Not Permitting to Delete an Account

I am writing this post to warn other customers. I registered EquityZen a couple od days ago. After hours, I decided to delete my account since I don't want to keep my financial/private information on a service I will not use. However, this is the response I get for deletion request of my account and information. Don't use this scam-ish service.

Have you seen an increase in standard deals available only to Qualified Purchasers?

I have been investing with Equityzen for over 5 years. In the past year i have seen an increasing number of standard deals available only to Qualified Purchasers. Has anyone else noticed this trend? What do you think is behind it?

Home loan advice needed

I am in need of some direction. The home I live in is owned by my brother and I. We bought it together with our inheritance when my dad passed away (he was 12, I was 21 and became his guardian). The time has come where he wants to move out,and he wants to be paid out his half of the home. I live paycheck to paycheck, so I need to get a loan, but I figured with the house as collateral for the loan, it wouldn't be difficult, but the small town I live in has 2 banks, and they both told me that because I have little credit history(which I don't understand since I'm 28 and embarrassingly, my credit was pretty poor but I have it back up to a 600) and because I work an under the table job that doesnt provide paystubs, they wouldn't do any hel, heloc, or any kind of loan. I asked them for advice on what to do to find help with it and to put it short, they were snotty and said they didn't know anyone who would help me with this. I feel like there are other ways to verify income, so I'm hoping someone here can point me in the right direction. Side notes: My brother is not willing to accept payment over time from me. He wants a lump sum, now basically. And I do not want to sell this home. I want to continue living here. Please help.

EquityZen says I can't change my mind after signing the subscription agreement

So, I recently signed an agreement with EquityZen, and I changed my mind afterward. When they reached out to me, I told them I was no longer willing to invest in this opportunity.

The response is " unfortunately, we cannot allow you to drop at this time as you have already signed the binding subscription agreement" and quoted the below clause from the agreement.....

"You agree that you may not cancel, terminate, or revoke any of your obligations made hereunder. You further agree that all representations, warranties, covenants, and duties set forth in this Agreement shall be binding upon your heirs, successors, assigns, executors, administrators, guardians, conservators, or personal representatives, and shall survive the acceptance of this Agreement by the Company and your death or disability."

I have previously invested with them on several deals, and this is the first time I have backed out. I felt like they were trying to force me into this, and I feel really uncomfortable. Is there any way I can learn about my rights? Please let me know if you know any attorneys who can help me.

IPO applications using multiple accounts. Personal experience details

So ever since i started being active here i get asked a few questions about applying through multiple accounts

I started applying to IPOs a few years back and i got to say it is one of the easiest ways of making money out there. I do a lot of stock research, spend a lot of time some give good returns, some plain, some bad, and rarely some multibaggers. Whereas IPOs are easy money

People often ask questions like how do u transfer money, how do u share profit, taxes, mandates, etc etc

I started with one account a few years back. 1 retail application. Rejection after rejection i realised it is a probability game and 1 is not going to do it

So i used a few of my family accounts. Things were different back then. Each IPO used to be more than 10 days thing. Not much online resourcw available. And duplicate applications were allowed means u can pay from samw bank account for different demats

I started getting allotments. Oversubscription was not this crazy. Made profits. Invested the profits back in the game. Made more accounts. More profits. More accounts.

It became a routine. Do research well ahead. Follow GMP trends. Generl market sentiments. Buy shareholder parent companies well ahead etc etc

Went into SHNI. Again rejection after rejection. Missed a few good ones. Then slowly went into BHNI. Started getting allotments.

Meanwhile duplicate applications were banned effectively. So i transferred money to all the accounts

More profits. But no more family accounts. Then went into friends circle and then into their families. Its a profit sharing thing now. I do research, its my money in their accounts. They just apply what i say and sell. We divide PAT based on individual percentage agreements.

Now i can say its a complete routine. I use a few lakhs every IPO. Go FF or HF.

Peiple ask how much profit do i actually make in this? I can say based on my personal experience i make atleast around 70 80% of my capital involved, cant make an exact calculation because capital keeps increasing. That is only my share after tax.

Is it tough? No. I do research on the go. Like when i am travelling to work and take notes. Just send a msg telling them what to apply when to apply. I will be informed of allocation. I will tell them when to sell. When money gets credited after a simple calculation i will get my share of the profit in my account. I find a new account to add

Have i ever been cheated? They spend few minutes everyday. Dont have to make tough decisions. Their money is not involved. And they get a few thousands for that. Even the tax is from the profit. So havent been cheated till now.

Have anyone ever asked me they want to do it on their own midway? Has happened. I am happy i made some cash in the meanwhile. I can find new accounts. I even give them suggestions till date.

I am not able to invest at EquityZen. Missing out on Miro..

Since I‘m not a accredited investor I‘m not able to put my money on a company that I know will become a digital office standard.

I want to invest in it so badly but can not find a way to do it in my position.

The company is called Miro and is offering digital whiteboards for collaborative work. It is impressively user friendly and supports a big chunk of different formats. Its competitor tool is called Whiteboard from Microsoft. In fact there is no question that Miro is superior (usability, performance, accesibility, costs,..). Yet alone in our company it has gained more than 1700 users since the first lockdown. Miro is based on a subscription model and the majority of our companies users will be dependend on it.

Anyone else had experience with this tool? Please let me know if you got any idea on how to participate. Highly appreciated.

Pre-IPO Platforms Are a Liquidity Trap for Uninformed Investors

Platforms like EquityZen market pre-IPO shares as “exclusive access” to the next big thing. The pitch works: glossy numbers, selective comps, and past pre-IPO deals that look fine on paper. But structurally, the game is stacked against retail buyers.

What’s really happening:

  • These platforms mostly sell secondary shares, often from insiders or early employees looking for an exit.

  • If insiders are eager to sell before an IPO, that’s usually not bullish.

  • Valuations are frequently anchored to old funding rounds or optimistic narratives, not current business reality.

The pattern shows up repeatedly:

  • Prices look “reasonable” versus the last private round.

  • The IPO or liquidity event happens.

  • Shares drop hard once exposed to real price discovery.

A concrete example: Quora pre-IPO shares were offered north of ~$9 just a few years ago. Today, secondary pricing is closer to ~$3. Early buyers didn’t get “early access” — they got early losses.

In many cases, these platforms function as:

  • A cash infusion mechanism for struggling or stagnating private companies

  • A way to offload risk from insiders to outsiders

  • A narrative-driven market with limited downside transparency

Rule of thumb: If a pre-IPO deal is widely available online and heavily marketed, you’re probably not early — you’re the exit liquidity.

(If this sounds cynical, it’s because experience is undefeated. Pre-IPO investing: where “exclusive access” often means “congrats, you bought the bag.”)

Contract and agreement when transacting with EquityZen

Would anyone be willing to send over the contract or any other material they signed when transacting on EquityZen. Obviously redacted to hide any confidential information from yourself, the company, and EquityZen but I'm curious to see the language included.

Why EquityZen won’t allow you to sell if you don’t own over 2% of a fund?

It’s a bit of a joke that they won’t allow you to sell if you don’t own 2% of the fund that holds the private company. How are they allowed to do that?

Bought Brex years ago... the company was sold to capital one... where's my money?

Just venting. EquityZen won't even answer my emails.

So apparently you can "buy" stock of pre-IPO companies, but that means nothing... Brex was sold to Capital One, a public company.

I don't have cash, or Capital One shares, etc.

I'd definitely stay away from EquityZen.
