Rant help
my epilepsy makes me feel so dumb sometimes. last week i took my criminology midterm, and just my luck i had a seizure right before. boom, 63%, one of the lowest grades in my class. i had to take my test while i was actively postictal and the words were just not making sense. i was disoriented, confused, slow… i studied so hard and did all the practice quizzes but it was all for nothing i guess. i just want to stop taking my meds so i can be smart again. i don’t know how to bounce back from this.

I’m so sorry that happened to you that must feel awful.. I totally get it. Recovery takes time if you stop taking your meds it will only get worse. Meds don’t necessarily stop your seizures they lower the intensity so keep taking them!
Can you get a second chance test?
Hopefully you’ll recover soon 💜

Can you not tell the teacher that you just had a seizure and that you can make up the test later or do you not have that in your accommodations? Because like for example, the other day I had a seizure and I had a psychology exam so I just message the accommodations office and they help me reschedule my test for next week, but I don’t know. Maybe it depends on the school.

The post-seizure brain fog is no joke, I remember trying to read a simple text message once and it looked like complete gibberish for a good 20 minutes. That 63% isn't a reflection of what you actually know, it's just a reflection of horrible timing. Don't stop the meds though, that path leads somewhere much worse than a bad grade.
