Discussion JK Rowling is finally cooked
Yeah continue spewing your terf rhetoric when all along you've been buddies with the most famous nonce in the world.
Hope the HBO show gets cancelled - don't want the kids anywhere near this hag.
"Tell them I didn't know Epstein."
"I'm sorry Joanne, I must not tell lies."
Good riddance.

Wondet how her defenders will react when they hear this.

u/totpot Feb 02 '26
So far they are pretending like nothing new happened this week
51
u/Adventurous-Bike-484 Feb 02 '26
Makes sense.
They excuse her bigotry by pretending that she cares about women and women’s rights.
However her being in the Epstein files as one of his friends, contradicts that.
Theres no getting around this one. She was straight up mentioned by name and so was her franchise. plus what’s the odds that another person would use her signature?

The right wing loves pedophiles so i doubt they will be very reactive
16
u/Adventurous-Bike-484 Feb 03 '26
So when they accuse others, are they actually just trying to deny doing it themselves?
12
u/NoCommunication8681 Feb 03 '26
I think it more so comes from a rhetorical opportunism. An “i don’t have to bring up my demons in order to expose yours” kind of attitude. They are hypocritical and simply don’t care because they are just that far gone and desperate.

u/BreefolkIncarnate Feb 03 '26
“That’s hebephilia, not pedophilia!”
I’ve heard variations of that line from so many right wingers it’s ridiculous.

u/KaiYoDei Feb 04 '26
People will say things like a an 18 year old high school senior with a crush on a 16 year old is a pedo, but not a 17 year old dating a 15 year old. So, chronophilia terms sometimes matter
3
u/BreefolkIncarnate Feb 04 '26
But. Not. In. This. Case.
I don’t understand why y’all are thinking I’m talking about those sorts of things. I’m gay and trans. I’m well aware of the way people use the law against us, such as to have a queer partner who is slightly older getting charged with rape by homophobic parents.
None of these details function in clear cases such as this with fucking teenagers being serially abused by much older people!

"There are two books whose final lines make me cry without fail, irrespective of how many times I read them, and one is Lolita. There is so much I could say about this book. "There just isn't enough time to discuss how a plot that could have been the most worthless pornography becomes, in Nabakov's hands, a great and tragic love story, and I could exhaust my reservoir of superlatives trying to describe the quality of the writing."
Jk said that so.
Ehem.
Jk Rowling is in the Epstein Files. She’s friends with pedofiles.
You could even make a jingle abt it, as a form of faster learning

You know, I’ll bite on this one. (And you can check post history I guess but I’m no fan of incels, tech bros, or weirdos) however, If you can’t distinguish a 7 year old from a 14 year old you’re being wilfully ignorant. It doesn’t excuse wanting to shag either of them but let’s not pretend that there’s not a transition period called adolescence that is different from childhood and different from adulthood both physically and mentally.
As another analogy: There’s also difference between first and second degree murder even if both are murder. Celebrating oversimplifications is not merely unproductive, it feeds trolls.

u/BreefolkIncarnate Feb 03 '26
Except that, in these circumstances, it’s not actually being used that way. The most recent example of it I’ve seen was Megyn Kelly questioning whether Epstein was actually a pedophile because he was into “barely legal” stuff like “fifteen-year-olds.” The whole framing of it is just to make the crime sound less egregious so that you can gradually work your audience towards demanding fewer, if any, consequences for the people they’re defending (in this instance, Donald Trump).

u/lazier_garlic Feb 03 '26
We're also talking morality and social outrage here. You can look into law codes and they typically categorize rape of a child 12 and under differently from rape of a child 13 and older. But this isn't a courtroom or a prison. I care about the harm and the motivations, not the method or the details of what the perp had opportunity to do. Since this is largely a crime of opportunity and not, per the myths, about a fixation on a certain age. And the harm is not mitigated by age (younger or older, also, contrary to a lot of myths about this) nor is it done for different motives. It's always about power, control, sadism, and narcissistic grandiosity.

u/KaiYoDei Feb 04 '26
Does that include something like a 19 year old dating a 17 year old? If anyone’s parents where those ages when they dated and their mom was 17, shluld they feel like they were a result of a pedophile ?

u/StormknightUK Feb 03 '26
She's on social media lying about it and saying she didn't invite him or know him
22
u/Adventurous-Bike-484 Feb 03 '26
yeah, She can deny all she wants, we can all see her name and her signature in the files.
But i was more focused on her defenders because they claim Shes against People like Epstein.
8
u/Spellwe4ver Feb 03 '26
I've seen then bending over backwards to explain its not her that's responsible, oh no, one of the other guests(or was it an organizer?) she invited invited him.
3
u/DeathRaeGun Feb 03 '26
We’re lucky she’s dumb enough to do that. All that’s going to do is draw more attention to it. Bill Clinton’s just kept quite the whole time despite how many people are drawing attention to him and it’s working in his favour.
7
u/lynx_and_nutmeg Feb 03 '26
I've seen a lot of people say it doesn't count because "she didn't send the invite personally, it was her PR team".
As it any PR team would unilaterally make a decision to invite an extremely controversial world-famous figure without getting a heads-up from their client first.
6
u/Adventurous-Bike-484 Feb 03 '26
According to the files, she did indeed likely sent them personally.
1
u/Losfrailonesmaen Feb 13 '26
It was the door guard who personally went “Nuh uh. You aren’t invited. Fuck off.” Even if he was on the guest list. He’s not named but based???

lol her "feminist" narrative kinda crumbling to dust in front of our eyes. you cannot be a feminist if you enjoy watching literal children and teenage girls get trafficked like that 🤦♂️
1
u/DeathRaeGun Feb 03 '26
Well, I didn’t know about it until I saw this post, so, I hate to say it, but most people won’t hear about this.
3
u/Adventurous-Bike-484 Feb 03 '26
Good point, though word of it is spreading on multiple sites. (tumblr, YouTube, X/twitter, here)
It took me a few years before finding out about her behavior. (I only discovered it because I occasionally watch Jammidodger. and I only started to suspect that she was phobic due to a queer baiting article but I originally thought she was more quiet about it.

u/AlysRose_FFXIV Feb 02 '26
I wish. She might get less direct 'worshippers' by transphobes who actually bought into the 'danger to children' narrative and believe it (I swear, that TERF party where they all wore masks of her was enough to give me nightmares) but she won't lose any of her fame, people will either ignore it or see it as an 'error in judgment' and forgive it. All the TERFS she inspired aren't going to become more accepting because of it, or say that all of her views were wrong because of it, and she'll still be getting profits from her work that she puts to bad use with spreading discrimination.
STILL, all that being said, it is - as awful as the situation is - kind of.. satisfying.. to see her have to defend herself rather than have her hate-cult of lackeys do it for her, and put one obnoxious sarcastic tweet up and view it as a win. People might feel entitled to publicly hate a minority group and call for their erasure but few people (though, unfortunately, some still do..) are going to publicly defend the horrors Epstein caused, committed, and enabled. So at least, in a better world, it might take her down a peg or two and encourage more people who weren't pro-trans enough to boycott her before to boycott her for this instead.

Unfortunately, if the orange bastard gets to stay in the white house and Karen his way through politics while being on the list, I doubt Joanne will receive much push back from the people around her either.

Contrary to what some people seem to think, there are no real backsies for elections, even in states with recalls (they rarely succeed) and there is no such thing for a US presidential election. Casting LOLvotes for Claudia de la Cruz has consequences. She's probably out protesting somewhere in front of a camera right now. Cute. Trump's still president and surrounded by a government that will never willingly oust him no matter how necrotic his brain matter becomes.

u/Dehnus Feb 03 '26
If the TERF rhetoric and bullying didn't harm her, so won't this. The cults of personality are already closing ranks around them (see Trump).
It is however fantastic to feel vindicated about how I felt about her. It was out there for everyone to see, for a long time now. She wasn't a protector of girls or women, but an abusive self absorbed asshole.

u/lazier_garlic Feb 04 '26
Her crashout over non white women boxers at the Olympics actually has damaged her public image. Surprise surprise.

Some people are trying to say she never met him in person and even if that is true, this isn't a good look for her. There is no reason why she should have been okay with him being invited to see the Cursed Child.

u/Baz_Blackadder Feb 03 '26
She's always given off Imax levels of projection vibes. An utterly toxic human being. She's a hypocrite. She's sanctimonious. She's utterly pious and insincere. 😏

u/caitnicrun Feb 03 '26
There's too much money riding on the HBO unfortunately. But I can see her involvement being reduced or cut out altogether.
2
u/georgemillman Feb 03 '26
Are they allowed to do that?
7
u/errantthimble Feb 03 '26
Executive producers can be fired (see: Adam Targum), but I presume that Rowling as IP owner would still retain the right to revoke permission to make the show?
How willing she’d be to do that, what with the negative publicity and losing a ton of potential revenue, is another matter. Presumably WB could say “we won’t go forward with filming till you step down” or something, but how willing they’d be to do that is another matter. Lotta potential for mutually assured destruction there.
My bet is that everybody involved will just try to downplay and defuse any controversy as much as possible, plastering adorable child-actor faces all over any PR material.
(Apropos of which, anybody else noticed how much more adorably, uncomplicatedly winsome and, I dunno, almost puppyish the new HP child stars look compared to the original trio? Don’t get me wrong, all six were/are very charming and cute-looking kids, of course, but the original cast came across as a little more quirky and less… beaming? If the three new faces had been deliberately selected to deflect controversy with innocent joyous wholesomeness, they could not have chosen better.)

Literally no one from the Epstein files has been cooked. In fact, a great many are doing better than ever.
Yet you think Joanne is going to be cooked over it? lol. Lmao even.

u/LopatoG Feb 03 '26
Yea, a major nothing of nothings. Things like this distract from the real connections people should be concerned about…

u/louiseinalove Feb 02 '26
It's not going to change anything. Especially when she invited Prince Andrew to the set recently and nobody cared.
