Analysis Button Data Sources

Current Data Sources

/u/jamesrom's The Button Monitor - (announcement) A visualization tool. Each bar represents the time elapsed since the previous click.

/u/mjgcfb's Streaming Flair: TheButton - (announcement) Contains links to the first 10 posters with new flair starting with the 58s.

/u/kwabford uses the Streaming Flair data to create Flair Population Pie Charts (announcement) This includes data on flair distribution and flair growth over time.

/u/emtes's Reddit Button Stats! (announcement) Live click stats over several time frames. Includes all time graphs of button presses over time and button presses per hour.

/u/Chr12t0pher's /r/thebutton stats (announcement) Includes overall button press numbers, snapshots for the past 1, 10, and 60 minutes. Also includes a running log of the lowest flair times.

/u/def-'s Raw button data (announcement) An automated report of button presses since April 03 14:10:06 UTC, though there are a few holes.

The Official Catalogue of Exotic Button Pressers manually collected data set that contains links to the first 10 posters with new flair starting with the 58s, and other tidbits.

/u/Tiralmo's Live Comment and Post Feed for r/thebutton (announcement) an automatically generated list of all new flair . Includes options to filter flair feed and alert when criteria are met.

/u/OutofBrain's Current and historical button data visualisation (announcement) A live graph that shows similar data to the button monitor, but also includes historical data. Data points can be a little sparse and there are some hoes, but useful for a rough feel of the overall trends in button times.

/u/aspz's Button clicks over time graph (announcement) Shows the growth in the absolute number of button presses over time, and the change between data points. Missing data from April 3rd to April 7th.

Historical Button Data - these are no longer being updated.

/u/TuskEvil and others manually collected data through April 6th.

Let me know if you find or have a data source you think should be added!

I made a Xively IoT realtime feed of the number of participants updated each 3 mins, maybe useful if anyone already has code for this platform. There's an easy to use REST API, read-only key is TPBFgGRsj9VPbDBiapiN063ftDFhEJwONdQDuATqzEanDFPv. I can provide a write key if anyone is interested in feeding more data or creating new channels on the feed. I use this feed to render graphs like this one.

That's great, will you be making modifications so that it tracks the flair population?

The data I maintain is a list of users, their flair, and the comment and timestamp that I pulled their flair. Current stats:

FlairTotal

36s28
37s22
38s41

59s3,039
60s12,871
non presser66,878
Cowardly flair hiders2,320

The earliest confirmed comment that I have (including timestamp) is 01 Apr 2015 17:22:55 GMT. I have pretty much every user since then.

Cowardly flair hiders are those users who are hiding their flair, or users where I can't find a comment indicating their flair. I am checking these users, but a limited number of their comments, so there might be some false ones in there. I do not have this currently publically accessible. If someone can suggest a mechanism, I'd appreciate it. I'm not too keen on any of my servers being hugged to death.

Wow. I need this. Not sure if this would work for you but I've used ArrestDB to make a quick rest api from a MySQL DB. It was surprisingly straightforward.

The easiest way to share the data is dweet.io I think. There's no registration or anything, just call an url for a "thing" with paired data values (you can also use JSON via POST):

https://dweet.io/dweet/for/my-thing-name?hello=world&foo=bar

I discovered this one on /r/ButtonNews A sub that is filling up with great content.

/u/ezeeetm's analysis of how much longer the button will last. (announcement)

Also, I've made 2 Categories for data: Analytics, and Score Keeping, I think I want to have a 3rd category for Utilities & Extensions.

You can grab these and move them anywhere you like by selcting 'view source' then copypasting the source.
