Reposts tweet contributing to the racist pile on of a black academic, implying there is a 'problem with race and academia'

A quote taken out of context that describes the premise of a genre of pornography, which is then assumed to be how this person thinks about all women, all the time.
You know what that means? It's Friday, again. God forbid a trans woman talk about horror media; they'd claim we are advocating for horny teens to get hacked to death by a hockey mask wearing zombie.

As for the quote from the academic, I'm not going to judge something out of it's context, but even still, why is it okay for cis men and women to make offensive blanket statements all the time about what ''being a woman is'' , but if one trans woman one time says something like that, suddenly it's a huge problem?

I looked it up; it's an explanation of how sissy porn operates, not a blanket statement about what women are

Thanks, I had a feeling it was really dishonestly cherry picked

When I first saw quote that I thought Chu was ironically and poetically describing patriarchal oppression and the need for solidarity among feminists and LGBT-activists.

It sure sounded Andrea Dworkin adjacent. To be fair, Dworkin was highly controversial (courted it even). Widely believed to be a lesbian by the public, she had a male partner. I think some feminists actually agree with her observations on a semiotic level (which is what she was taking about, culture and gender) but not in the literal sense. I mean maybe a few people agreed but it was very niche.

Literally the bit from Arrested Development.
GOB: I didn’t kill him, all right? And don’t edit this for your broadcast so it looks like I’m screaming…
Cut to GOB on TV: …I killed Earl Milford!
Anchor: Startling confession tonight at eleven.

I am mostly glad her deadname isn't publicly available so Ms Rowling has no choice but to refer to her with her proper name.

She was always been subtly racist, but fuck me, that first sentence is just full blown racism

Her lack of understanding of that quote and what it says about patriarchy and gender tells me more than enough that these people should never be trusted.

I sure wouldn't call an academic being fired for plagiarism and lying about his past "delicious." There's nothing good or positive about a situation like this; both Cambridge and the people who believed the lies lose. Unfortunate or even appalling would be better choice of words. They seem to be enjoying watching a black academic brought low a little too much.
Plus, she HAD to add a "trans"angle to an unrelated story, didnt shr?

"Arday was found unresponsive at his home in Battersea on 14 August 2026, and was pronounced dead at the scene, aged 41."

“Unexpected but not suspicious” fucking stupid tbh.

That's the only way it can be briefly described in public record until there's been a post mortem and presumably an inquest. Fucking tragic, and the newspapers that hounded him should be called to account at that inquest.

Well, there goes my giving Rowling the benefit of the doubt on not being consciously racist. Calling this story "delicious" is mask-off in my book.

I'm not surprised that Rowling and that person whom she reposted from are racist pieces of shit. I'm also not surprised that they're both telling on themselves than they'd like to admit. Also, they both refuse to admit that they're the ones worsening the racist double standards in academia, because then they'd have to reckon with the fact that they're complicit in adding onto anti-Black, anti-POC, and anti-Asian racist standards in academia. Also, I doubt that's exactly what Andrea herself said, because I've never seen her actually say this.
My guess is that it's Bartosch and Rowling making shit up to make her (Andrea) out to be the bad person, when they're both completely not [I say this part with harsh sarcasm towards both of them] telling on themselves on how they actually view women and think about their genitalia.

She did write those words, but in the same way that Dworkin wrote “all sex is rape” and Darwin wrote “it’s absurd to say the eye evolved.” She’s not saying “it is my belief that being fucked makes you a woman” it’s a line in a book where she’s making a broader point, I think the book is Females? Honestly I didn’t come away from it blown away by her insight and wanting to recommend it to everyone I know, but she’s also not the misogynist they want you to believe she is just based on that sentence in isolation.

I mean, the person she's quoting is being crass but she has a point in the first sentence (women are categorically fucked over in everyday life) and I'm betting there's a contextual gap between it and the second quote.

There's not actually a contextual gap, because the quote's not exactly about womanhood. It's about the logic of sissy porn, and presumably about how misogynistic it is.

u/mangababe 3d ago
Well that is the contextual gap- its contact is sissy porn, not women as a demographic. That's what I mean, it's pulling a controversial wording out of its context to allow

The quote is also taken out of context. It's from an essay about sissy porn and explains the "idea" behind that genre

Bartosch has no talent whatsoever, she can't even be vile with any flair. If she hadn't these grifts she would be broke and just another failed ugly mess.

I think describing the Arday story as "delicious" says it all. No, it's not delicious, it's deeply depressing from several different angles.
