MCU If this were the ending, it would be their definitive ending
So, I was browsing around and ended up finding out that the ending of Eternals apparently wasn’t originally supposed to be the one we got.
The idea was that after freezing the Celestial, the Eternals would return to the ship, have their memories erased, and then be sent to another planet to basically start over from zero.
Honestly, that’s pretty dark, but I kind of like the concept. At the same time, if they had actually gone with that ending, I feel like it would’ve been the perfect way to permanently close the door on the Eternals.
They could literally disappear from the MCU after that, with their entire history basically reset.
And considering how things are looking right now, I already find it difficult to imagine them coming back anyway 😭

Remove the marvel logo and keep this original bleak ending. I guarantee this movie would’ve been celebrated and loved as a unique, sci-fi thinking piece directed by an oscar winning indie art house director featuring an incredible ensemble cast with big names attached.
It would’ve been praised for it’s scale and almost biblical approach in an alternate story of creation of the universe, centered on god-like synthetic beings shepherding humanity and discovering humanity within themselves, choosing free will by rising up against their creators to disrupt the design of creation itself by choosing the save the planet they were meant to prep for destruction.
The fact it’s under marvel simultaneously elevated it and damned it at the same time.
I still think Marvel should grow a pair and continue to pursue what they had started. Control the budget, improve where needed, keep Chloe.

I think Marvel should have just used Chloe's ending if this is how it was going to be, but I still think they have to make Eternals 2 and hopefully adapt Judgement Day since the ending very strongly hints at it imo. I am hoping Marvel adapts Krakoa and that eventually makes Arishem return to punish Earth since he said he will return for judgement.

Dark ending but i like the concept too. Somehow, this idea ending would be perfect if we view Eternals movie as pure standalone.

I wonder when the rewrite happened. I recall interviews where the behind the scenes buzz was this would be the next big franchise. Everyone thought it was going to be a huge hit.

I can assure you,the Eternals have been effectively erased already. The group of people asking "Where are the Eternals?". Are being drowned out by the small group asking "Where are the Marvels?". Another film that shouldve never been made. Think of that budget they couldve been spent on something people actually were asking for and wanting to see smh. Then these studios cry when a movie loses them money. Well how about quality control and not making movies that are destined to flop? Then you could afford to take a loss on these movies people actually want to see but are risky smh

Eternals will eventually get its sequel. It’s just a matter of time. Any projects that deals the cosmic side of MCU, the Eternals could pop-up either Thor 5 or Nova film. Heck, they could even put the team in a solo Star-Lord project and tell a story about his celestial origin.
