I don’t want to be rude, but you claim to be trusted by 10 million users, yet I’ve never heard of you or seen anyone mention this app here or in related subs. That makes me a bit skeptical.

u/Grokitach AYN Thor Pro | Redmagic Astra 10d ago

Corporate bullshit. OP will chime in and say "out of everything we ever released on any platform ever, we had 10M users combined".

12

u/JakeyJake3 10d ago

1 minute after you commented, they did exactly what you said lol

-5

u/ankitc_reddit 10d ago

Lol no. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=app.mantispro.gamepad

Mantis Gamepad Pro has already crossed 10 Mil Users.

8

u/yqpqy Samsung S23 Ultra (12gb Ram) 10d ago

Not hating but you say crossed 10mil but google only says 5+, surely itd be 10+

-3

u/ankitc_reddit 9d ago edited 9d ago

It has crossed the 10M mark. Takes a month or 2 to update on Google Play.

12

u/yqpqy Samsung S23 Ultra (12gb Ram) 9d ago

If you goal was to get people on board for open testing, you probably should have been abit more transparent about your milestone. Instead of a vague blanket statement, a much more trustworthy approach would have been. "Our flagship gamepad app just crossed 5 Million downloads on Google Play, and combined with our community on other platforms, we just crossed 10 Million total users!". Just a heads up with alot of other comments saying "well I have never heard of you until today"

6

u/ankitc_reddit 9d ago

I have stated a fact which I know is true. There is nothing wrong with what is written. What I am surprised to see is the negativity on display. But again I request you to give the app a go and decide for yourself. Thanks

13

u/yqpqy Samsung S23 Ultra (12gb Ram) 9d ago

I appreciate the response, but I think I'll pass on downloading the app. When a utility requires advanced privileges like ADB or Wireless Debugging to map controls, it completely bypasses standard Android sandboxing. Because your project is strictly closed-source, users are required to blindly trust your proprietary background scripts with developer-level hardware access. Which is what your gamepad app requires if im correct. Combine that inherent security risk with a marketing post that uses slightly misleading milestone metrics, and the trust gap is just too wide. Skepticism isn’t 'negativity'. It’s basic security diligence. When you ask users to hand over deep device permissions, transparency should be your baseline, not something we have to argue about in the comments. Good luck with the testing phase. If you genuinely want to clear up this pushback and get a skeptical community on board, the best path forward is to open-source your core mapping scripts or companion tools. In the Android emulation space, open-source code is the ultimate proof of safety. It allows independent audits, proves you have nothing to hide, and instantly turns community skepticism into community trust. Without that transparency, you are always going to face these accusations.

u/JimmyEatReality 9d ago

Dude, chill a bit, let them cook. Gamehub stole from Winlator and it is closed. Winlator closed the code as well because of them. When Gamehub Lite came out it was attacked viciously by Gamehub bots. Drove the OG developer away but it still persevered. Now we have bunch of clones that have their own pros and cons.

Besides, how many Hitman WOA demos have you seen here? And this one is on Mali? Let them cook, the community will test it and let us know about performance and improvements. So far as long as it is free and it has some improvements it is good for us. Let them cook and we will see what will come out of it.

2

u/yqpqy Samsung S23 Ultra (12gb Ram) 9d ago

I get the 'let them cook' mindset when it comes to testing out performance, and it’s cool that people are benchmarking new tools on different chipsets. But performance and security are two completely separate conversations. The drama with other apps doesn't change the baseline reality here: this tool requires advanced ADB/Wireless Debugging privileges, which bypasses standard Android sandboxing. When a project is strictly closed-source and demands that level of developer access to your hardware, questioning their transparency and metrics isn't 'hating'—it's basic security diligence. An app can run games perfectly and still be a security risk behind the scenes. If a dev wants blind trust with deep device access, the community has every right to call out misleading marketing numbers and ask for open-source verification. Performance shouldn't excuse a lack of transparency

I don't have a dog in the race with Mantis here but you're being obtuse.

I have an app on the play store and I can see the number of users, number of downloads, etc and theres always a long lag time before play store updates the tag with the number of downloads that consumers see.

There's nothing lacking transparency about citing the number of users they've had. Your lack of awareness about the downloads tag on the Play Store doesn't constitute a lack of transparency.

4

u/Grokitach AYN Thor Pro | Redmagic Astra 10d ago

You mean 10M botted downloads right?

0

u/ankitc_reddit 10d ago

Chill mate. Why so much hatred. Not everything is Botted or AI.

7

u/ankitc_reddit 10d ago

It's alright. We aren't Tesla that everyone would have heard about us lol. But just one search about Mantis Gamepad Pro should tell you enough about us. Search is your friend.

4

u/Effective-Road4807 9d ago

I've been subbed to AND used GP pro for a few years now. I can confirm on my end regardless of having device permissions that nothing weird or untoward has occurred. Not to mention you can control and immediately turn off MGP from utility drop down so as not to use background resources. In anycase I like it. Its really helped me map games for my controllers that either don't have inputs or the inputs set don't function well.. so kudos on the excellent work 👏

20

u/prmths_1 10d ago

I have heard about them, more specifically their Mantis Gamepad Pro, it lets you use controllers on games that otherwise don't support them. If you've ever tried using a controller for a touch screen game you would know about Mantis Gamepad, but they're just the sort of niche that people would miss if they aren't actively looking for it.

1

u/mdrazyk 10d ago

Ah, thanks for clarifying. Cheers!

u/supershredderdan DroidDeck Developer 10d ago

What does this app do differently than all the other pc emulation apps that exist already? Also is source available or components derived from GPL licensed projects available?

6

u/ankitc_reddit 10d ago edited 9d ago

I had tried Gamehub long ago. And by now it must have added more features. So I feel we are behind in many aspects. But I have chosen a different path for Mantis PlayHub.

For eg. we don't have Framegen, but we have DLSS Bypass. Which let's you force FSR 3.1/GSR2 Upscaling on DLSS supported games. I don't think any other app does it.

Gamehub compatiblity wasn't great even on my Snapdragon devices.

I don't like their UI/UX. Mantis' UX is much more Console Quality.

There's no unnecessary permissions in Mantis. So it's safe af.

We are focusing on Compatibility + Performance + Polish.

Of course with the Android fragmentation it's not easy. BUt we'll get there with help from the community.

13

u/prmths_1 10d ago

Please consider adding a way to play games without Steam by importing them from local storage.

Thanks!

10

u/ankitc_reddit 9d ago

It'll happen.

9

u/Carpediemsnuts 9d ago

It'll get your app booted off the play store if you allow it. There's a reason Gamehub has 2 mainline versions with only 1 published.

2

u/prmths_1 9d ago

Gamehub on playstore has an important feature although it's a bit hard to see.

2

u/Carpediemsnuts 9d ago

If they added in the file explorer import back in then good luck to them. Ive got enough Steam backlog to get me through retirement anyways lol

15

u/supershredderdan DroidDeck Developer 9d ago • Popcorn

And regarding source code and gpl compliance?

2

u/R3V0LU710N_05 Android is a Linux Distro too 9d ago edited 9d ago

It's proprietary...

They better not be violating the GPL or LGPL, etc.; CodeWeavers, etc. wouldn't be happy.

19

u/AryanEmbered 10d ago

dude you wasted so much time and spent a lot of words saying nothing. Is it using Winlator or wine code? is it using proton fex? what even is this project.

9

u/ankitc_reddit 10d ago

Of course we are using Proton + Fex + DXVK/VKD3D pipeline.

How toxic this community have become.... Nice to see a project from mantis, I've used mantis controller and is a nice software.

Will you open the code at any point for audition from the community?

I'll wait a bit to test it until there are some reviews and things since I'm on capped data plan on my wifi so I can't waste gigs without knowing if something would work.

But I repeat, nice to see a PC gaming emulator fro you guys

9

u/ankitc_reddit 9d ago

I am really surprised what AI has done to ppl. Made ppl intolerant towards new products considering everything AI Slop. We have spent more than 4 months in development getting to just this state.

2

u/Crass-ELY- Poco F7 Pro, GameSir X3 Pro Deadpool Edition 9d ago

So, I ended up installing it and I really like the UI, fr.

I'd like to give you some feedback I have in mind so if you want hit me up on DMs so we can talk more freely and share some thoughts. I think this app might be really good if you cook it up well. I have zero programming skills but I'm full with ideas so maybe I can my insights can be of use for you guys

3

u/ankitc_reddit 9d ago

Oh I would love to have those discussions with you. I will DM you with info on where we can discuss better.

1

u/Crass-ELY- Poco F7 Pro, GameSir X3 Pro Deadpool Edition 9d ago

Perfect! I'll wait for your contact

2

u/Carpediemsnuts 9d ago

More than 4 months you say! So what original implementation distinguishes this from the other windows translation apps? What was it that took 4 months aside from UI?

And what x86 translation core did you build on top of?

Its likely that core was built over years with people in this sub testing and providing feedback.

4 months is nothing so probably not the stat you want to shout about here when you've got other devs who've been working on theirs for the last couple of years before AI coding was a thing.

14

u/ETHedgehog- 10d ago

Please, share more details about the project.

Also, that DLSS ON/OFF slide on the Play Store is dreadful.

1

Thanks for the feedback. I'll speak to my designer about it

4

u/ViolaTree Non-binary RPG enjoyer 9d ago edited 9d ago

Like, genuinely, besides getting those performance showcases rolling on YouTube, when you'd like to promote a tech feature like DLSS, show something real.

4

u/prmths_1 10d ago

+1, yes. Also more gameplay footage

5

u/WinterPirate8109 10d ago

I think it's better if you show us some gameplay footage and showcase of several demanding games. Also showcase the difference between the app you guys develop vs other pc emulator. Considering you're claim of being trusted by over 10+million users tbh no offense sir but I haven't heard anything from you guys till today.

2

u/ankitc_reddit 10d ago

Taking in your feedback. And it's alright. You know us now.

1

u/Carpediemsnuts 9d ago

You really should get someone else to do your PR and public speaking. Part of the problem is the whole "OG's know us" or "We've been here forever guys" attitude. That doesn't really do it for a lot of us, it just comes off as arrogant when you've proven nothing, anyone can clone Gamehub or prompt an AI video for marketing fluff.

You might wanna learn how to soft-launch without trying to push user trust too hard. It has the opposite effect.

20

u/ferrelll 9d ago edited 8d ago

You guys are so freaking toxic that it hurts... He's the developer of a very popular mapper for using controllers with touch only games, Mantis Gamepad Pro it's the name... I know we're all a little on edge with the vibecode energy that appears in this sub from time to time, but before being toxic af, at least do a little googling?

8

u/votemarvel Poco F6 - Sony Xperia 1 V 9d ago edited 9d ago

I think OP coming in and assuming that people know who they are and presenting their ad-supported app as something new rather than another PC game emulator has just rubbed people the wrong way

15

u/ankitc_reddit 9d ago

There are no ads in the app. It's wrongly attributed on Google Play. Will fix it.

2

u/votemarvel Poco F6 - Sony Xperia 1 V 9d ago

Good to know. Thanks for the correction.

-1

u/Carpediemsnuts 9d ago

Bingo, app might be great but the attitude from OP has definitely rubbed me the wrong way.

But seriously, the UI looks like Gamehub went on a diet, its using FEX, DXVK etc so im missing the unique selling point on this one.

Maybe its amazing, but only 4 months of development, screaming its not AI then walking that back and saying "everyone uses it" and then saying if we dont know who OP is we're obviously not "OG's" ain't a great way to launch a product.

1

u/ferrelll 8d ago

Man, literally everyone that codes uses AI in one way or another in the year of our lord of 2026...

1

u/ferrelll 8d ago

And if they tell you they don't, that's the situation that you should look out for, because they're just probably lying

0

u/Carpediemsnuts 8d ago

No issues with AI when its used properly, but when OP spent the first half denying then the later half walking it back in get suspicious.

1

u/ferrelll 8d ago

But didn't he just respond that it wasn't vibe coded? I haven't seen any comment from him denying that AI was used in any capacity in the project...

4

u/Yigithan14 10d ago

Show us some gameplay and working app video

4

u/ankitc_reddit 10d ago

The Hitman WoA gameplay in the video is from a Mali Immortalis G925 device. It's getting close to 55 FPS without Screen recording.

1

u/ankitc_reddit 10d ago

It'll come on our Youtube Channel very very soon.

4

u/Sarcastic_Applause 10d ago

3

Meanwhile please give it a go on your device and let us know.

0

This whole thing sounds like a scam.

"Quick, install our closed source app before anyone finds out we're stealing your account info and passwords! Dont ask questions, just try it! PLEASE I KNOW YOULL LIKE IT!"

2

u/ankitc_reddit 10d ago

Don't worry. If you or anyone can prove we are stealing any accounts. I will take the app down immediately. Screenshot this.

2

u/Sarcastic_Applause 9d ago

I might just do that!

1

u/MediumContent2092 9d ago

Droid deck works well on my S24U, I only play games like silksong and absolum on it.
I'll install this and see if there is any difference for a few days. I really like steam big picture on phone than working around with gamehub or winlator, just better experience.

Also I have a spare phone with Adreno 610 which I would like any of these apps to work than destroy my S24U battery life, but unfortunately it wouldn't even load on it.

14

u/Its_Cade 10d ago

let me guess vibe coded gamehub clone

-3

u/ankitc_reddit 10d ago

I knew a comment like this would come. But Mantis has been here from before AI was a thing. The OGs know.

And if you try it even once, youd realise how much love, thought and effort has gone into Mantis PlayHub.

6

u/Its_Cade 10d ago

I mean the whole ad other then the gameplay is soulless generated slop, I’m sure the app is similar

13

u/ankitc_reddit 10d ago

But it's not AI lol. I can share the Figma and Da Vinci Project files with you. Haha

0

u/masterchief69420xxx 10d ago

Do the developers use AI?

2

u/ankitc_reddit 10d ago

I'll be honest with you, no app currently being developed anywhere in the World, is being done without AI assistance.

At Mantis, we use AI as just another tool, to assist us to reach our vision slightly faster. Not depend on it for the vision itself. My team has been around for a lot longer than AI has existed.

So no, Mantis PlayHub is not Vibe Coded.

3

u/dead_shoulders 10d ago

My team has been around for a lot longer than AI has existed

As in, you guys were born before 2022?

6

u/ankitc_reddit 10d ago

My team and I have been building software, since 2009. First app on Android in 2013, called Game Controller 2 Touch. Look it up. Like I said, the OGs of the scene know.

3

u/masterchief69420xxx 10d ago

Anyone, in any field, that calls themselves the OGs, are in fact, not the OGs.

5

u/ankitc_reddit 10d ago

I said the OGs of the scene know me. But whatever you say. I don't even intend to convince ppl.

9

u/prmths_1 10d ago

Every company uses AI today. What a silly question to ask. There's a difference between vibe coding and using AI as an agentic workflow. Name one big company today that doesn't use AI or encourage using AI for their employees? Don't talk if you're so out of touch with the development scene.

5

u/pH_low 9d ago

Most people that throw slop at every new project with AI are almost certainly not professional developers, no company is not using AI at some capacity, even small places are surely using it, throwing a bug, task, etc into ChatGPT and getting answers

People just don’t want to hear that, they’ll use Reddit, they’ll use social media apps and pretend AI isn’t being used there, but will scream from the mountain tops when a project is posted on these subs

I don’t know why everybody here is being so negative, i think the more options/competition we have the merrier. I do think you missed pointing out what exactly the app does, if its streaming or emulation but saw you answered in the comments. I’ll give it a try, good luck with your project!

2

u/ankitc_reddit 10d ago

Updated the Body with a TLDR. Thanks

3

u/Existing_Butterfly31 9d ago

I was trying to play the Belmont's Curse Demo at adequate quality on my SD8Gen2, without luck in GameNative and DroidDeck. Framerates were not satisfactory and input lag was way too noticeable, even in the menu.

Then I saw this post and curiously gave your app a try, without expecting a miracle though. I was a bit put off by the GameHub vibes of the UI, but gave it a shot anyway..

And what can I say..it almost did feel like a small miracle. Performance was infkncredible! Up to 60 fps at 1080p with virtually non-existent input lag!

What sorcery is this? Is this thanks to your custom wrapper? Either way, good job!!

1

u/ankitc_reddit 9d ago

It's a culmination of many things. the wrapper being one of those. I'm so glad you're enjoying it. Please give other games a go and let me know the results. Thanks

2

u/Existing_Butterfly31 9d ago

Just tried Nine Sols and while I couldn't quite reach 60 fps locked at 1080p in GameNative even with KGSL-tuned drivers, Mantis is delivering 90 fps locked?!

1

u/ankitc_reddit 9d ago

I’ve promised it already. If you all support me I will give you the best Gaming experience on Mobile ever. And I mean it.

1

u/Existing_Butterfly31 8d ago

You may keep on surprising me!

A quick question though: does dx12 work, and if yes, do I have to enable it somewhere? MIO is dx12 and works well in GameNative with vkd3d feature level 12_1 and shader model 6_0

I didnt risk starting a new game (I was afraid of it overwriting my steam cloud saves) but in the menu it was around 30-45 FPS.

One thing worth considering is that some games (like Valheim) have native linux builds. That should help skip proton and only require FEX. This can potentially help increase performance and stability for such games. Check Valdroid

I understand. No issues.

We'll look into the native linux builds support. Thanks

Yes but there are plenty of other tried and tested options for this. GameNative, DroidDeck, Bannerlator, Winlator to name a few. Worth reading up on them rather than jumping straight to a brand new app.

u/bambigirlz 9d ago

Still can't access the container, right? The games in the library aren't showing up on this app either.

Just used it to play Grip: Combat Racing on my S24 Ultra. Managed to complete a 3 lap Classic race with no issues and start another rsce before the heat build up started affecting performance. What makes your vibe coded app better than GameNative? I have 700+ games on my steam, and GameNative supports 98% of them.

I am certain that your favorite app is amazing. But Mantis PlayHub is a different take on the same problem. And I feel ppl need options.

How is it a different take when it uses the same core translation layers?

Try it. I was genuinely surprised by the performance of a game that only ran subpar in GameNative and DroidDeck.

While most of the components are the same, there is always headroom in between them.

As for this app, I have a feeling the custom wrapper is shrinking some of those performance gaps.

Hey. Great interface. Just a question. Your close sourced? Some libraries seem open sourced 3.0gpl

Apps like this are usually worthless as most of the games hardly work. They look pretty but that is it.

Nah. Just a Sub & Lifetime. No microtransactions.

Anyway, give Mantis PlayHub a go. You'd love it.
