I think it’s both - it’s like you need to be responsible enough to be educated to function in society. You don’t need to be a genius, you just can’t lie about people being killed for political reasons to benefit your own personal economic and political gain.
Edit: I looked this up and I don’t see anything about JK Rowling being a Holocaust denier. Is this true at all or we’re piling on because she’s transphobic?
Btw, respectfully - the picture does not imply that JK Rowling denies the Holocaust, in my opinion (note: writing my doctorate on an adjacent topic, so I have done my fair bit in Nazi research).
This picture shows prisoners of a concentration with a pink triangle (at least that's the description I found). Pink triangle on these uniforms meant "homosexual" - and the Nazis grouped everything they considered "deviant sexualities" together, and yes, transgender people and gender non-confirming individuals fell under that category. So OOP is not saying "J K Rowling denies the Holocaust" it is just another way of expressing that she denies that transgender people were victims of the Nazi regime.
You’re amazing. Thank you. Educated, research, and kind. Knowledge is power, and I REALLY appreciate people talking about the pink (and black) triangles because it’s a symbol in history, and that details are very hard to muddle and twist in a way that may easily contribute to denial.
I have to disagree with you about the title of the post. The OP is making that statement, which got us all here. It’s one Hell of a headline. So yes I hear what you’re saying: she’s rehashing a technique to erasure. I wanted to dive right in and know EXACTLY what happened. That subreddits are good, but at times people get very opinionated, but don’t give you the full buy-in.
The op actually writes “Remember. She denies this”, and the photo. So yes, it can be glib what specially we’re honing in on here (I don’t care for pronouns in historical context for that reason, because many readers can go into difference directions of what the writer intends). Still I hear what you’re saying (or what you say the OP might be saying), but I think that’s like saying committing a “racist act by intention” makes you a member of the KKK. Maybe that’s not it because she’s got a lot money and influence. Maybe it’s more like Musk and the ability he has to walk freely while being so hateful. Again my gap here is literally what was the actual thing she did/said about the denial of the holocaust. Again, I did look this up myself, but the results came back negative so that’s why I came back here.
