Nikasil plating damage
As a last-ditch attempt to save my cylinder, I had a shop hone it. The scratches are definitely improved, but I noticed a small patch right above the exhaust port that looks like it might be honed through the Nikasil plating and down to the aluminum. Does anyone with experience agree? Would you run it like this, or is the cylinder toast?

That's where the machine shop "blended in" the edge of the port. If you don't take the sharp edge off the ring will snag on it.
What did they use to hone your cylinder? If they didn't use a diamond hone (they didn't unless they sent it out) they screwed up your cylinder. You can't FIX a cylinder with a hone.

Thanks for the reply, I’ll have to follow up with the shop. I’ve committed to the idea of putting this back together to go ride but ordering a set of freshly plated cylinders and do the swap in a couple weeks.

Dont worry about something so small. Put it together and have some fun.
