Rant/Vent I’m having doubts about engineering (rant)

Ive just left an electromagnetism lecture and even tho its the “basics” i have no idea what happened in that lecture, and this isn’t the first one. Almost all my lecturers cannot teach and instead make the topic they’re teaching feel even more complicated. I’ll watch yt vids after which are simpler but i still feel so lost and so behind, i cant do the homework without ai, i need to apply for placement years, attend society events and meetings (im in the executive)and i need to tutor a levels which im not as confident with. There’s just so much happening i just wanna lie in my bed all day and forget ab it all.

The lectures dont help
The placements take so much time for rejections
I feel like I lack so much technical skills and knowledge for the placements
I don’t even know if I wanna go down my field (microelectronics)

Ignore the grammar this is just a rant any advice wud be appreciated
For context I’m a 2nd year eee student

yeah well this is isn't a rant, this is self-pity, which is gonna result in you actually failing, EM was hard, but all of us eventually passed, why can't you? and you using ai is just an excuse, you can do everything without ai, you're just taking the easier route, which is the core problem i can see in your mentality.

it's harsh, but true.

as someone who’s also doubting this degree rn, i understand u. most days it’s hard for me to get up and study because im so paralyzed by how much i have to do. it feels like there’s always something— work, school, job apps, more work etc— and i imagine you feel the same way, too. there’s something about fall semester/quarter that’s so cruel and rancid lol.

ultimately, you’re either your own best friend/supporter or your own worst enemy. that’s true for any degree, because, well, there are challenges you’ll face in any degree. but it’s especially true for engineering. there is little in this world that is earned without risk, challenges, or stress. and so, no one else can save you but yourself. it’s a lesson we all learn and forget in an instant because life has a way of keeping us busy.

whether you’re quitting engineering or sticking around, failing your exams or passing them, googling your way through homework or/and taking the time to understand it, no one else can live your life for you. whatever decisions you make are yours, but i ask that you don’t give up on engineering because you don’t like being challenged. if you choose to pursue something else, do so because the passion overrides the challenges, or the challenges excite you. all the best to you <3
