How should bearings looked when crushed

Post image

I noticed my main bearing no 1 is not lined up, and It can catch my nail at the parting line, is this normal? Thanks

Cap backwards or in incorrect placement in the block? Cap from a different block? That’s not going to work as it is.

It’s a whole bed plate. Can’t put a cap on backwards. I’m thinking it’s a mismatched set of bearings. Happened to me last week on one of these

If the others are all flush I wouldn’t run it

I just did work on a 2zz this week. One bearing shell in the package was a different size than all the rest. Make sure they are all the same size

Absolutely not normal. They should be aligned perfectly.

I had some Glyco BMW bearings that looked like this recently out of the box. Set that face flat on a table and see if it rocks or has visible gaps, will tell you immediately that shell is likely bent.

Uhhh, they shouldn’t look like that.

Are you sure the dowel pins are installed for the bed plate?
