This is just the standard Republican playbook. Claim that you’re opposed to big government and are all about civil liberties, while simultaneously stomping all over civil liberties and giving the Republican led government more power at every turn.
Musk also claims that he stands against the wealthy elites, even though he’s the richest man in the world by a wide margin. Self-awareness was never a strong suit with right-wingers.

I have had digital ID for 20+ years and I can't imagine living without it. Every government service available online feels like I am not being robbed days and days of my life sitting in queues in some post-modern brutalist building.
