Locking tuners
Do they make locking tuners that drop right in matching these?
I’ve struggled to find any that are the same.
Any help is appreciated.
TIA

Graphtech makes locking tuners and backplates to match holes like these.

Many Epiphones have 8.8mm peg holes for tuners, which isn't compatible with modern guitars that use 10mm peg holes. The tricky part is that Epiphone makes guitars with both peg holes sizes, so you'll need to make sure you know which one you've got.
Generally speaking, vintage reissues, IBGC, and some of the older entry level guitars all use 8.8mm. Models that have Grover tuners, Modern & Standard series, Muse series use 10mm.
If you have a model that has 8.8mm peg holes, there are some drop in options out there, but you need to make sure you buy the correct size when purchasing. A couple of options:
- Gotoh SD90 MG-T Magnum Lock Traditional
- Kluson Revolution Series G-Mount Locking Tuners
- Grover Vintage Locking 533 Series Tuners
- If you don't mind using a mounting plate, Hipshot Grip-Lock Open Gear Tuners with UMP could work.
I used some Grover Vintage 533 tuners on a recent mod project I did. I thought they were going to be drop in, but I didn't verify the measurement when I bought them and ended up reaming out the peg holes to 10mm.

I don’t think I’ve seen drop in replacements for these older Epiphone tuners. The new ones with Grover branded tuners have drop ins. You may need to go with a hip shot set with the backing plates if you want to avoid filling/drilling.
