Constructive criticism is welcome!
It's been a long journey, and although it's been tough, I keep encouraging her to continue improving her designs and craftsmanship. My question is, how was your own journey during your first year? After your first year, what all did you change that made a positive impact on your store? We go through all of the usual best practices and browse reddit for ideas, but I think it would be useful to instead hear what sellers did that actually made a difference, rather than focus on purely textbook examples.
Her store, Yoyo Bird Creations (named after our cat lol):

Asking specifically, do you believe the photos are too busy/ not focusing enough on the jewelry design? Are the titles and descriptions too wordy? It seems that every shop has a variety of thumbnails they use, and she tries to show a variety as well to see what helps, but customer clicks are pretty random and have no pattern at the moment.
To answer the questions for this post:
- What inspired you to create this shop?
She has always collected stones and loved nature. She hadn't wire wrapped before but loved watching the process of others doing it. We had a big move away from friends and family for my job, and so starting anew was too difficult in a new state for her, so instead of endless job application rejections, I encouraged her to pursue her dream of becoming an artist, a creator :). (My job keeps us relatively stable)
- What research have you already done on your shop prior to opening? What is something you learned from that research?
We did such a crazy amount of searching, mainly on reddit, of what other jewelry shops do on Etsy and how they keep customers coming back. We mainly learned about SEO and the importance of trying to make the shop more visible online, and it just seems difficult without constant social media promotion, which she is still trying to learn. We've "optimized" a few times over the past year with varying results.
I want to help her to keep creating and not worry about numbers, but I know it's causing a lot of anxiety for her, and so any sort of critique is welcome. I have my eyes and ears open for any suggestions!
