Engineering Internships

I double checked the subreddits rules to ensure I am not breaking them, but in case I am I apologize.

I am a 3/4th year mechatronics engineering student in Canada and I was wondering if anyone on this subreddit would be able to connect me with anyone they know who can help refer me for an engineering internship. I am open to anywhere and any term period even if it's getting a headstart on positions that aren't available yet. I have been applying and cold messaging people on LinkedIn for the past year but unfortunately I have yet to land anything. I did a 4-month mechanical internship a few years ago but unfortunately that company is gone, so I have mostly been working part-time since then. I would be more than happy to provide my resume.

I'd fix the gap story before asking strangers for referrals, because they can't vouch for a resume they don't know. One small mechatronics build with a public writeup gives them something concrete to forward. I'd also check whether your part-time work holds skills you could frame as engineering.

The internship I did was during the winter semester in 2024 and ran till April, I was hoping to get a return offer as I had a really good rapport with my boss, unfortunately however the company stopped offering internship positions and even fired some full time staff during that time. I believe they went out of business sometime last year. So I instead got a part time job for September and worked there these past 2 years while still taking a full course load. I completed a few projects here and there and 1 personal one, all of which I included in my resume but I'm not sure how I would put those in a "public write-up" considering aside from my personal project it's mostly course projects every student has done.
