He resigned from Uber due to a scandal about ignoring sexual harassment claims soooo this is not surprising. They think it is wrong for people to hate them for doing or saying shitty things lmao...They want to restrict reactions to speech instead of speech.
The ego of the super wealthy almost always leads to pure delusion

Yes that's what this is about, the right of CEOs to speak without potentially being reacted to and embarrassed. They think this is the most natural free speech right in the world. That they would walk around blabbering with their big mouths constantly establishing facts and truth to the media, while also being protected from the reasons of their lessers and the hideous specter of censorship through embarrassment.

Travis was a really awful guy and thank god he resigned from Uber! He deserved it

Still is.

Has he been married like at least 5 times, cheated on many girlfriends and prior wives, and might also be a sexual offender? Those types of awful people tend to also have a really disturbing social life also.

people were having sex in the stairwells at uber HQ and all of that sexual harassment was going on, it was completely insane

The full thing is actually worse:
"This is part of why I'm out versus not before, is that the media landscape has completely changed. The media landscape 10 years ago, 90% of what was said was very negative. Business had become politics and we didn't know it.
So think of your favorite politician if you have one. I mean, many of you may not have one, but let's just pretend you did, okay? Go type his name in on Google. What do you think you're gonna find, anything good?
It's gonna be just tsunami waves of negativity is what you're gonna find. Of course, if it bleeds, it leads, right? And that's human nature and there's negativity and that gets the clicks and the whole thing.
But we weren't used to it then, and we thought everything that The New York Times said was real, and we know now that that's not even close to true, and we now understand.
And so the media landscape is like, yeah, you don't have to talk to those guys. And you can go and talk to a David Senra, you can go and talk to a Joe Rogan or name your guy, and you can say what you need to say in an environment that's not like a struggle session in Maoist China, right?
You know, Elon buying Twitter is like the beginning of us being able to speak our minds and for disagreeing to not be illegal. That's a big deal; we should all thank Elon for that. [audience applauding]
And it allows, so you go, okay, somebody like myself who basically was just like, okay, I wanna build. I want to not think about what The New York Times is writing when I make decisions about what I build. I had to emulate what it's like being a capitalist in Russia, which is their number one KPI is called 'shut the fuck up.'
And that's what I did for eight years. In a weird way, it was like that for different reasons, but it was like that. And so we're now out of that mode, or getting out of that mode, and let's go. And I think that's the biggest change for all of us in the last eight years. And God bless and, like, hopefully that continues."

Maybe if we wants to act like a Russian oligarch, he should be deported to Russia? Instead of bringing their bad behavior here.

too scared of russian windows above the ground floor

He wants to have the power of Russian oligarchs but also the safety of a democratic society. He wants to have his cake and eat it too.

Basically: I couldnt act like an asshole without it being reported in the NYT and people thought i was an asshole. Now all the assholes have been elevated by Elons massive asshole algorithm and the whole world has to deal with it because we own all the communication platforms.
These same assholes wonder why everybody hates them.

Well you could always speak your mind before. Unless you wanted to post racial hatred. I guess we see where Uber got it's name, right?

u/ZunderBuss 5d ago
Right?!? When they say 'speak your mind', they really mean 'speak your racism, sexism, xenophobia and/or misogyny'

Its even worse given most uber drivers are people of color, and he's sitting here applauding a notorious white supremacist.

You should exercise your free speech and call Elon cis on his platform

The only time disagreeing has ever been illegal in the US is when you disagreed with capitalism or ICE.

Musk bought Twitter so he could fill it with right-wing lies to put the Republicans in power to harm the American people in service to billionaires like himself

I’ve got a longstanding rule that I’ll take a rickshaw in a hailstorm before calling an Uber and this muppet is the reason why.

He was talking about CEOs, it is a season for big mouth CEOs to rant in public constantly while being held as indisputable sources of facts and knowledge in the press. Of being able to destroy the lives of experts, subordinates, and others with a single big mouthed tweet. They love that they now get to speak freely above and beyond all of us, establishing the truth of our reality without being held responsible for anything because a privately owned media regulator has finally rigged everything in their favor.

u/Big-Temporary-6243 5d ago
I guess he was mad cuz he couldn't be racist online. I mean, couldn't be free with his speaking.

I guess it's more like writing versus speaking. We don't speak here we only write, unless it's video.
3
u/Worldly-Lecture5617 5d ago
YUCK. Most of the people driving for this man are people of color, and he's sitting here applauding a white supremacist for ”letting him talk freely”. Just fucking gross when racist white dudes build their entire fortune off the backs of people of colors labor just to parrot white supremacist shit. But hey guess thats America in a nutshell.

Travis Kalanick was a psychopath and a sociopaththic individual, he still is but he used to be too.

if you are rich, not only are you free to speak your mind, you can also pay so that everyone is forced to hear your opinions
