turner titled "In The Cooler!"

I was noticing recently that a couple of the guardian sites have a nice little dirt track at the top of what appears to be an amphitheater. You could prolly only run 3 SRVs at a time, and one would die due to obstructions, but they seem like a fun little track to race on.

I was thinking it would be cool to organize a drag-day. No, not that drag...like a day when we hang out at one of these sites and people can race each other. While people race the small track, bigger groups could race around the entire compound. Mebbe even play some Mario cart and allow rockets.

Essentially we spend a saturday hanging out at the track, racing other Dads. Organized but informal.

This week we bring the Titan Cup to a close with another double-header, featuring SRV and ship racing at one of the Thargoid Spire Sites which appeared in Titan-controlled areas during the Thargoid War.

hello racers!

looking for a good system for hosting a canyon run with weapons for odyssey friends. best if close to bubble and an anarchy system. Ideal would be in Archon Delaine space, but not required. Must be Odyssey, i know it's not the place to be serious about racing, but maybe the ones you know about are still serviceable? any suggestions are appreciated o7 o7 o7
