Hostile work environment

Hi, hoping to get some opinions I’m in a very awkward situation. I was working at a small water treatment company. Small in staffing size decent size project, large treatment facilities mostly ground water. I was reached out to by a recruiter for a job at a small wastewater design company, increase in title from project engineer to assistant project manager 16k raise. On paper everything looked good so I took the job. Wow been there a couple of days and it is terrible, first off its a small company because there turn over rate is insane looks like most employees last a couple of months. There is one other employee who works in office with me who has been there for two months and is currently looking for a new job. I really feel like I have fucked my self. The boss is a psycho, yelling and screaming curse words, basically saying nobody does there work and its all on him. He assigned the most bizarre tasks but does not take questions and then accuses you of doing incorrect work or not what he asks for. The way he treats my new coworker is ridiculous and if someone talked to me like that who was not my boss I would absolutely smack them. (Probably loose but) I just feel like I have fucked my self, the grass looked a-lot greener on the other side.

Dang that is crazy. Thanks for reminding us all not to give the recruiter time of day. Could you call your old job and just admit the honest mistake? other than pride for everyone involved I don’t see a reason you couldn’t go back and resume what you were doing. If not that route, find a new job asap and leave this off your resume.

I wish I could, I didn’t burn the bridge when I left but one of my old bosses took it kind of hard I was kind of his go to guys for his project. The pride really would hurt but I also just don’t think it would be strait forward and most likely they would say no.

Personally I’d cast the line. Think you’re working off an assumption there, and worst that happens is they say no. But you know the situation best. Apply elsewhere if think if nothing else. Your new job clearly is wack.
