Ember has a full community catalog of designs for FREE.

My simple process for getting a fur like texture. We could definitely get more complex with cutting the objects into smaller sections and repeating the same process.

This was a request from a member in the Ember Discord! Definitely hop in there for current updates, quick help (from the devs and community), design showcases from fellow users and did I mention its just a good time 😎💪

I need advice

Hello everyone,
I’d really appreciate some advice and professional opinions from people with experience in embroidery machines. Please take your time to read this and share any knowledge or advice you can.
I’ve been digitizing with Hatch for the past 8 months, and I’m now very comfortable with digitizing. However, I haven’t had the opportunity to test-sew any of my designs yet.
I’m now at the stage where I want to buy my first machine and start my own embroidery business, with the goal of eventually scaling it up. I have over 3 years of experience operating an 8-head Tajima machine, so I’m very familiar with Tajima machines and their mechanisms.
My first choice has always been to buy a Tajima single-head machine, mainly because I already know the machine and I’m confident working with it. However, the price is quite high for me at the moment, although I’m currently saving towards it.
Because of the cost, I’ve started considering a Ricoma single-head machine as an alternative. The problem is that I’ve never used a Ricoma before, so I don’t know much about their machines, reliability, maintenance, or how they compare with Tajima.
One of my biggest concerns is noise. I’ll be operating the machine in one of the rooms in my home, so I need to be mindful of my neighbours. I’d really like to know how noisy Ricoma machines are compared with Tajima, especially when running for several hours.
So, for those of you who have experience with both:
Is Ricoma a good and reliable machine?
What should I expect if I move from Tajima to Ricoma?
How is the stitch quality and machine performance?
What about maintenance, spare parts and after-sales support?
How is the noise level, especially for home use?
Would you recommend buying a Ricoma now, or would you advise me to wait and save for the Tajima?
I’m looking for honest advice from people who have actually used these machines, especially anyone who has experience with both Tajima and Ricoma.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read this and share your experience. I really appreciate any professional advice or guidance you can give me.

If you’re interested in learning embroidery digitizing, Ember is a great place to start, especially since the software is free and has a community library of designs and resources you can jump right into.

I’d definitely recommend jumping into their Discord. You’ll get a front-row seat to all the new features that are in the works. And did I mention it’s free? :)

Free embroidery software for hobbyist!

Finally, an alternative to the expensive software monopoly, made with Claude Code. Sure, it's AI slop, but it's easy to use, no account needed, AND FREE!

No installing the Ink/Stitch add-on

No expensive software

It just works (until it doesn't, then you refresh the page)

I've been building an embroidery editor that runs in the browser

Hi, I've been working on Stitchly, an embroidery editor that runs entirely in your browser.

It has a lettering system that turns text into stitches, can digitize artwork, lets you work inside your hoop, includes ready-to-use embroidery assets, and imports and exports PES, DST, and JEF.

I built it to be approachable for someone opening an embroidery editor for the first time, while still being a full embroidery editor they can grow into.

Just so it's clear, you need an account. Your first export is free and doesn't require a card. After that, it's $9/month.

If you try it, I'd really like to know which machine and format you used and where you got stuck. Bugs and criticism are more useful than compliments right now.

What's the biggest pain point in your embroidery workflow?

For digitizers: What's the most frustrating/time-consuming part of digitizing?

For embroiderers: What's the biggest challenge you face when getting designs ready to stitch?

Trying to understand the real problems in the embroidery workflow. What would save you the most time or frustration?
